Are you sure about that?

Managing an expensive hobby like cars while also having a house/garage and living alone... don't think that would be too fun

I wouldn't have shit for room to work if I did bring my car in there. Even after I cleaned all the shit out a few months ago. At least I have a driveway and don't have to try and sneak around working in an apartment complex parking lot.

One of my friend's parents have a house with a 4 car garage (could probably fit 6 cars) and it has a lift in it. They don't wrench at all, but why not get a lift? I would love that.

I have been hunting for an apartment with a garage attached for a reasonable price. But fuck they don't seem to exist.

I'm not exactly thrilled to pay 1300-1500 a month for a place that is too damn big with a garage.

I just want a studio with a garage right under it. why is that so hard to find.
>>
>>14456568

I've got an apartment with an unattached garage. It's not huge, but I don't get too many complaints for noise or fumes since it's about 100' from the nearest apartment. I pay a little over $1k for the 2 bedroom with garage. That's about $250-350 over the market price for a similar apartment without garage.
>>
No garage right now but when I move into my next apartment I'll get one. New car is slowly gaining more and more scratches in the paint from inconsiderate assholes no watching their doors. Might just vinyl wrap it if it keeps getting worse.

Don't care at the moment since I have a commuting appliance but that'd be nice when I have a good car.

i live in a huge cheap rent controlled apartment and rent a huge cheap garage about a 10 minute walk away

Move to Florida. No snow, relatively few niggers in the right areas, and a 3 bed/ 2 bath can go for less than $200k.

Not to mention:
-No emissions testing
-Well maintained roads

I'm a recent transfer from CA, so I felt the need to shill.

Have garage, use it as playstation/hangout work on cars on my driveway, if its wet go to my in laws, they have an industrial building to store truck and trailers so work on my cars their
>>
My roommates turned our garage into a hookah/PS2 lounge and server farm, but they'll help me move the couches out of the way for a day or two if I need to do some basic stuff. They ask that I don't change any fluids that could badly stain in case I spill any, which I think is fair. If I need to do bigger work my dad will usually let me use a space in his garage for a while, I just wish I could keep my cars out of the rain and sunlight. Someday, hopefully.

That's not my biggest problem though. Is anyone else /no tools/ here? Barely any spare money as a student so I've been saving up for more and better tools.
>>
>>14459349
What do you do that allows you to live in the middle of nowhere?
>>
>>14462015
The one thing is if you invest in halfway decent tools and take care of them, you should be able to use them for life.
>>
>>14456547
Why the hell do your cousins get parking space privilege at your parent's home?
>>
>>14462029
That's my plan. I worked in industry for a while and I've snapped enough wrench heads off to know that I don't want to buy shitty tools.

Coral Springs is extremely white and smack dab in the middle of Miami and West Palm Beach.

Then again, it's extremely white....
>>
>>14462015
Dude, father's day and Christmas Lowe's will have stupid sales on tools. Like $200 300 piece mechanics toolset for like $100. I bought one 5 years ago and I've only had to buy a few speciality tools since. I use them for everything. Regular maintenance and even more involved stuff.
Kobalt tools are decent, and they have a lifetime warranty on broken/lost/stolen tools. You just have to register your shit. And actually in the rare case you break a tool you can just take it back to the store and they'll swap it out pretty much no questions asked.
>>
>>14462080
>Coral Springs
>White

I guess. It's just that the neighborhoods change so fast that anywhere in Coral Springs you are bound to have a few shitty apartment complexes somewhere close. Parkland and you are a little further from it. Or West Boca, or anywhere else in Boca if you have money.

Weston or Pembroke Pines as well. But it's still not going to be close to as whitewashed as most other suburban areas.

I would reccommend Wilton Manors for the buttplay.
>>
>>14462080
>>14462093
But then again I live in Deerfield which is so fucked up. Nice middle class white neighborhood. If I go 4 blocks east, it's million dollar homes in Lighthouse Point. 4 blocks west and I'm in the hood.
>>
>>14462091
Does Kobalt have different levels of hand tools? The time I had a shop change my oil, they over torqued the drain plug. I don't really know how to describe the ratchet, the socket just wobbled on it and I couldn't get a real grip. The wrenches just stretched open and slipped off. They were all from a Kobalt set my dad got me for Christmas years ago, but they might have been a cheaper option.
>>
>>14462024
I'm a CNC machinist, my wife is a horse trainer. And I'm not really in the middle of nowhere, in 20 minutes I can be in a fairly big city

Dont get me wrong, I enjoy seeing shitboxes piled up and being worked on. There are even a few mr2s and a gt3000 mixed in here and there which is alright. But its to the point where this shit is a parody of a stereotype.

LOL. In trades, you'll probably make $100k at the highest. The only way you can pull in more is if you work for yourself, and even then most of that money goes into running your business.

The most foolproof way to make that sort of money is to become a doctor, engineer, or lawyer.

>water well
Don't you have to boil water before using? Municipal water is treated to a certain standard so it's safe for pretty much everything.
>septic system
Now you have to maintain keeping your shitpot empty though.
>electricity
More expensive out in the boonies
>internet
Way more expensive out in the boonies

I'd wager that your utilities cost more than mine, and I live in the city, not the suburbs.

>don't you have to boil?
No. I could use it straight from the ground, but it's hard on the plumbing. I use a filtration system. Monthly cost is one bag of salt plus the electric to run the pump.
>maintaining your shit pot
Costs absolutely nothing. As long as there is gravity my tank cleans itself.
>electricity is more expensive in boonies
Not by much. The difference is less than $20 a month.
>I'd wager your utilities cost more than mine.
I pay less now than when I lived in town. There is a startup cost of course, but the longer I love there, the less it averages out.

> One car each
> Garage too small for either car
> It's full of stuff anyway

The garage is for expensive junk, tools, my bicycle, and the big freezer. The driveway is for cars.
Besides, all the maintenance my car needs is a service every year and fluids/tires topping up. And I can do the tires, oil, and washer fluid myself. Any other fluids need a special mechanic's screwdriver to access or even check anyway.

Move to the Gulf Coast of Mississippi
Live in pine trees so nobody complains about compressor/ tool noise/ paint booths- also no niggers
No EPA
No mandated emissions or inspections on any car
Absolutely no fucking traffic
3 bed/ 2 bath on 10 acres for 150k, sometimes less
Tons of perfectly graded abandoned logging roads for 'dem rally feels
And you're still only 20 mins from everything

Seriously, during Cruising the Coast, cops don't even care about you driving your twin turbo v8 with drag slicks and no lights down major highways (during the day)

Sarnia, a lovely little hole in the face of the Earth, its alright. House was a foreclosure that sat on the market for 9 months and had several price drops. Was originally 200k, the bank was a hungry whore with my offer and took it.

>>14468941
I know many tradespeople that break the 100k a year range. Hell, my welder on the pipeline broke 300k last year.

That lives away from home 95% of the time, works 16 hours a day, 6-7 days a week and gets fat bonuses for having a zero % failure rate.

There are plenty of shitty jobs, but none that pay that high

Still over paid as fuck
