What's /o/'s opinions on the ecoboost mustang? I think it can be America's tuner car in a few years.
>>
>>14339529

You can tune them and pick up a fuck ton of essentially free torque. They have huge potential. Plus the stock numbers are impressive for a 4 banger.

What's the point when the V8 outperforms off the floor and in aftermarket potential as well?

i'm a shill for 4 bangers, and have only driven 4 bangers, but even i must admit that's pretty retarded.

>>
The Mustang was NOT the car to use as what's essentially an Ecoboost advertisement; building a relatively lightweight sports car would have been a far better flagship car.

Basically this, if you can't afford the veeayte then the ecoboost is still ok, it's got plenty of potential.

That said, the coyote has even more potential.

I4 has gotten a ton of love from the aftermarket companies. Check out the mustang6g forums. There's a ton of people and companies pushing past 11 (inb4 hurr durr 11 is for plebs) and still daily driving them. Tons of aftermarket turbo kits etc that are inexpensive for the quality.

I'm not European, I was just stating the facts. The Escort, Focus, and Fiesta are all made by Ford of Europe.
>>
>>14340403

Not that I'm trying do compare the design of either (that would be a dumb apples to oranges comparison) but the LT4, LS7, LS9 are among a few of the GM engines that are hand built.
>>
>>14340364

Pretty much every Ford sold in the US is built in Mexico or Canada. Some small parts are made elsewhere and some models are assembled in US factories. Hardly any parts for any Ford vehicles regardless of where they're sold are manufactured in Europe. Very few Fords are assembled in Western Europe. Basically no Fords aside from market specific vehicles are designed in Europe. Even then all Ford designs are technically American as they are all overseen by American executives, owned by Ford of North America, and registered there. In fact basically anything Ford does is American because everything Ford does regardless of location is owned by the American division that oversees Ford. The CEO of Ford in American either actually does or figuratively signs off on all designs.

>the v8 has more tuning potential
>>
I don't think v8 tuning for these new cars will be what is used to be. Bolt on centrifugal supercharger kits will be way overpriced and the days of cam and headers pony cars will be over.
>>
The only problem I see with the EcoBoost and tuning or much higher boost is the mechanical direct injection fuel pump. As far as I can tell the aftermarket really isn't there. And if like some other direct injection cars it does show up it might be several thousand just for the fuel pump. I know most of the high boost twin turbo GM V6 Camaros had to run a set of port injectors to supplement the direct injection. And for things like the LT1 and LT4 the only current upgrade for the LT1 fuel pump is to run the LT4 fuel pump.
>>
>>14340547
Which is why you buy the V8

>>14340984
You can. You just have to file as a collector and register the car as a collectors vehicle. You're technically limited to -2500 miles per year each on public roads, but you can drive them on private land as much as you want so theres no real way for them to judge where the miles were accumulated so it's an ineffective condition.
>>
>>14342927
>twin turbo V6 Camaro

What?
>>
>>14341006
Ford having branches owned and operated by european people in european countries.
Its like saying the ford rs200 is american, or even saying the older focus rs is american.
>>
>>14344185

Aftermarket Camaro setups obviously. But the same principle applies since the EcoBoost has a similar high pressure mechanical fuel pump for the direct injection system. In fact, I've seen a number of factory direct injection cars requiring a bank of port injectors to supplement the direction injection pump for high boost applications.
>>
>>14341385

But he's right, you know.
>>14341160

Literally 90% of the mustangs then were v6 and slushbox.

i enjoy driving it a lot. it's the biggest car I've owned, for what that's worth. sometimes I wish it was 6 or 8 inches skinnier, but it handles very well, even at speed. Have never been in a situation yet where I was sweating for more grip and i've done some seriously reckless hooning on mountain roads. it accelerates pretty fast, but it's currently stock and I'll improve it later on with some cooling modifications and a tune.

as a DD it's fantasic. super comfy, engine isn't too loud (i've ridden on long trips in V8s where the drone gets really annoying) gas mileage is decent. suspension is a bit stiff though.

i find myself driving way faster than I intend to with it. last cross state trip I did I probably averaged 85mph or more

before this, I've had a VW beetle, mk6 VW GTI, VW golf wagon, late 90's ranger, and a mazda 3.

>i get a VW family program from a family member who works there, so i've leased 3 of their cars

as a DD 9/10
as a sports car 8/10

very pleased with the car. I test drove a lot of other vehicles before buying it.

>>14347311
I'm actually thinking of replacing a family SUV with it, since it does pretty much the same MPG
>>
I'd like them better if they didn't sound like ass. Hard to make a I4 sound good unless it revs to infinity though.

Would toss this in the same category as the BRZ where it's a reasonably practical/efficient daily that's still fun. I wouldn't buy one though.

engine noise is about the same. they both have a modified engine noise piped into the cabin via speakers when in "sport" mode (affects throttle response and nanny assists)

i live in america, yeah. I've spent a bit of time in Europe, and I think it might be a real pain to drive it around there. parking is difficult enough without a somewhat wide body and a meter of nose past the windshield. the GTI was definitely easier to park.

as far as impressions go, when I was in germany some girls were squealing and creaming their pants at the sight of a corvette, so maybe similar to that. anything exotic looking and unusual goes over well, but I've had bitches chat me up here in the states over it as well.
