The only reason not to choose one is if you can't afford maintenance or the gas it guzzles.

A Miata's double wishbone suspension is way better than the FC's MacPhearson front and whatever you call the nonsense going on with the rear suspension. This is not even a choice for me. I say Miata.

Well do you like a convertible two seater with a conventional engine or a larger two seater with more cargo space, and a weird rotary engine?

I love them both, but they're so different that its apples to oranges, even if it is the same manufacturer. I have a Miata and you definitely have to have a lifestyle that allows such little cargo space if it is your only car or else it wont work.

The FC has more cargo space, but are you willing to put up with the maintenance? I would like a FC but I definitely wouldnt want the non-turbo one.

Bone stock rotaries are pretty under-powered for what they are capable of. N/A's can push above 200hp with porting, intake/exhaust, and ecu tune. Although after that they become much more finicky to deal with daily.
