What does /o/ think of the FIATA?
>>
Let me guess, MSRP IS LIKE $97,595
>>
>>14487634
I like it.
Looks more in line with miatas than ND does.
Kinda like evolution of NB.
>>
It looks better. How many FCA parts in it? Also, is it heavier?
>>
>>14487639
MSRP is TBA, but it's highly unlikely that it'll exceed the Mazda's 33K top end.

>>14487671
>How many FCA parts in it?
Only the engine, which is the quite reliable 1.4 T-Jet. This engine is also more common (Fiat 500 Abarth), and it'll be easier to tune to about 200hp (compared to the Mazda engines).
>Also, is it heavier?
Sadly, yes, by about 100lbs. It's still a featherweight though.
>>
>>14487634
If the Abarth version looks a bit more aggressive and comes with a hard top then I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Until then, it's still a toss up between the Megane RS and the BRZ for me.
>>
Don't they come stock turbo?
>>
>>14487696
Yup. ND's come turbo too in lots of places, just not North America iirc.

>>14487695
>a bit more aggressive
Probably will.
>comes with a hard top
Nope.jpg. Highly unlikely.
>>
>>14487701
The previous 3 Miatas have all had optional hard tops, I'm sure the ND & the 124 will get one.
>>
>>14487701
ND doesn't have a turbo in Europe either, I don't think Mazda has any turbo engines right now except for the diesel engines

>>14487634
Can't wait for it to arrive at the dealership, if it's comfy enough for a DD I'll buy one, otherwise I'll go for a Leon Cupra
>>
>>14487719
Oh, as in hard top convertibles? Sure, they'll get that eventually, and if the factories don't make them the aftermarket will.
>>
What does /o/ think of Gary?
>>
>>14487727
Yeah, I still want the convertible, I just think I'd prefer a hard top.
>>
>>14487634
ARE THEY RWD?
>>
>>14487969
Yes, it's an ND Miata with the 1.4T that is used in the Abarth 595.
>>
>>14487969
wow

http://www.autobild.de/artikel/fiat-124-spider-fahrbericht-7173069.html
>>
>>14488004
Euro price =/= US price. Besides, German prices don't compare with any other Euro countries I know of.
>>
>>14488007
k, didn't know that.
>>
>>14488004
I'll wait for the EU models to arrive, they will be cheap as fuck
>>
>>14488007
>>14488009
For examples, here in the Netherlands, it'll be 33K starting. Every single Euro country taxes new cars differently. Some use VAT, some use fuel efficiency, some emmissions, then there's tax brackets for gas/diesel/hybrid gas/hybrid diesel/full electric/hydrogen, then there's LPG vehicles, it's a huge mess really. Mustangs can be 40K in one country, and 120K in another. Oh, and then there's ''work vehicle'' laws, which means a Ram 1500 can cost up to 150K for regular people without a company, but around 42K for business owners.
>>
>>14488025
that's ... disgusting.
makes me kinda sad actually.
>>
>>14488030
When you find the taax loopholes though, it makes it so much more entertaining.

A Cadillac Escalade EXT for example, is considered a work vehicle, because it has a truck bed. No VAT, no emmissions tax, nothing. There's even no road tax, which all other cars have.
>>
>>14488061
aren't those loopholes also the reason why 2+2 seat sport cars exist? those two seats are actually useless but they're still there
>>
>>14488080
Some countries, they might be.

A loophole that applied to the RX-8, for example (even in the US), is that is was a sedan to insurance companies, not a sportscar, because it had four doors. Now, the backseats in an RX8 are pretty much useless, but it did drop insurance premiums on them.
>>
>>14487634
Miata and Mustang had a baby

with crippled legs
>>
>>14488080
that's also why things like the 6 Series Gran Coupe exist. Most companies let you choose your company car as long as it has 4 doors.
And in Denmark you don't have to pay the ridiculous 130% new car tax if you register it as a van, which is why there are a lot of Cayenne Turbos or ML63 AMGs with just 2 seats. Pic semi related, an OPC Meriva with just 2 seats
>>
>>14488131

>MERIVA

>OPC

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHHAHAA

gotta go fast to the knitting and coffee party!!
>>
>>14487634
It looks like it wanted to have hard lines and masculine looks but some fucker who was responsible for road-safety didn't let them and made it look like a topless soap bar.
>>
if they put the 500 abarth engine in there....tuners are already getting that engine to 300 crank horsepower without compromising reliability

imagine a 300 crank hp ND miata and try not to cream thyself
>>
>>14488632
1. Yes, it will have the 500 Abarth's 1.4 T-Jet engine.

2. The 124 Abarth might get the even better 1.75 turbo out of the Alfa 4C.
>>
>>14489217
oh wait that was it, i was thinking of the 1.75T can get to 300hp with a tune. Again, that'd be some serious shit

the 1.4 would be great too though
>>
>>14488091
I thought the back seat was pretty comfy. No, I'm not tall, but I do feel very cramped in the back of cars like the Prelude, Celica, and BRZ. Heck, I thought the RX-8's back seat was more spacious than that of the e46 3-series.

I just don't feel the looks. MX-5 looks so much better and sophisticated in person if you ask me.

Also it's heavy, which doesn't make sense anymore as an MX-5 sibling
>>
>>14487634
There is a good chance I am going to buy one of these. Probably smarter buying one second hand though, am I right?
>>
Looks ugly as fuck
>>

>>
>>14488025
Denmark for example, has a 93% VAT on new cars.
>>
>>14487634
Remember the Opel Speedster, me neither
>>
Doesn't look nearly as nice as the original. Also I think they got the branding wrong: as an Alfa with nicer lines and a nicer interior it would have distinguished itself. But as is it's just an ugly Miata for (I assume) very similar money.
>>
>>14488025
Not a European, but how does this square with the 'common market'? What stops you from buying a car in a low-tax country?
>>
>>14488091
RX8 back seat was comparable to a larger coupe like the Mustang or Camaro.
>>
>>14494571

Pick onr
>>
>>14487721

Mazda has the turbo on the cx but mazda went a direction with there /skyactiv engines that makes them pretty shitty as tuner cars.

The skyactiv has a compression rate that is so damn high you can't put any FI on it or really do anything to raise the HP.

Not same anon but cars have to be registered in the country a person lives in, the applicable taxes will be added then. Here you get a fine equal to the cost of the tax, naturally you have to pay the tax as well. Not sure why the glorious union hasn't stepped in yet.
>>
>>14495865
Not really... Here in Italy everyone and their mother buys expensive cars from germoney or san marino
>>
>>14492413
Fiat engines were always reliable.
>>
>>14487634

Fiata Futang?
>>
>>14496111
I see, some places are luckier than others then.
>>
>>14495865
This does seem like something the EU needs to regulate, but I think it'd be a pain in the ass since I don't think we'd all easily agree on how the taxes should work.
>>
>>14496523
Depends. On the abarth, it didn't have the best run but it wasn't particularly bad. Makes me wonder if it was a lack of maintenance on part of the owners. Hopefully they have improved it, but it's still too little to say how things will turn out.
Looks are certainly an improvement.
>>14487634
The more cars on this platform, the better. Makes me wonder if ford's partnership may eventually lead them to release something along this line with a ford badge, leading to more of these out there.
