What went wrong?
Nothing, despite what MUH AIRCOOLED boomers say, Porsche has gotten better over time.
Nothing. The very first 911s are slow turds barely quicker than a Beetle, and they've had decades of time to make the rear engine layout not kill you in corners.
nothing
except classic Porsche fans are the cringe

>what went wrong
they switched to wheels, lost 140k pounds and dropped the armor plating and turret making it completely useless for invading poland
>>14585528
>implying this could defeat Polish cavalry
>>14585494
Not much.
Electric power steering maybe.
>>14585528
>the elefant has a turret
Wow
>>14585528
>Implying Porsche did anything right during the war
The ferdinand was a piece of shit and so was their heavy tank abortion.
>>14585531
Russian cavalry better
>>14585536
They made it work tho
>>14585528
>turret
baka it's a superstructure
>>14585606
Meh not really
everything
they lost the war
>>14585565
I'm thinking about both of those bears eating those men.
>>14585606
991 vs 997
or
981 vs 987
You can tell the difference in steering feel and it's not an improvement.
The new gens feel very numb and lifeless.
996 is best 911
>>14588237
How do you fuck up this hard
>>14585553
It may have been a shit design, but that didn't keep it from going 10 and 1 on it's enemies.
>>14585511
>The very first 911s are slow turds barely quicker than a Beetle
/o/ is truly not a place for knowledgeable discussion of cars.
Should I trade in my camry plus 5 grand for a 2001 911 Carrera convertible with 72k miles?
What would you do?
>>14585656
>>14585539
Armyfags. Not even once.
>>14588436
Yes
>>14585494
They got too big, like most cars.
>>14588436
No. If you want one, keep the Camry and buy the Porsche as a second car. If you can't afford to buy a 996 outright, you can't afford to maintain it.
I wouldn't buy any water-cooler Porsche older than a 997.2 unless it were a Turbo or GT3.
>watercooled
>>14585494
I'm not even all that mad about watercooling, I get the frustration over that, I just wish Porsche made it a priority to start compacting their technology and making an effort to make 911's a bit smaller. Of all the car manufacturers to bow to a trend, Porsche should be the last.
the only good aircooled porsche was the 930.
>>14589534
I doubt they could have competed as a brand with aircooling alone.
You see how much that stupid fucking boxster saved their ass.
>>14588237
but how would you feel if company's put out cars incidental in shape and size to the classics
but with modern materials and running gear
>>14585528
hybrid power bby
>>14589605
they couldnt becuase of muh safety
>>14589692
surely some of the lager pony cars can be made with pointy foam bumpers
main problem I see would be that they are so much narrower so have less room for tires
>>14589692
what a dynacorn bodies for $500?
safety has fuck nothing to do because they can be sold as replicas, just like cobras and GT40s, the problem is licensing
>>14589790
The shipping is $500, they actually cost $13,000+
