Color is a matter of taste, but I like all black better.

From experience, cons of this interior are vents that will eventually brake, and design of glove box and all that area.

From drivers perspective tho its proper race car feel.

First of all a classic BMW is all black, so this is a bad example. Otherwise with the exception of the big center "mono"-vent it is beautiful as all BMW interiors are. The mono-vent always looks wrong and autistic in a car. There have to be 2 vents. Vertical vents look like shit too. Round vents - depends on execution - but BMW is traditionally black and rectangular which is the style I like the most.

E90 has in my opinion the best looking dash interior of perhaps all cars. Clean minimalistic and stylish. Yeah it's not driver oriented as older cars were but it's got a concept and style. And black-on-black combination, although risky because it can look cheap, looks great on this dash.

I think they did a great job keeping all the controls in a tight, organised space. A lot of cars just seem to have them spread out all over and make the centre console fat.

Trying to make an interior look luxury just makes it look cheap and bad unless you go all in. By keeping it conservative you really can't find it askew. And it is an executive car after all, not luxury. I had a lux package M3 before and I definitely prefer the base interior in my current.

There is an older guy up the street from me with two 318tis. One has a S52, not sure about the other. They are great looking cars with some tweaks. A few swaps such as M3 bumper and Style 24s on the exterior really go far.

Funnily enough if you Google "318ti blue" the first picture to come up is his. Pixelly as it is I recognise the shrubs and sign behind it, about 100m from his house.

I learned to drive in one just like this, but with a few bits of wood.

E36 interiors are actually really nice if they're in perfect condition, but they don't age well. I had a super-mint low-mileage E36 M3 come into my shop for an alignment a while back, and after driving dozens of beat-up E36 track cars with broken glovebox latches and missing trim and shit, I was stunned to find how nice it was to sit in a well-preserved example.

Never sat in one but it already looks cheap and ugly, and looks are important.
Sitting in a BMWs drivers seat is very comfy as well, grea ergonomics (actually often praised by car reviewers as well).
I love the e36 interior, you get a low seating position for better car feel, perfect pedal placement, everything just feels very right. also

The E90 may have the more stylish interior, but the E36 and E46 are much more enjoyable to drive. The E36 and E46 were the pinnacle generations of the 3-series.
