You don't have the manufacturer warranty any more, if you read the fine print, Mountune actually picks up the remainder of your warranty and then halves it. When you go in for a warranty claim you're going to have to jump through a few extra hoops to get it covered. Not saying that you will be denied, just that you will have a bit of extra oversight. Same goes for the Ford Racing tune.

It's the equivalent of having a 3rd party warranty but less scummy.

They're seriously fun, good power to weight ratio after some light modifications too.

I bought it understanding it's a hyped up shitbox, with an economy interior but really, what more do you need in something you drive hard? I don't touch the plastics other than getting in and out, the shift knob and steering wheel feels great, the Recaros are bomb, and I have bluetooth for music.

Other than that it's a tach and a speedo, you and the road.

No, the Fiesta ST is not a meme in North America, because there really isn't any competition. It's popular, it's fun, somewhat practical, and easily tunable. Unless Mazda or someone else wants to come out with a light and somewhat powerful hot hatch, it'll be king. I still dream of a Mazdaspeed 3, but it won't be out until at LEAST 2017 or 2018 if they announce it.

The 86 might not have a turbo from the factory, but you have a better seating position, better steering feel, better shifter, better braking, and obviously more prone to oversteer.

It is more enjoyable to drive both on and off the track.

I'm not saying the fiesta is a bad car, it's a great hot hatch. But the 86 is a great sports car. There is a difference between the 2.

Im driving 120+ miles a day and need something comfortable that gets decent MPGs and has more than 100hp.

No real common issues, some people got a bad factory transmission (like ~8 on the forums, out of thousands, Ford replaced it for them). I find the Recaros super comfy and I'm 6'2"/210, but not everyone does. The 14/15 have the old sync system, but I find it usable, as I only wanted Bluetooth music from my phone. The rest of the interior is bare bones, but the shift feels nice and the steering wheel feels nice (and what else are you touching really?).

Stock fuel economy is around 28/city 35/highway, and that's driving it pretty hard in the city/75mph highway.

Stock suspension is firm, too firm for some, but no where near a miata or brz.

Active and growing aftermarket and online community, you also don't see them on the road everyday.

Iv gotten 30 city and 42 highway out of my Fiesta ST, so the MPG estimates from the factory are incredibly conservative. Those estimates are what I'm getting on winter fuel.

The recaro's break in, I have a Focus ST and sometimes drive a family members Fiesta, who is a giant of a man and sitting in his car is like sitting in a crater because the recaro's have broken in to his size. Until then, they suck total dicks and sill stab you in the legs.

As for the interior, the best part about the FiST being so cheap is you can get it fully loaded for like 24k and the car is rare as fuck, so why get a bare bones one?

I've had my ST for 2 years and 30kmi and the only thing that's true is eating brakes. As far as I know the clutch issue is a Focus ST issue, not Fiesta, and I don't know where the CEL thing is coming from.

The interior is as good or better than anything else in its bracket in the US, unless you count the MINI, which is substantially more expensive. Most of the bad interior claims come from UK magazines, who compare it to European mini hot hatches that don't exist in the US. (VW Polo GTI, various French and Italian stuff.)

I wish people would stop comparing the FR-S and FiST. They really have nothing in common other than general price and the fact that they're both "enthusiast" cars. The Fiesta is a practical DD with added fun factor, the FR-S is a "junior" sports car.

They're good in different situations, too. The FR-S is at its best on a track or a high-speed canyon, where it can keep its revs and momentum up. The Fiesta is all about low and midrange torque, which makes it good on tight corner exits, making it great on technical canyons and at autocross. That low-end is also really nice for daily driving, as it provides a lot of ability to do sketchy lane changes and other traffic maneuvering.

I don't mind SYNC at all myself. I had an 8th gen Si before this and that truly had an awful infotainment system, as does my mom's Prius. SYNC is straightforward and reliable.

My fuel economy has been a bit better than yours, driving around LA with lots of traffic I average around 32, and I've actually managed to get 41mpg on road trips up to San Francisco.
