The aero Taurus was the best selling car in the US at it's debut, it was a game changer in it's day. You're absolutely delusional if you think a first gen Camry is comparable to the Taurus. Also, the Taurus had very good road manners for a highest powered FF of it's day.

Double wishbone suspension moves the wheel into a more optimal position for maximum grip under hard cornering load. Also with McPherson, wheel travel compared to suspension travel is a 1:1 ratio. With short arm long arm double wishbone it could be a higher ratio, meaning you get more wheel movement with the same amount of shock travel.
