Don't fall for the Miata meme.
They're slow as fuck, completely inpractical, don't handle all that well and look gay as fuck.
>>14484303

>break back
Shit nearly rides on its bumpstops in stock form

Where are you located? If you're in the UK and it's £5k or less, I'd look at the following:
Honda S2000 3k-4k
Mazda RX-7 5k
Toyota Supra 3k for NA, 5-6k for the turbo
Skyline R33 GTS-T 3k, 6k for a R34
Porsche Boxster 3k but 4k would get a S 3.2
BMW Z3 1.2k
BMW Z4 3-4k
Nissan 350z 4k
300zx 1k-3k
Mazda RX-8, although a lot of these can be found for less than £1k, I'd go for a well maintained one which is around the £2k marker.
Also the early Audi TT is a contender as they're around the 1.5k marker now

I know this was a joke but an S12 actually wouldn't be a bad idea.
>lightweight
>manual
>RWD

You could probably also pick up an old RX-7 (even one with a blown engine) and engine swap.
>>14484299
Even a third gen MR2 is better than a Miata...

Jesus Christ, where do you live in the UK? Deflationville?
>>14484611
thats an s12 dude
>>14485499
Poor americans, most first generation ISs in Europe were manual :^)
>>14487104
No, an early 1997, 98 or 99 boxster 2.5 typically costs £3000-£4000.
Look at the car adverts, you can easily find an R33 GTS Skyline for £3k
I've even seen the 2.0 Skyline R33s go for £1k at times.
I would go for an sc300 for the nineties has a 2jz in it so it's good for modding if that's what you're looking for
>>14485448
The sticky was literally just updated at the start of last year.
>>14484582
I think he wanted a car that would work
>>14487204
The first gen ISs were manual in the US too, but they are extremely rare here.
>>14484580
>>14485448
The sticky is useless for anyone who isn't American.
>>14489484
It literally says "if you're in the US".
>>14489484
If you're in Europe then try Nairaland, they can probably help you :^)

>>14484610
>Mazda RX-7 5k
I know you're talking about FBs and FCs, but FDs go for like $20k in my area
>>14490224
No, in the UK you can find FD3S cars for £5k sometimes even £3k if it's in poor shape.
>>14490161
but miatas are horribly slow and weak vehicles
>>14484515
You can get w126 with manual? Is this in Europe or what
>>14484604
Agreed. Like half the cars are no longer available due to cash for clunkers program.
>>14490816
Which is $6-$10,000 USD. Which is also about what the go for in Canada if RHD.
>>14491044
Theyre there, just a little harder to find.
2001-2003 BMW 530i
I realize there are lots of people posting in this thread but this is the correct answer.
That, or super cheap miata + turbo kit
>>14484303
They’re also the most reliable MT RWD car you can get for $5k, are a ton of fun, practical enough for many people (unlike the MR-S), have a great manual transmission, and are easy to find in good shape. Not a perfect car, but a good one.
