The career mode in 6 is much smaller than 4, but other than that it's all good. You can find good online lobbies if you know what to look for, but your best bet would be to join our club and add the members as friends. If you're going to get a wheel, get one that's PS4-compatible, i.e.: Thrustmaster T150, Thrustmater T300 or Logitech G29. Good luck with your cockpit build.

Netcode has always been a problem in Assetto Corsa but that last patch seems to have really fixed it this time. Nobody teleported into anybody and I was racing side by side with a guy with 250 ping and we tapped each other a couple times without it suddenly sending us flying into the wall at 300mph.

I had the DFP steering wheel, which was epic. I miss it dearly.

Driving the road cars is great because you have enough time to do finite inputs that really influence the handling. It's not the same with the LMP's or F1 car. I could put up some hardcore laptimes.

No, they're not thrown together in any particular progression - they're just short tracks that are (mostly) fun to drive while allowing competitors to tackle all sorts of corners, elevations, overtaking opportunities etc

And i DID do a workaround, we placed the grid manually by hand, and after that still didn't work we organised a manual formation lap. All relatively calmly without throwing a fit, except ovg didn't seem capable of listening to simple instructions. Should I have checked it? Yeah. Can you blame me for not checking it? Hell yeah. But this is one situation where you, mayor et al. were much more qualified to tell me whether it was working or not than I was, because until a couple of weeks ago I'd never turned a lap of the nurburging in rf1 or gsc. Remind me again how this is all my fault when I did NOTHING except upload the exact same version that we have experience with working perfectly? Besides, the original layout that was on the server WAS broken, because blood-1 only fixed the 24hr layout. The vln or whatever the fuck it was called layout still had every car after x position spawn a minute behind the dottinghole, so in addition to whatever issues there were today there would've been that to deal with.

After hearing what actually happened on the race start, I don't think there's anything you could've done differently except tell people who drove off early that they're getting DQ'd or something. But the point is that none of it was my fault, so calling me out in the thread trying to divert blame from yourself or GSC is bullshit. Converting from rF1 to GSC is something literally anyone could've done and you wouldn't find a single difference in the output, I just did it because I was one of the people with the track and already had the converter.

imo, until a rally game simulates the transport stages and allows the driver to go off-stage, it won't be a complete rally simulation.I want a game with the same size map as Just Cause 3, that you are able to freely roam and enter rallies as you like.

one of my major gripes about almost all rally games is how strict they tend to be about staying on the stage, while you can watch real life rally footage and find drivers making huge cuts through fields and driving well off-stage. These reset zones tend to make crashing less fun and realistic as well, as you're placed back on the track in the middle of a barrel roll having taken almost no damage.

also spectator contact should be fully simulated with ragdolls, none of this black-screen OMG YOU HIT A SPECTATOR RACE OVER bullshit. While yes, a real rally would be stopped in the event of spectator injury, the way the games tend to handle this is way too politically-correct and dampens the simulation value.

I don't like it either. It feels like an old version of Dirt Rally. The physics are passable for the era it came out in, but they don't feel complete, as if the game was never intended to be used for anything other than smooth gravel and tarmac stages.

Right now BeamNG is the top of rally simulation simply because its damage modelling is god-tier. If your rally game doesn't appropriately simulate what happens when you treequinox a Ford Sierra, you don't have a rally game at all.

I have no idea how to do rally setups. I guess it's better to soften the suspension and raise the ride height then on tarmac it's the opposite stiffen the suspension and lower the ride height.
My goal over the offseason is to get into Dirt Rally, both rFactors, and I guess Game Stock Car Extreme before the Rolex 24H at Daytona. I want to try GSCE for the F1 V6 turbo-hybrids and the Brasil Stock Cars. I didn't like any of the new F1 mods on AC. and when pCARS first came out I thought they would add the V6 turbo-hybrids for Formula A, but I'm glad they went with the Vettel-era screamer V8s instead.

I think there were a couple of PSX and PS2 games that had the South American touring cars but I never tried them.

I just installed Dirt Rally today and I'm excited but I didn't get a chance to really sit down and play it yet. I played some WRC 4 as a warm up to get used to rallying but it was shit. I thought about trying WRC 5 thinking it might be better but I haven't bothered. Having all of the accurate stages from the WRC calendar is the only good thing about those 'official' WRC games.

trento isn't bad in any roadcar I've driven, if you're not using a track map just look for the obvious slopes you will be climbing and estimate your braking/throttle off those as you can't always see the hairpin turn coming up

The latest AC updates have been cool but I think I was content with staying on version 1.2.
Kunos keep trying to improve the AI but you still end up having to edit the AI yourself and extracting data.acd files and shit to customize it. Sometimes they are too dumb and easy and other times they are over aggressive and kamikaze each other on the second lap.
The whole pit stop system still needs an overhaul in both single and multiplayer. Ditch the pit stop animations, it's more work to make different animations for each different type of car and different type of pit stop. You don't need that. Just keep the pit stop accurate to the rules. Like in sportscar racing fuel first then tires, in single seaters no refueling and only tires etc. Then you can have actual pit strategy be a part of the race instead of being restricted to 10 laps with fuel consumption on.

But the actual driving feels fantastic. I like the physics the way they are now; so I don't want Kunos to screw around with it too much. Compared to early access/ver 0.7 it does feel like a completely different game. No weather and pit stops doesn't bother me that much anymore. But the more I read the changelog the less I think Kunos are going to add rain and redo the pit stop system. It's a good game but Kunos just need to focus on the right things to make it even better. I don't know how Kunos expect to release AC on consoles and have people try to install mods, enable dev apps and extract data.acd files without the NTFS file system. like pCARS had no mods from the beginning so it was a different situation and they had mad bugs glitches and all kinds of teething problems early on in the console release that they had to keep patching.
