Is Nissan ever going to release a affordable rwd car? I know that the IDX isnt happening but therebhas to be something besides that gay as fuck Z concept.
Whats holding back nissan from taking back the sports car market? Is it renault?

>gay as fuck Z concept
Whats wrong with the Z series?
>>14551885
Nothing at all, but THIS. I love Zs
Its just disgusting
>>14551836
without renault nissan wouldn't exist now
and they still made the new GTR
problem is cheap RWD sport car market is small and they have a product the 370Z yeah it's old but still it's doing ok against the BRZ/GT86 and the fordstang ecoboost
i think they don't feel the need to bring the hype back since they got the GTR
i don't think renault would oppose since most of this market is not their speciallly since they're only in europe
i think the reduce cost to max policies prevent them to develop new model tought

>Cheap RWD sports car has small market
>Made the Murano Cabriolet for $45-50k from 2011-2014
>>14551917
well maybe they were drunk or trying to surf on the crossover SUV wave maybe but they didn't have a things ont the cross over cabriolet market
and they got 2 model on the RWD sports car
>>14551903
I dont think its that small, infact im sure its growing. The amount of brz/frses i see is staggering. They're everywhere around here, hell miatas are finally popping up. I feel like Nissan should take notice.
But i doubt they have the will to create anything but an ecobox considering the GTR, and the Z.
>>14551935
well i am in yurop so i don't see them much
but yeah that the problem if they would do an upgrade of the 370Z maybe modernize it a little bit that woul be great
>>14551903
kill yourself, renault shill
>>14551836
The 370Z IS Nissan's affordable sports car.
Instead of doing a Z facelift I could see them ditching it for a next-gen Silvia.
The Silvia could potentially reach a larger market than the Z if it's 2+2, has less ricy styling, and is a bit cheaper in the base model.

If it has a V6 or turbo 4 then I'd be all for it.
>>14551958
This unfortunately
europe doesnt seem to give a fuck about rwd, they just get shitty 3 series
though I did just see a clean R33 and a GT86 both this morning.
>>14552056
i don't see japanese sport's car much
german one are way more frequent thought like some audi RS or bmw M serie some hothatches too
hum 3 serie are RWD BMW only made traction this year i think before it was always RWD or 4X4 i think
>>14552047
Silvia needs a tarbo 4.
>>14551935
>But i doubt they have the will to create anything but an ecobox
That's all the S16 needs to be.
Lightweight RWD with an Autech-tuned SR20.
Well nissan is in the process of rolling out a twin turbo 3.0, and using a turbo4 benz engine, might even start making infinitis on benz platforms too i think i heard. So, some important building blocks there for something Z or S related.
They should take a clue from Toyota and BMW, who are apparently making the next Supra/Z4 together. Nissan/Mercedes should coop the next SLK/Z car. By then, benz might be back to using inline sixes, and we could have like a model year 2020 Z car with an inline, as it was meant to be.
In the real world, nobody cares about Nissan sports cars. 30 people buy Corvettes for every one person who buys a GT-R.
Total U.S. sales in 2015:
- Ford Mustang: 122,349
- Chevrolet Corvette: 33,329
- Porsche 911: 9,898
- Nissan 370Z: 7,391
- Nissan GT-R: 1,105

The Z has been mostly unchanged for years now, everyone who wanted one bought one.
Also the GT-R costs like 3 times as much as a base model 'vette and has little appeal to 'boomers, the demographic most likely to buy those kinds of cars.
If they just made literally this, it would be perfect.
Priced comparatively to the GT86. Turbo or an N/A Autech version, RWD, LSD, fairly lightweight.
But there's no demand for it. There will never be another post-oil crisis golden age like 1985-1999.

Front end reminds me too much of the g37
>>14553166
Except it loses the G37's worst feature, the headlights, in exchange for something more along the lines if the R34. I think it's a good design.
>>14553105
Not even twice as much but yeah.
>>14553478
Still, there's a huge gap between the number of people who can buy a 55k car and the number who can buy a 101k car.

The coupe headlights slope up around the hood more, looks silly imo.
