Finished a set with white outlines.

this is the most frustrating thing I've worked on so far. Everyone who ordered these know each one is a huge labor of love. I've gone through 6 of these to get to these two and it takes like 20 minutes to do one.

It's pretty good, I looked at bigcartel and while it is cheaper it had stuff I didn't like, such as item limits and limited customization. Shopify basic is the same monthly price as bigcartel platinum (or whatever their highest tier is) but you get a bit more freedom. They also have their own payment processing which doesn't totally murder you with fees.

Yeah, outlines are more of a printed vinyl type of thing vs just straight up die-cut colors. Doing an outline die-cut out of white vinyl to go under the regular color would be a seriously tough job, if you misaligned the kanji even slightly it would look like ass.
Semi related Kantai story: It's funny, I went through a whole crapload of setup and stuff to make good replicas of every possible ship type logo in the game (you'll mix and match, buy the proper background crest and then a type kanji and apply them together) and a bunch of people were all like "oh man I'm so hype I'm totally gonna buy so many!" and then when I release them... crickets. It's one of my slowest sellers. Guess some people don't truly love their shipdaughters.
(As an aside I can also do the ship name kanjis as custom jobs too, I just can't really feasibly make every damn ship name a product on-site without it getting super cluttered.)

It's hard because there's no real way to line up the vinyl. The process would be to cut out the kanji, then cut the outline, after weeding the kanji you would use transfer tape to put it on top of the kanji outlines, however the problem is aligning it perfectly because there's no do-overs with vinyl. Replacement is very difficult since removing vinyl is destructive.

Basically, you put a box around your design and two boxes on either corner of the top. Then you copy paste the design and delete the parts that aren't in the layer you want. Do that for as many layers as you want. Then put it in your cutting software and make sure you set all the sizes the same.
That's how I do all my shimashit at least. It's almost impossible to get it 100% perfect, but you can get it to where it's not noticable

Not sure, I've done it before for graphics kits on motocross race bikes, and the riders wear through the stickers before they begin to even peel off. I think they are still fine after 2-3 years but I haven't taken a look at them for a while. The adhesive used might be designed for wet application, but I'm not sure.

So I had an idea for die cut decals while enjoying my supper. I could use a similar style for a brand of ramen, but use different color for different flavors. Each set of similar styled packaging could be a different series.
