Way to look like a try hard.

dude fuck off. i'm asking if it's a good deal, not if your autism is going to be sated.
>>
>>14489302
Its an awful deal. The transmission will explode if it hasn't already and you'll be out $10k minimum right out of the gate.
>>
>>14489337
why would they strap a bomb to the transmission? is this like Speed?

Google it then you fucking retard.

It's one of those "if you can't afford it new you can't afford used either" cars. If you need to go looking for a sick deal then you probably can't afford one.

this is what sales reps try to make you believe

Sure that's true if your buying a fucking Civic but not something a GT-R.

i don't get these buzzwords. what's abused in this case? over revving? i thought these cars limit how many times you can launch and other things.

When it comes to luxury and super cars it is true, if you can't afford the car new you can't afford the maintenance.

The thing with sportcars is that they are either owned by adult/old people who barely hit the pedals or people who pushes them.

Also they aren't built with longevity in mind so combine those factors and a high mileage car of that kind is much likely to give problems really soon.

>>14489501
yeah but that's ferrari, expense is in their name.

Cost of a GTR transmission is $17,435.85

OK, because /o/ is full of autistic bench racers. I'll give you as much info as I can.

While never having owned an R35, I nearly did. I recently went through the research and test drive and asking owners process because I very nearly bought one. So I'll give you what I learned. Also, I'm in the UK for bare that in mind.

42K US is around 29K UK, when I was looking I found the better examples lay in the 35-45K range. Usually with Litchfield tunes. Anything bellow 35K was spotty. So In the US that would equate to around 50-65K USD range. In that range you can expect to get 2009+. Ideally, in my opinion, you'd want to buy a GTR from 2011 onwards. The face lifted models came with more power, but also a lot of "life support" tweaks to make them more reliable as everyday cars. The assumption being this will also be a DD. That's my 2 cents on price and models.

But in terms of this one. 67k for an 2007 is about right for GTR's at least from what I have seen. It's not uncommon to see average mileage for later models (2008/09 to be around 50k) so 67k is OK.

But here is the truth. If you want to own a GTR be prepared for a lot of maintenance and have a lot of cash ready.

Services on models pre-facelift, so anything before 2011, are recommended, and often warranty bound to 6 month intervals. And in the UK at a Nissan dealer, your basic service is around 1000-1500GBP depending on where in the country you are. So twice a year that can be an easy 3k cost in servicing. Factored to USD that's $4300 ish. Then there are tyres. When doing my research I was quoted, for some Dunlop runflats from a local tyre place at around £350 per corner. That's about $500 per corner. Depending on how you drive it. 4 tyres say every 24 months, comes to about another 1K a year averaged out. Then theres Petrol (gas). But thats a no brainer. It drinks a lot. So lets just say, for arguments sake, totaling stuff up, rounding it up you could be looking at around 6K per year.

Now driving...

So I spent a great deal of time researching this to find out how livable the car is. I planned it as a daily driver. So, again here is what I learned and experienced in my many test drives.

Quick proviso about tuned GTR's. Many of the second hand models out there will be tuned. But unlike many other performance cars, don't let that scare you at first. Many have been tuned, because these cars respond very well to it. However my advice, and this comes right from a GTR owner friend I have, is that make sure it's a licensed tune. I.e in the UK that's Litchfield. Not sure if that is the same in the US but in the UK Litchfield were the main tuning company with a properly designed tune for the GTR, which Nissan 'licensed' for lack of a better term. Maybe in the US there was a similar situation, or maybe Litchfield are doing tunes over there too, but either way. Do not buy one that has a tune form Bobby-Sue's Auto Tunes down the road. make sure it's a properly authorised tune.

As for day to day usage. It's actually relatively good. The back seats (if you care) are usable, but not as usable as say a GT86/BRZ. But still decent. The ride is, as you'd imagine hard. But not too hard. Gearbox is pretty good for most driving. The only issue is the car is terrible, and I mean terrible as 'normal' speeds. So if you're just driving about in town/city traffic be prepared for a very unrefined ride. The gearbox isn't set up for around town speeds, do You'll hear a lot of clunking and clanking from the autobox, and very very jerky and hit and mis gear changes at low speeds. Apart from that it's pretty good day to day, considering it's build for raping tracks.

Speaking of which. Tracking the car. If you don't have a lot of money, and want to drive the car daily. Do not, under any circumstances tack the car. Ever! Unless you can get a 3rd party warranty which allows for it. Just don't! You'll void any warranty on that car the second it goes on a track.
>>
>>14489998

To add about tracking it, and warranties.

The warranties are very very vague, as goes for most manufactures these days. So a lot of the time, even taking the vehicle to a car show held at a specific venue can void the warranty if caught out.

I know this from said GTR owner friend who, while at a car show at Rockingham circuit, had a minor issue with windscreen washers not working.

Rang up to call in the issue with Nissan's new car warranty people, was asked where the issue occurred. For some strange reason he answered Rockingham. Instantly voided warranty, they refused to carry out the work, and he had to pay for the replacement washer jet.

Oh, and if you do get a GTR and don't get a warranty, for whatever reason. Just be prepared to potentially have to sell your house to repair the car if anything major happens. Everyone knows about the 20k transmission. But the crazy prices don't stop at the transmission. Just like any other super car, part prices are astronomical.

That's all the info I have.

So In conclusion. Spend a bit more and get a 2011 or later model. Because a lot of these issues are resolved with the face lifted GTR's.

With 42k around, you'd mind as well get something else or save up a bit more...

The 07 GTR is rather old and if you didn't know already, old cars, especially sportscars, have a shit ton of problem.

i figured it'd be more reliable due to being DCT.

Mileage doesn't matter, it's all about service history. A car with 30k miles can shit the bed if it was never taken care of, where a car with 100k miles can easily last 200k more if it was maintained.
>>
>>14489302
>6 month service intervals
I assure you, it's a very expensive car to service and live with.
I've got a friend with pre-2010 GT-R which requires 6 month servicing and is very expensive for him to live with.

A Porsche 911 Turbo (996) or 911 Carrera S (997) is similarly priced and is much easier and cheaper to maintain and live with.
>>
OP unless you're incredibly wealthy this is a bad idea.

I know you don't wanna hear this, but don't convince yourself this will end up as anything other than a moneypit. Live in your means and get something cheaper.

You asked for evidence of a $42k 911 Turbo (996) and he gave two examples for significantly less than $42k. Just admit that you were proven wrong and go home.
