Hey /o/, what's the worst car you've ever driven? Why was it so bad? How did you end up driving it in the first place?
>>
I'm going to go with a 1991 Chevy Suburban. This thing formed my definition of a lemon. It was intended as my first car but it was so shitty I didn't get to drive it much before it kicked the bucket.
Nothing worked right on it. The radio quit shortly after I got it, the climate control did it's own thing and it was always the wrong thing. The engine found new and entertaining ways to fail and the transmission was just as impressively ducked.

That cars only redeeming feature was it could body check a deer and not notice.
>>
Aside from the large variety of work vans/trucks I've driven? Either the ZX2 S/R for its godawful, hideous, and boring interior (odd considering how badass the stock engine bay is) or the new VW Rabbit for its numb steering and mute engine.

This thing.

Accelerated and handled like ass.

Was helping a friend move apartments.

My dad's 2008 Yaris. Terrible cheap interior, wheel felt horrible, wheezing 109 hp motor, truly awful manual gearbox, smashed up front bodywork, the throttle pedal right up against the transmission tunnel, and slightly bent rims.
I guess it wasn't that bad compared to other stories I've heard, though. My mom and dad's first cars were a Chevette and an exploding Pinto.

A renault kangoo rattley and shakes all over the place and a really heavy clutch still not as bad as a Vauxhall corsa
>>

>2008 Yaris
Same here. That and the first gen Yaris.
Both had a terrible sitting position (it literally felt like you were sitting in a wooden chair randomly positioned above the floor and the gearbox was so vague and had so much play it felt like someone took it from a van.
Truly awful cars.
>>
An early 2000 Ford Focus.

Shit was slow and the body roll was something else.
>>
My first car which was a 2003 mitsubishi galant. There is nothing really wrong with galants themselves but mine had water coming up underneath the floorboards. My investigation led me to believe that water would somehow get in and and somehow run unseen into air pockets in the floorboards which would then come up through small cracks in the floor. I could not identify where the water got in, but i knew it wasn't from underneath the car, as the car eould fill up when it rained. It must have gotten from somewhere completely hidden from view. Had to rip out all the carpet and constantly had water sloshing around at my feet since I live in Florida and it rains all the fucking time.

I ended up selling it to a junkyard for a couple hundred bucks, as I found it impossible to sell to anybody else.
>>
>>14332625
>terrible sitting position
That's funny. Since my dad started driving a Volvo V70 (he hasn't sold the Yaris yet) he's noticed that the seat was horrible when he went back to it.
>>
>Neighbor's 1991 Mercury Capri automatic
This car was a hair dryer wearing a Miata skin

>My 1986 Mercedes 300E
My first car, bought for $800 from a poor woman. Everything about it was broken and the odo had been rolled back 100K. Had it for two months and I junked it for $300 when my parts shopping list hit about $3K.

>Any Prius
They're like realistic video games. None of the controls have any connection to the car or road. It's a car for people who hate driving.

First gen. Peugeot 206

>anemic 1.4 diesel
>pedals way too close together
>gearbox rickety as fuck
>weakest headlight I've ever seen
>no legspace for anyone
>rear suspension so weak that it would nearly rub the wheels when hitting cracks in the road at higher speeds with only a few bags and some tools in the back
>stereo sounded like it was a stolen intercom of a pre-WW2 Soviet submarine
>terribly bolstered seats, and no comfort
>>

Next time get the GM equivalent if you want it to be quick.

If you want gud handling definitely get an Isuzu, the turning radius on those for a box truck is breddy gud
>>
2009 Honda Civic.
The interior was made of the cheapest plastic in existence. Absolute garbage visibility, even for a modern car. Cabin noise unbearable. Seats uncomfortable.
Close second would be 1998 camry.

1993 Ford Fiesta 1.1 petrol 55hp
rusted to death, builders foam used to cover up the enormous rust holes, weird smells coming from the engine, no power steering (eh can live without that i guess) but the worst thing was that all 4 shocks were busted, which made any ride above 50mph seem like near death experience, car bouncing all over the place etc. I was driving 4 people with it on icy roads once, was fucking terrifying. Oh god. My parents used to drive one of those. My dad still wants it back despite it being ugly as fuck, uncomfortable, slow and using a shitton of gas in the process.

As for my worst car ever driven; I'd say a 2008 Peugeot 207SW. Awful clutch and gearbox, slow, cramped, uncomfortable (causes mysterious neck pain), needs an oil refill every 1200km (Prince engine, combining the worst of BMW and PSA into a toxic stew of shittiness). Fortunately it's my parents' car, I'd personally never ever buy a Peugeot.
At least it's in relatively good condition, for a Peugeot at least. But considering its reliability, I wouldn't be surprised if the 2001 Ford Ka outlives it.

>>14332846
sounds very familiar. Peugeot, shitty cheap cars designed for people not into cars.
>>

1994 Automatic Ford Ranger.

Meanwhile, the best car I've driven is a tie between my 1992 5-Speed Ranger and a 2002 9-5 Aero automatic. The 9-5 was zippy but, but, I got to have muh gearshifts.

To be fair, my truck is the only manual I've had the pleasure of driving and the automatic transmission on the 1994 was absolute ass.

The only other vehicles I've driven besides these are a 2002 Ford Excursion, 1987 Automatic Ford Ranger (which had a better auto transmission then the 1994) and a 2006 Chebby Impala. So not a huge range to choose from.
>>
>>14332744

It's pretty close between those cars:

>1st gen Ford Ka
EVERYTHING was made from rust, I honestly don't understand how it hasn't fallen to pieces. Only the front passenger side speaker was working, it smelled like someone spilled milk in it, every time you opened the fuel cap, rust fell down on the floor, the emblems were gone and the steering wheel made some weird squeeking noise.

>1st gen Mercedes Sprinter
It was a 9 seater van with about 80 hp, had a top speed of 110 kph, an Opel stereo that didn't work, and I was once driving it through town while there were 2 feet of snow within a few hours when the driver side wiper just stopped working. I then had to drive with my head out the driver side window because the defrost on the passenger side didn't work either and I couldn't see anything. Also got stuck in snow 5 times within 2 km.

>2011 Peugeot 206+
Absolutely terrible to drive. No fun allowed whatsoever, cheap materials, noisy engine, manual door mirrors on a 15k car, more cramped back seat than some smaller cars (e.g. Twingo).
>>
>>14333171
>2011 Peugeot 206+
Well, it was supposed to be a low-cost car, innit?
>>
>>14333178

Didn't know they were even still making the 206 in 2011. Or is the 206+ one of those weird pseudo-people carrier things like the Golf Plus?

Anyway, definitely the 1.2 Corsa D I learned in. It just had absolutely nothing going for it - no acceleration, no feedback, a weirdly unpleasant interior...

Also, it made this unnerving rattling noise whenever you were on the throttle despite being almost brand new at the time.

Mind you, maybe I'm somewhat biased by the fact that all my time in that thing was spent driving like a 75-year-old woman because that's what our driving test demands.
>>
>>14333178
yeah but it wasn't that cheap except for the 1.1 base model and why would you want that?
>>
>>14333204
the 206+ is a 206 with a 207 front end swap and a new dashboard. You could have a 1.1 with 60 hp, a 1.4 diesel with 68 hp or a 1.4 with 75 hp.
>>
>>14333202
Nah man, the 206+ was low cost in the sense there was already a 207 but Peugeot decided to continue production while bringing down the prices.
Those 3 cars you mentioned aren't low-cost. A Dacia Sandero is a low-cost subcompact.

>>14333210
>1.1
Those were literally the most sold iirc.

My current Benz is the worst car I've even driven.
It's not bad per se, but it needs a fucking ton of work. The springs are cut, there's a huge fucking hole in the fender, rear bumper rubber strip is missing, transmission is groaning, temps don't like to stay bellow 80c in highway speeds, that sort of stuff.
I bought it as a DD because I needed a car and fast, it was the only one available nearby.

The absolute worst I've owned though was my 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix. It was just a terrible shitbox, rusty like a motherfucker. Actually, that thing was probably rustier than my old as fuck Benz I currently have is. Transmission was horribly sloppy and slow too. The engine was decent though.

yeah, I always wondered why you could have a Corvette with a NA 6.2 V8, a NA 7.0 V8 or a supercharged 6.2 V8. Or why you could choose between a V6 and a V8 Mustang... You could also contribute something to the thread instead of shitposting like the underage faggot that you are.

Euro spec Chevrolet Spark (2014-ish), with lowest trim level and smallest engine. Even Kia Picanto is better. It was a rental that I got when I took my car to a service. Some manufacturers really can't make a decent small car. I think it is due to the basic approach of making whatever model is bigger (Aveo I guess) smaller, cheaper and crappier instead of designing the model to be a supermini in the first place. Only the instrument cluster was funny about that car. Previously I got a Twingo for a day, when I took my car for a service and it was fine.

A difference in 15 HP? Come on. Why even give a choice for that?
>>
>>14334045
Yeah because the only thing an engine does is produce power.
>>
>>14334045
I know this is bait but it's mostly emissions, insurance, taxes. Also, it's not just about HP. There's a displacement difference of 0.3l, you can get a Ford Edge with a 3.5 V6 and a 3.7 V6. The difference is even smaller and there's a difference of just 20hp. Why even give a choice for that? We can keep this going forever, the result is the same: You're not contributing anything useful.

Who says I support that ford either? Is it really difficult with taxation and finance where .7l difference in an economy car?

The corvette example isn't a good one because all those engines are pretty different. The ones that I was referring to seem barely different at all.

And its general curiosity. Does that difference in size make such a big difference over there??
>>
>>14333171
Yes, the 1st gen Ford Ka was a rustbucket, but when well cared for it's a very solid car, albeit very noisy. I drive one with 92K on the counter, still fine.

Any Peugeot is awful.

>>14333224
The 206+ was the car that they shouldn't have spent their time on. But then again, it's a Peugeot, a car designed for people who don't know anything about cars, and bought by people bringing their previous Peugeot in for service because it broke down yet again.

In town it doesn't matter really. The only thing you save is money on taxes and insurance and you probably won't even save any money on fuel. If you go on the motorway, the 1.4 will be a lot nicer.

Source: I got to drive both and because it's a horrid car I wanted to kill myself afterwards.
