why are you such a punk bitch?
>>14180390
Not as bad as /g. G never gets anything done.
Back to tumblr with you.
Welcome to 4chan, I will be your guide for your first day.
Cancer just comes from /v/-tier shitposters who discovered this board.
Because this
/o/ is pretty bro-tier as 4chan boards go. Maybe you should hang out on /tv/ for a while.
>>14180411
Fuck you, I came here to shitpost, not to feel.
Go to /r9k/ if you really want to see anything toxic.
/o/ as a whole can be annoying sometimes but that comes with the territory.
Atleast dont actively hate everyone, ourselves, and anything that requires improving ourselves or our cars.
>>14180411
this isn't entirely fair. this site has had significant effects on me as i've spent a lot of time here over the past 8 years or so, but it's certainly not all negative.
>fit
had me lose 20 lbs and get into much better shape. i pay attention to what I eat and drink now.
>/o/
i bought a car after months of heavy research largely guided by you assholes. i love my car.
>/out/
i started hiking about twice a month with my dog. i love the outdoors now.
>/ck/
goes well with /fit/. i started cooking my own meals for the most part instead of eating shitty fast food all the time. saves me a good bit of money too (which i promptly throw in the /o/ pit)
>/pol/
if it wern't for /pol/, i think my views on the world would be more shaped by whiny mainstream shitters, for better or for worse
It's true that some places on here can consume you, and it's easy to throw in as much time as you have available. you can eat a whole evening here, or a whole year, or more. there's plenty of losers to commiserate with here, who are like an inverted fucked up tumblr, using cult tactics to scare away and ostracize anybody reasonable or productive or happy. But I've learned a lot, and in a lot of ways have improved my life at least partially to the goons on this website. after all, it's a blizzard of ideas and random snippets of thoughts more than anything. I guess the trick is to figure out which flakes to catch.
i'm rather fond of this place, just don't be autistic about it.
>>14180390
It comes with the hobby, jealousy and insecurity makes people act like dicks.
>>14180677
I disagree. I think anonymity does.
>>14180677
Miata owner?
>>14180668
Fair enough for the other 4, but /pol/? Yes, it'll pull you away from a no-fun-allowed/extreme-left-wing/social-justice-hero sort of thinking, but you're just listening to one extreme instead of another. As long as you recognize where /pol/ goes right and where it goes wrong and ignore tinfoil hattery, I'm sure it'll be harmless.
>>14180719
listening to both and pulling the truth out of both sides is the ideal way to do it, i think.
if you listen to moderate sources, you're just listening to people who have already done this for you. not saying that's a bad thing.
>>14180390
Come to /scoot/
There are usually only 4-5 posters but we're always friendly.
>>14180390
Twingo threads are always comfy.
>>14180390
because this is 4chan.
>>14180779
Do people really own scooters past highschool?
I bought when I was 14 because it was all I could legally drive. Loved my SR50R, maybe the best thing I've owned, but I couldn't justify owning one by the time I was 17 and sold it.
>>14181115
They make some badass looking scooters/mopeds. I'm half tempted to get one once it gets warm to save on gas to be an ultimate jew
>>14181142
>buy expensive toy to save money
>>14180668
I'm kind of in the same boat, except on a smaller scale.
I got into /k/ and it's been really cool. I used /k/ as a means to educate myself on being a firearm owner. With /k/, and other boards, there is a great amount of useful information if you exercise an ounce of common sense and take everything with a grain of salt.
Once I felt sufficiently educated on firearms, I went to gun shows, ranges and met people. It was a great way to get into that hobby and culture.
But, honestly, the >>14180411 post is right. It's very easy to get absorbed into the extreme, narcissistic opinions that are spouted on here on a regular basis and end up wasting a lot of time where you typically wouldn't be. So 4chan, like anything else in life, just needs to be used in moderation.
>>14181142
The previous owner had tuned the engine and removed the governor, so this little 2-stroke could scream down the highway at 95kph while everyone on their Honda Ruckus could barely make 60. I was the coolest guy at school and I wasn't even trying.
/o/ is probably one of the most interesting boards on 4chan. All we do is argue. I'd say maybe 5% of threads are actually about maintenance, restoration and general information about vehicles and their history.
>>14180411
Well, okay. I'm leaving 4chan for good. Farewell everyone. /thread
>>14181286
See you tomorrow.
>>14180390
because 80% of /o/ is pissed their history teacher gave them another detention.
Its toxic if you hang around in threads where shitposting is all you'll find and you also bite into their bait... hang around a bit more, you'll soon figure out which threads will attract the more serious folk who like discussing and sharing knowledge & experiences, and which threads is either straight out shitposting or will surely devolve into it within five replies
>>14180411
>>14180411
This is true with larger boards, like /b/ or /r9k/, which is where I imagine this was proginally posted.
/o/ isn't even that bad. Sure, its terrible when compared with actual dedicated car forums, but among 4chan boards its actually alright. Unlike /v/, I can actually stomach this place.
The tripfags aren't all retarded attention seekers, there are very good ones like TruckerFag and Longpost Guy. Trolls aren't completely out of control here, despite the apparent lack of moderation on this board. Anime shitposting is nominal, whereas elsewhere it can get unbearable quickly.
I think one of the things this board benefits from is not being as well known as /pol/, /mu/ and /k/. And there are people here who haven't given up trying to root out the hivemind opinions and change other's minds about things.
That said, like with used car buying, there are better options elsewhere if you really want to look. The only reason 95% of users are even here is because they came here from one of the bigger 4chan boards, which eventually they couldn't stand anymore and decided to lay their anchor here.
>>14182227
>Trolls aren't completely out of control here
I anchored here recently (from /v/ which was worse), but is going from type of massively obnoxious shitposting to the next a trend here? I got here when Alphonse (who is probably multiple people) was spamming GT-R vs Corvette all over the place. When that was over, FWD vs RWD and Civicposting immediately stepped in and wasn't any better.
>>14182255
This has been happening the whole time /o/ has been active.
It used to be
>m3 vs mustang
>cobra mustang = best value for car ever
>manual vs auto (this was huge for 2 years, lot less now. it was like 75% of threads)
>how mountain racing is the best racing
>viper vs whatever
>everything vs 911
Now were here. But there's always been this shit. And there's always been good posts inbetween. the hivemind in strong in the meme cars here
>mustang
>miata
>corvette
>gtr
>>14182288
>>m3 vs mustang
I remember that
>>14180411
t. normalfag
>>14182288
>m3 vs mustang
Shit, i missed that. I only got to see ONE mustang vs M3 thread (and it was pretty fun)
I'm surprised there isn't any Cadillac VS BMW or other German luxury brands since whenever i mentioned Caddy and Bimmer in the same sentence people would blow flames out their sphincters.
>manual vs auto (this was huge for 2 years, lot less now. it was like 75% of threads)
Damn really? hard to believe people would even fight over that unless its semi-auto (paddle shifters)
>>14182308
That's astonishingly close. What's to argue about? If you buy a new BMW, it's because you're
>rich
>want a BMW
You wouldn't buy a Mustang because you didn't want a Mustang
>>14182392
Well, mustang vs m3 was a lot more popular because the mustang was almost half the price of the m3 and had an lra, that played a huge role in the shitposting. The ats v and m3/m4 are priced pretty similarly
>>14182404
They were also neck and neck in the motor trend track test
>>14182447
That was in 2011? all the memes back then had me legitimately believing mustangs couldn't turn at all. I also thought they were much heavier than 3600 lbs
>>14180404
True. We got these...
>>14182227
Thanks Anon.
I thought of commiting Sodoku until I read your post.
>>14180404
ya know, I started 4chan with /g/ and it's sad to see it in its current state of rolling circle jerking generals
/o/ is moving in that direction now too...
>>14180411
>MUH MYSOGYNY
I happen to make more money than this op ever will. I choose to use this site because every other discussion site has catered to the 'social media' dogshit of group think, sheep-bleating and posting whats popular for social validation. Anyone who used the internet before it was bombarded by retarded boomer fuckery and gen z seeking validation would know it was the only place for honest discussion. This is one of the last outlets that allows the populace to give their original un-censored opinion on whatever the fuck is being discussed. Now google knows more about you than your own mother but everyone seems to be okay with this. I'm ready for Rome to burn once again.
>>14183678
>all this tryhard
>>14183678
Stopped reading at "I happen to make more money than..." Obviously hit a nerve so you go into a defensive rant.
>>14180404
Fucking apple shills everywhere goddamn
>>14183678
shut the fuck up anon
>>14183678
sys admin detected.
cringing irl.
>>14183678
>>14183678
>muh muh my monies!
>gen z
>implying 4chan hasn't been censored as fuck for the past seven years
stop pretending you know what the internet was like before normal fags got a hold of it
>>14180411
Oh please, what a pathetic post. True as it is describing 4chan, it sounds like someone who only visits /b/, /a/, and /v/. They probably got shit on by their parents for being a useless cunt. If you've been here long enough, you've realized that you can fight the shit easily and never let the bad feels take you.
I've been posting on 4chan since 2004. Although I love trolling and jocular insult comedy, I have always striven to make sure my posts are informative, correct, and above all, entertaining.
/o/ is special for several reasons:
1. Deeply-shared interest: Everyone here loves cars. Not all the same type of car, but basically if it has wheels and an engine, /o/ will whip their dicks out for it.
2. Ingrained board culture: Historically, posts on /o/ tend to be helpful because drivers don't want other drivers doing stupid shit on the road and crashing into them. At the same time, there is a precedent for unrequited trolling because automotive technology is a bit of an esoteric topic for most "normies" and it's easy to bait people into breaking things or getting in trouble. I really loved the thread yesterday about the retard who poured his old oil down a storm drain and the board lost its shit at him. Any shadetree mechanic should see through the shitposts instantly, and if they can't, well, that's a learning experience. Funnily enough, the culture of your typical auto shop is very much like /o/.
3. Specialist topic: Cars are expensive, complicated, and require care and maintenance. Not everybody's got one and there are a large amount of 4channers who have no personal transport at all. While the posts on this board aren't limited to car owners only, it's difficult for an uninformed, carless poster to contribute or troll without a lengthy lurking period. Posters on /o/ tend to be more responsible too, and this contributes to how they post. /k/ is much like this, though the lower ownership costs of firearms mean there are more shitposters.
>>14180390
You've just described 4Chan for the most part.
>>14180390
Mainly to protect it from becoming a watered down approval factory for kids and old people
The hard edge keeps things thin and focused and forces new people to learn fast or end up at the waysides
>>14180411
>21
>this is my life
>>14181308
>tfw no sign of fonzie for weeks now
The problem is people fall for bait. Just ignore the idiots and they'll get bored
Moderation would be nice too, but they only delete spaceship threads where everyone's having fun and leave the obvious shit posts
>>14180404
brb going to shitpost in /g/
>>14187456
I'm more worried about that guy who bought an Audi S4 2.7 for next to nothing and was posting loudly about how great it was and how we were all retards for telling him that buying a cheap bi-turbo could quickly turn to shit... I wonder where he went and why we haven't heard from him
>>14180411
>tfw 21, have job, my own place, but crippling depression
I wouldn't say this place is all bad though. I met some of my best friends on this website
>>14180390
Welcome to 4chan!
>>14180390
Because it's full of Europeans for some reason and they have tantrums if anyone mentions something that could be considered American. Check any thread that mentions:
>trucks
>gm/ford/chrysler
>off-road
>automatic transmissions
>anything larger than a 4 cylinder
>anti-anything Asian
>pro-anything American
Or any number of things really. Mention any of these and any Euro reading it will instantly start shitting themselves because they can't type "wow compensation much" fast enough.
>>14189880
I'm american and dislike 5/7 of those things
>>14189880
nice damage control fatmerican lmao
>>14189893
Cue above poster. See what I mean OP? Insecure as fuck.
>>14189902
>not getting that i was making a joke
lmao dumb americans amirite
>>14184357
>/k/ is much like this, though the lower ownership costs of firearms mean there are more shitposters.
but 99% of shitposting on /k/ is military related and most of that shitposting is related to russia and china
>look at this chinese weapon concept that will sink US carrier
>muh scenario
>su-24 crippled a US destroyer with OECM
>USA can't respond to hypersonic missiles
>scuttled abrams
>carriers are outdated
>constant PAK-FA threads
>constant F-35 threads
etc.
tbbh /k/ would improve overnight if russia and china were range banned
