So since DeLorean is moving ahead with the new replica law in place, what other cars or brands do you think could be revived for replica production?

Keep in mind the replicas have to be based on a car at least 25 years old to qualify under the law, but are not limited by country.

The engines have to apply to current emissions standards, so it can't be any engine without quite a bit of modification involved.

There's so many replicas of Cobras, so did they all make a deal with whoever owns that copyright? Or is that thing so old its passed to the public domain?

The original companies could allow small shops to make replicas, or even manufacture them themselves in small numbers or on request. Kind of like how guitar or synthesizer companies sometimes reissue old models (like the Les Paul Tribute or Korg's MS20) while still making new models.

There's a few cars that I'd gladly buy brand new if the option was there.

Total destruction of all the production as "unable to compete with the superior foreign technology". Boring culture. Boredom and retardation of the movie industry. Constant economical problems.
Now all /o/ stuff we produce is retrobikes for rich people and movie industry, cheap and boring civilian cars, some okay jeeps and assemble foreign cars.
>>
>>14341179
Those are built on donor cars, and papered accordingly. I suppose the kit manufacturers could still get sued by rights holders (as has happened for makers of good Ferrari/Lamborghini kits I think). I'm not sure who owns the Cobra design, but it'd be interesting to see full replicas built without a donor chassis.

>Mopar Community is cancer

I'm in that community and only the guys wanting 6 figures for a duster are cancer. 90% of the other Mopar guys I meet are just glad to see someone below 55 getting into them as Mopars can be very very cost prohibitive due to less aftermarket than the Ford and Chevy pony cars and engines. It's a real compromise going Mopar though: You will spend more to finish the project, you will spend more on performance, and there will be parts you cannot find. BUT, you end up with an icon regardless of what you build. There is not a single 60s Mopar that people do not like, or rather, I've yet to meet a Chevy or Ford guy that didnt respect a Mopar from that era.

I was thinking about this last night. There is such a huge third party market for classic Camaro and Mustangs you can practically built your own car from them. If I was going to create a small car company, I think I'd make replica Camaros even though I don't really like them, I think it would be the cheapest route.

making replica camaros and mustangs under the new law would also completely kill the Boomer tax.

Checker is still around, they ust haven't made any cars for a while now.

>New vehicles from Checker could soon be on the road for the first time in over three decades, as plans are in the works to manufacture two new cars. Based on the classic Checker Marathon design, production of a both 12-passenger vehicle and a two-door pick-up truck is set to begin in the fall of 2018.

Wouldn't mind a brand new Marathon with a modern, efficient drivetrain to be honest.

If they were to remake, say the 60s muscle cars as they originally were equipped in the day, there would be a waiting list for that shit.

Too bad it'll never happen due to faggot safety / EPA regulations.
>>
>>14346955
Not going to happen until the feds harmonize the crash and emissions regulations on cars and light trucks, because utes count as cars and have to pass far more stringent tests than pickup trucks, making them more costly.

they still are required to pass emissions even if they are exempt from safety arent they?

To be honest, factory Mopar colors are awesome.

Anyways, the fact that Mopar fanatics are such diehards can be good. Swap in a Rat or Mouse motor, and it's glorious to see how mad they'll get.

Also, third gen Hemi is great for restomodding. Too bad there's no cheap alloys blocks for them, or it'd be as popular as the LS.
