You have unlimited resources to beat the cannonball run record of 28 hours and 50 minutes, what vehicle and modifications do you choose?
>>
Ultima GTR with a tiny cam LSx single turbo running low boost 400-500 whp. 50% overdrive with a 2.56 rear gear. 125 mph at 2k RPM. Refueling done on the move at 70 mph with a fuel truck.

Most important aspect of this journey is avoiding rush hours in flyover states.
>>
>>14482130
kek you think the rush hours in the "flyover" states are the ones to worry about? The worst traffic is in the places fags like you want to be.

This. Traffic on the interstates is crowded but usually at or above the posted speed limits.

Well, to beat this, you have to average about 90mph.

3rd gen rams have a 60.9 cu ft capacity which is roughly 450 gal

>>14483685
Unleaded gasoline is 6lb/gal and the payload capacity of the srt10 is 1700 lbs

You could haul close to 300 gallons of fuel safely in a baffled tank on the stock track oriented suspension. Installing a slightly stiffer spring would logically increase this rating.

Assuming you fill the stock 26 gallon tank and keep the stock springs you would only need a meager 8.5 mpg to traverse the country with a 300 gal aux fuel tank.
>>
>>14483786
LOL. Both of those are non issues.

>>14483774
Dumb as fuck. The point is to get vehicles with HUGE fuel tanks that you can ride in without getting fatigued and that DON'T attract police attention. The Hayabusa does none of those, even with a big fuel tank.

>You have unlimited resources
Simple, I buy whatever the fastest car on the market, arrange for rolling fuel stops, and pay off every highway patrol officer in the country.
>>
>Unlimited resources
Make it an official event so you don't have to worry about cops.
>>
>Unlimited resources

I build a private road that stretches all the way across the country and has no speed limit.
>>
>>14485016
But you want to accelerate fast in order to spend more time cruising at high speeds

And gearing aside, the damn thing will still be sketchy as fuck at those speeds
>>
Why don't we organize a cannonball run?
>>
>>14485083
Why you have 4 drivers. So they can rotate every two hours.

I've driven bus sized EVs at 75 MPhil for long distances. It can be exhausting.
>>
>>14485073
Make it perfectly flat and straight and lone it with gas stations and we have a winner

>>14485088
Because not only do you need a well maintained car, it can't be you mom's shit box. Not to mention the cat you use will be falling apart by the end if the trip
Also it takes lots of planning and doing it on a Mongolian flip book forum makes it pretty easy for it to be ruined before it even starts

>>
>>14485105
Still got to be economical.

You have the problem where more fuel means more mass and so more fuel is needed and you gain mass and it keeps going like that.

So the less fuel you have to carry the better.
>>
>>14485139

You could easily set up an RV to run a moderately powerful diesel engine to run ~100 mph and still get almost 20 mpg. The gear ratios need to be right and you need to have plenty of overdrive and the torque to lug at that high speed.

>>

I've driven Class C RVs that can top 20 mpg easy running 75-80 mph. With diesel you have enough torque to run crazy 50% overdrive.

Have a sealed fuel port, have the tanker pump heat the fuel to 40-60 degrees above ambient to maintain the pressure seal when it disconnects.
The seal doesn't need to be perfect as we can use a no-cap fuel door system with a motor to open and close.

A low lift/duration cam that makes a decent enough power to cruise down the highway at 125 mph around 2k RPM with a 50% overdrive and 2.56 rear gear. The low lift and duration will keep it easy on fuel. The turbo is there for when you briefly need raw power. Most of the time you'll be out of the boost just cruising. Think of it like a bigger version of a 1.3 turbo econobox. Turbo to get on the Intestate. Economy for cruising. Most turbo cams are relatively low duration and often lower overall lift compared to a naturally aspirated cam anyway.
