The biggest problem is people think that "all-weather" or summer tires are fine for driving on snow.

Washington DC got shut down the other day because nobody had winter tires. That was due to 0.7 inches of snow.

What actually happens is people get all-weathers one winter and then proceed to drive the piss out of them all year, meaning they're practically bald by the time next winter rolls around and completely useless. Also, lack of experience with snow driving (because of how irregular it is in the South) means people deliver bad input and crash.

A/S tires are totally fine as long as you're not planning to drive on a frozen lake or Finnish rally stage.

No, it had nothing to do with snow tires and everything to do with the sheet of ice that was created as the snow melted and froze to the road. There was no pretreatment of the road so all the bridges were ice.

From RI here and after I turned 18 lived in Machias ME for a few years. I've lived in the south for 5 years now and I can confirm that this is not true. Bitches here know nothing of ice and snow. Never mind the idea of a multi-day ice storm is unknown to them.

I spend my late winders pulling their hick asses out of ditches with my stock 2wd v6 1/2t. The funny part is that almost all of these fucks have 4wd but they fucked themselves with the stupid tall lifts and stupid wide tires on their mall crawlers.

I lived up north before moving to Georgia.
Snow here is very different because it usually rains first then turns to snow. Which means everything gets covered in sheet Ice.

No one has winter tires/chains and there is almost no infrastructure to combat ice (very few places have snow plows/salting trucks).

Few years ago the guberment didnt predict the snow storm very well so everyone was released in the middle of it and it was horrible. You dont want kids stuck in a school bus for hours sitting in a snow storm.
Thats why the government overreacts now when ever there is a hint of the possibility of snow
