298k

Previous owner said that the engine had been replaced 100k miles ago when I bought it, so what's in it is at roughly 120k. I assume the tranny has been replaced because its fine and 700r4's are known for issues. Maybe it's original? Hard to tell if the 700r4 is actually a bad tranny or just that rednecks that run 50" tires are surprised when the tranny goes.

Otherwise, the only issues have been the PS pump blowing a hose off of a fitting and dumping the fluid (scary) and the pinion nut backing off, necessitating a diff rebuild.

Engine doesn't burn or leak oil and the tranny is solid.

2006 RAV4
2.4L Inline-4
163,000km

-replaced MAF sensor at ~140,000km ($230)
-had driveshaft rebuilt at ~150,000km ($1070)

Fucking Toyota used these staked-in U-joints, so you can't even replace them when they wear out. Not to mention the lack of a grease nipple, so you can't lubricate them properly...so they inevitably wear out faster.

Toyota wanted $1300 just for the driveshaft, not including installation. I had the rear flange and U-joints replaced with proper ones, so I can now grease it at every oil change.

Other than that, car has been reliable. Bought it with 123,000km about 1.5 years ago. Starts every time, and still drove even with the messed MAF and driveshaft. Now it makes a loud groaning noise when I drive at highway speeds, but only for about the first 20 seconds and only since it's gotten cold. Probably the exhaust warming up, but idk. Don't think it's a leak because the noise wouldn't disappear if it were.

Pretty sure I need some new fuses because my wiring harness seems shot. Random lights keep coming on and going off for no reason. The other day my blinker alert sound just stopped working. Lights all seem fine and so does the engine so I can't be bothered to fix it.
>>
>>14190775
Only thing that's normal maintenance that I listed is the timing service. You could argue one set of valve cover gaskets as well.

>>14190785
No idea. I bought it with 109k, knew it had a clutch job done once already. Drove fine but started having a lot of clatter from the trans. Turns out the trans was a remanufactured unit and whoever did the last clutch job really fucked some shit up, hence the 3rd one its on now. Everything seems to be good. 50 is general inner city speed, unless specified otherwise.
30 is either in front of like kindergardens or other such areas, or in residential areas. Probably not exactly what you're thinking when hearing the words, but eh...closely placed housing, possible children jumping around.

Though we do also have a speed limit for those kinds of areas (probable that you could hit children). See pic. That's first gear and roll. Literally.

Electrical problems is all since I've owned it, I've got a short somewhere and it's draining my battery.
Other than a fuel pump that needed replacement when I moved to higher altitudes

$1200 replace computer and a sensor
Was the most I spent on it, only paid $3500 when I first got it.
Love this truck, but it feels sort of wasted on me, I work in IT and have no need to haul stuff or carry anything. It did help while moving houses.

Neglect from old owners means theres just leaky pcv and vac lines.. and a few stripped bolts. And the fucker cranked the valve cover bolts way too much and cracked it at most of the bolts.
>> trans
No issues. Really want to drain and refill the fluid but theres like 4 plugs and only one is okay to remove and I can't find solid info.

engine has caught fire twice, replaced with a 4 bolt main target master, caught fire again, stopped using quadrojet and haven't caught fire since. Fiberglass is ruined because of the fires though, need to replace the hood again. also everything that can melt in the engine compartment has at least once.

2004 Cavalier, approaching 130k miles.

Several minor problems with body wiring and cabin components have cropped up since 80,000 miles or so, but zero issues with the actual engine or transmission so far. I had a fuel pump go bad at 100,000 miles and a intake air temperature sensor connector go bad around 90,000 miles, if either of those counts as an engine problem. Pretty much zero problems up to that point. I'm still on the factory clutch.
