Rover SD1 Vitesse
the build quality looks funny even several feet away and low res photo
>>14257379
It was a pretty cool car on that Getaway game.
>British """""Engineering"""""
>>14257379
> Rover
Unreliable piece of mostly-rusted shit, then.
They were selling one here for 4k euro, then 800 euro and now its probably scrapped, because the car is shit. It looks alrite tho
>you will never get impregnated by a rover sd1
such a musclular looking car
>>14257522
>that
>muscular
Jesus m8, that's the most British thing I've read today
>>14257522
>>you will never get impregnated by a rover sd1
nigga what
Its kinda looks like a 4 door Alpine, wouldnt be surprised if its design wasnt based on it.
>>14257379
nice ferrari
>>14257410
Literally the only reason I clicked on this thread.
>>14257410
>>14257955
>dat cossie wang doe
>>14257379
I love Rovers in general, and I know the SD1 was a damn fine car, whatever rubbish the ignorant boobs on this thread might be spouting, but they've just never done it for me, for some reason. I'd muchrather have a P6.
They cost far too much for what they are nowadays too, because muh classic car bubble.
>>14258078
the P6 is much better car and actually more sophisticated than the SD-1 despite it's styling
>>14257649
it's not exactly a girls car.
maybe you live somewhere where the women have dicks though
>>14258224
Didn't call it a girls car m8, just said it was an unreliable piece of shit courtesy of one of the worst car conglomerates ever, British-Leyland dying was the best thing to happen to the automotive industry
>>14258242
eat a dick you motherfucking piece of shit
Why are British cars such dogshit?
>>14258400
You must be a yank, you know nothing of the horrid examples of "automobiles" that got pumped out by BL, fuck off
>>14258242
>All of my knowledge on this car is from that one Top Gear episode
>>14258463
well bl is dead now get over it
>implying i'm a yank
>>14258532
It was a very good example of how shit they are, though a bit exaggerated Tbh, have you ever had one? Rovers were godawful pham
>>14258540
No excuses m8, it used a +20 year old engine design from the Yanks because BL R&D was such shit
>>14258547
are you saying the sd1 was an uninteresting car of zero merit and we shouldn't make a thread about it or even like it?
>>14258547
I had a Rover for just over a year. Not the most exciting, but faultless reliability-wise.
It was, admittedly, one of the much newer Honda-based models.
More generally, the reputation for iffy build quality is well deserved, I think, but that doesn't mean the company didn't produce some very well-loved cars. If you can't appreciate 'em, whatever. Plenty of people out there can.
>>14258598
That is precisely what I'm saying
>>14258601
Well what works for some doesn't work for others and when you compared them to the Jap and , suprisingly, even the French offerings were mikes ahead in quality and reliability
>>14257522
>>you will never get impregnated by a rover sd1
Good
>>14258614
Quality-wise, yes, the problems Leyland faced are well documented. I think the fact that the cars retain such an avid fanbase despite that, though, is testament to their charms, I think.
>>14258605
that's nice dear
>>14258601
apparently we should only care about technically good cars, however dull.
so corollas and civics.
>>14258674
I don't think the SD1 was necessarily a bad car technically, though I'm no expert. I think it's problems were more to do with trade union relations and poor quality control. I would be genuinely interested to drive a good example back to back with whatever the competing 5 Series was to see how they actually compared.
At the very least, the SD1 saw an awful lot of success in motorsport. Can't take that away from it.
>>14258670
Dumb nationalism is the only reason for the fanbase
>Muh British Leyland
>Muh they don't make them like they used to
There's a reason for that
>>14258780
I'm not sure that's fair. To me, at least, a lot of the cars just have something about them. I don't know if they could compete at the time, though I'm fairly certain many of them were much better than you seem to think. That's not what classic car ownership is about, though. You buy the cars you find appealing on a personal level, and drive them because it makes you happy. If you can't see that appeal, whatever. Like I say, doesn't make them any less appealing to those that do.
>>14258880
Not disagreeing, one man's garbage is another's treasure
would love to own one one day
>>14259447
Same here. I'd have to restomod it to make sure it's somewhat reliable. I love BL cars, but I know they can be rough.
>>14259447
I wouldn't mind one either, but being a 70's British Leyland car is pretty much have to do a complete restoration to make sure it wouldn't break.
The P5, 2000tc, and 3500 were actually good cars though. Too bad they are not really worth much.
>>14257666
>>14258619
what the hell is wrong with you faggots?
Problem with getting an SD1 in the US is that only 1254 were sold in the 2 years they were brought in. So is going to be hard to find.
Quad headlight conversion suits the v8 model so much
I don't know why they made them all 5 door. V8 should have been a coupe
wew
P5 > SD1 >> P6
You cannot prove this wrong.
>>14261986
sd1 is 200kg lighter, and 30hp more on the v8 compared to the p5 v8
>>14262004
>>14261986
so the sd1 is literally 500 lbs lighter for yank units
>>14262004
P5 isn't built like a rusty tin can
>>14262014
https://youtu.be/L_-ZCQ7WA0s?t=36
lets see a pigfat P5 compete
>>14262052
The P5 carries dignitaries and royalty
It doesn't participate in hooliganism.
>>14257379
I need vitesse wheels for my p6
Best Rover
>>14262217
I like the P6 but it never seemed that special to me.
>conceived in the back of a P6
>lost virginity in the back of a P6
>>14258532
You basically summed everyone on the bl hate bandwagon.
There weren't as many badly built cars as people say,the engineering behind them was also excellent
>>14257379
SD1s and older Rovers are rare as fuck in my country, would ship one from Britain.
Just that most are already rustboxes by now sadly...
>>14262270
Such a good looking and iconic car that Mitsuoka copied it.
>>14257522
>impregnated by a car
>musclular looking car
