The correct answer should be 8.

the correct answer is 4 and a turbo
>>
Two.

>slave and master :^)
>>
>>14193604
Enough to bring you to the shop every other day to figure out what the hell is wrong with it
>>
>>14193604
2 lots of 3.

so it's a V6
>>
The correct answer is either 2 rotors or 3 rotors m8
>>
>>14193623
4 turbo you don't know the power of V8
>>
>>14193892
Ugh v8 is so gross

3 places for fuel on each rotor
2 rotors
2x3, its a v6
but wait, one combustion on each rotor vs 1 combustion on every 2 turns in a four stroke
its a four cylinder
>>
>>14193627
You don't have any brakes?

b..but its not a car its an xterra senpi
>>

>well akshually it doesn't have a normal piston engine, it uses two triangle/dorito shaped rotors to spin the equivalent of a crankshaft and make power. It's called a rotary engine, a Wankel rotary to be exact. It's hard to describe without an image, here's the basic exploded view off of Google images.
>>
Why are people drawn to rotaries? They waste so much petrol, require really specific mechanical knowledge to maintain, and even then it has to be maintained more often.
>>
>>14194870
Because they're unique, they're pretty decent performance, and they sound cool. Also they're light and put in RX7s.
>>
>>14194870
Way higher hp/L than piston engines, lighter, smaller, and smoother.
>>
>>14194902
>hp/L
Literally the worst measurement of power.
>>
>>14194902
>hp/l
>people still think this has ever been relevant
Just say "they make decent power"

>>
>>14194907
>>14194909
What's so bad about comparing how effectively an engine uses its displacement? I've never understood why it's a meme to hate on hp/L. Everyone always says it's the worst/dismisses it for irrelevancy and then never gives a reason why.
>>
>>14193934
It's so sad looking with no Doritos

>mfw I get to tell people how a rotary engine works
>>
>>14194921
Because it's something honda fags made up as an excuse to claim superiority with a 220hp engine vs a 400hp engine.
>>
>>14194921
It has no effect on actual performance, it's just bench-racing wankery.
>>
>>14194921
It's only relevant if you have a restriction on displacement either because of motorsport regulations or because you live in a communist shithole. Power to weight matters much more.
>>
>>14194879
They can be outperformed by piston powered engines pretty easily and with the advent of aluminium blocks, they're not that heavy, albeit at the cost of boost and increased likelihood of warping the block.

Can't argue about it sounding better, but i wouldn't drive a car for how it sounds

>>14194902 >>14194921
Because it doesn't hold much relevance. Power to weight is a much more effective means of making comparisons.
>>
>>14194939
>>14194951
When you're comparing just engines and not cars, power to weight is useless since there isn't a car wrapped around the engine to have a weight to compare with. If you want to compare power to weight of just the engines, then the rotary has the piston engine beat there too.
>>
>>14194951
It's just kind of a subjective thing. You just like it because it's a unique experience and it's how the RX7 was intended.

I always buy stupid shit juat because it's obscure and this is tempting me
>>
>>14194995
Don't buy an rx-8 anon, you'll regret it forever
>>
>>14194995
>RX-8
>obscure
>>
>>14195076
Compar the number of wankel engines out on the road to other traditional cars and yea they're pretty damn obscure
>>
>>14195091
and that's why you shouldn't buy one. the RX-8 has terrible performance and maintenance costs similar to the RX-7 -- why would you bother?
>>
>>14193604
>How many cylinders is it?
Does it look like it's made out of cylinders or did you mean "How many cylinders does it have?" you twat.

The answer to both is none.
>>
>>14194870
Simply put, they're really intriguing engines that put a slightly different perspective of thinking when working with them or driving them. The sound and feel they produce can definitely win some hearts and minds regardless of the flaws. Not to mention they are highly responsive to power modifications...

They don't require much mechanical knowledge, the first engine I had ever taken apart was a 13b from a junkyard 87' RX-7 GXL and it was a piece of cake cracking open. With only 3 moving parts in the entire engine there really isn't much to over complicate or go wrong aside from a couple of key components. I'd argue anyone with the Mazda engine service guide and basic wrenching skills could easily maintain/modify/upgrade a rotary engine with the given tools to do so.
>>
>>14193934
What is the logic that these niggers have to swap a car that was made around a rotary engine to a piston one
>>
>>14195332
The fact that it's a nice chassis with a pants on head retarded engine.
>>
>>14195195
>and maintenance costs similar to the RX-7 -- why would you bother?
just shut up

>Nice car, Anon! How many cylinders is it?

Well right now it has 6 but I have 4 more sitting in the garage that I'm going to put in over the weekend. Then I'll change the brakes for some carbon ceramic metallic slot drilled drum brakes that will definitely improve my horsepower. The exhaust is pretty restrictive so right now I have a stainless steel catback delete muffler resonator combination with semi-closed headers to keep the fumes from backflowing and disrupting the performance.
>>
>>14195091
Okay? Compare the number of 5-cylinder cars on the road to other traditional cars - that doesn't make the VW Jetta obscure.
>>
>>14195530
Kek'd. Thanks for the laugh
>>
>>14195332
Well, I like the look of an RX-7, but the sound and ease of an LS. So, why not? I don't go on the Internet and say it's better than something else.
>>
>>14197246
Vettes are easier to come by and come with an LS preinstalled
