To be fair, those cars are largely bought by women and metrosexuals even here in Europe. Not really. Punto sits between the Clio and the Fiesta price wise. Corsa's a fair bit cheaper, I'll admit, but that's presumably because they start with that NA 1.0l

And the Punto is still better built than the Fiesta.
The Corsa is cheaper because it's overall mediocre.
>>
>>14244338
I mean Fiesta's a bit cheaper; Clio's a bit more expensive.

The JTS is the best petrol engine economy and performance wise (I get about 32mpg).
As long as you pick one up that's been looked after and had the timing belt changed within the last 3 years you're fine.
Not much goes wrong with them other than some corrosion under the passenger footwell which will most likely have been sorted by now.

Now, you want to ask me how I know? I owned a Brera with that engine.

2.4jtd is unreliable as fuck.
>>
>>14249631
This is the reason I didn't buy a 2.4jtd after looking through the forums.
Fuck that noise, if I did go for a diesel Alfa it would be the 1.9jtd.
>>
>>14245431
That's because it's just a Dart with new sheetmetal and no turbo.
>>
>>14249711

Still, better engines out there.

Better yet, better cars out there than an Alfa.

I owned two, never again.
>>
>>14249711
the 1.9jtd/m-jet is fucking godlike. With a remap it pulls easily 200hp/400Nm.
>>
>>14249738
It's not. Not even the same platform and every engine spec will have a turbo.
>>
>>14249783
It seems to be the same way with lots of former Alfa owners, you either get a good one or a Friday afternoon at the factory special.

>>
>>14249954
Yeeeup, there's a reason it's been stuck in basically everything Fiat makes at one point or another.
>>
>>14249954

lel, no

Even if you were talking about the 170, pushing 200 through it would be pushing the envelope.

25% rule.

Plus, 400Nm is way to much for the DMF and clutch.

50K and there will be slippage if not sooner.

No one remaps a car to go around slowly.
>>
>>14243695

>>
>>14249989

>>
>>14249997
People who do those remaps always change the clutch.
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=1.9+multijet+200hp

There's also a vid of an alfa 1.9 pulling 380hp/650Nm with some mods.
Fiat's diesel engines are goat.
>>
>>14250172

No they don't.

The ones that do, usually end up changing a lot more than a single clutch and usually also dont stop at 200.

People that customize hardware are a very small percentage compared to the universe of remaps.

And btw, remaps should be banned.
>>
>>14250177
>The ones that do, usually end up changing a lot more than a single clutch and usually also dont stop at 200.

Dude, pls. I've been on lots of forums and I've read a lot of stuff about people who do remaps. They usually only change the clutch on those 25% remaps.
>>
>>14250190

Forums.

I've got bad news for you son.

Real life a bit different. On forums you get a skewed view from the people that use the internet, and those once again compose a small percentage.
>>
>>14250210

Dunno about the forums you visit, but the ones I do usually have real people showing their real cars.

I have a 1.3m-jet, I've been to a shop that does remaps and they literally told me I could easily go from 85hp/200Nm to 110hp/+250Nm without changing a thing with no impact to the general reliability of the engine.
Now, if I wanted a more agressive remap I would be looking to spend some money on a better clutch, change the headers and maybe even the IC.
>>
>>14250251

You are of slow comprehension.

The people that show their cars online are a small percentage. Negligible. Do you understand it now?

Every remap compromises components. Every. Single. One. Of. Them.

However tells "remaps don't damage anything" is simply marketing their shit. Remaps always remove the safety boundaries the engineers have put into the vehicles. Or go beyond that.

The 1.3 was designed for a useful life of 250.000Km. Anything beyond that is unknown territory. If anything I wouldn't even get near a small CC engine with remapping software.

Do whatever you feel like, I'm not here to educate you, nor am I here to have the remap vs no remap conversation for the 100th time.

If remaps were so good, cars would come out from factory with the horsepower level remaps offer you.

And no single electronics grease monkey on a back alley garage intricately knows more about an engine than a team of engineers that spent a decade designing it.
>>
>>14250342
>The people that show their cars online are a small percentage. Negligible. Do you understand it now?
Engines are still the same.

>Every remap compromises components. Every. Single. One. Of. Them.
Not really, no. Depends entirely on the remap.

>However tells "remaps don't damage anything" is simply marketing their shit. Remaps always remove the safety boundaries the engineers have put into the vehicles. Or go beyond that.
That's why they give you a warranty.

>The 1.3 was designed for a useful life of 250.000Km. Anything beyond that is unknown territory. If anything I wouldn't even get near a small CC engine with remapping software.
Pulled that out of your ass? I've seen lots of 1.3 multijets with more than 250k kms with general maintenance only/wear parts changed.
