I loved these things because of a Chinese cartoon, but when I got the opportunity to drive in one, I prepared myself for a disappointing experience because it isn't a magic downhill god machine. It's just a slow shitbox with fun headlights.
At least that's what I thought. Now I love them 1on their own merits. They live up to the hype. They're FUN. I'll probably get an S12 if I can find one. Same shit, not a memecar with a Dagumi tax.

I don't DD mine now because they're always spraying salt and I don't want anyone dinging it or t-bonering me or stealing it, I only drive it at 2-3 am. It gets annoying as fuck that its rare so if you fuck up or someone hits you, good luck finding another one.

Now, they're just track cars, weekend cars to have fun with, not a DD imo.

They're fun but slow stock, I've got a 7age in mine, was goign to save up for a standalone ecu and as tune but I'll save up alittle more for either a 1UZ swap or a BEAMS 3sge.

Fuck a 1uz swap would be nice. What's that like ~250hp? It would be a bit heavy though, have you considered another Toyota engine like an aluminum v6? The 1mz-fe is smaller than many of toyotas i4's and its to much heavier, they make 190-220hp stock as well. I also think TRD made a supercharger for those engines

Not without some mods. They're heavier, and the engine isn't as peppy as a 4AGE. Still a nice car, but don't expect the same experience. Granted, the amount you save by buying an S12 may be worth it in the end if you can do your own work.

Got mine for $6700. No major issues, stock except for suspension, essentially rust free. $5-7k will get you a good one in California. $10k is what immaculately stock cars with low miles go for, but I doubt you intend to buy a museum car.
