Hey /o/,

Happy New Year my friends. I'm needing some of your advise. My wife is wanting a coupe as her new car and desu I have very little information about what the luxury car companies offer as face as coupes go.

My requirements:

1. Budget is 80k

2. Has to be luxury brand (professional reasons, this will be her DD)

3. Blind spot assist and xenon lighting a must.

I'm looking at the cayman but I'm worried it's viewed as a "fake porsche". Other options are the F type or 6 series. But what do you guys recommend. Had to be automatic since she can't into standard.
>>
>Buying an 80k car for someone who doesn't know shit about cars or what they want from one

Are you retarded, whipped or both
>>
>>14172094
>Xenon lighting
Half of econoboxes have xenon lighting now. What you're looking for is full LED lights.

I recommend the 6 series, my dad has a 2013(?) 650i and that thing is NICE.
>>
>>14172102
He doesn't even say that, maybe he's just offering advice.
>>
>>14172094
save yourself some money and get her a one series de-badged, she's going to wreck it anyway
>>
>>14172116
Yes, full LEDs. Currently have the bi-xenon LEDs and I don't want her to go back. It's a bit safer.

We will be going to the dealerships later this week, and all of them are in a row. She really liked the maserati ghibli but to me it's just a re-badged charger.

>>14172119
She's just wanting a two seater. She's always wanted one. Happy wife happy life.
>>
I'd say a mercedes CLS coupe

Other options

Audi s7
Range Rover(not a coupe but still good for the price
BMW 7 series
Lexus ls

If you want soomethign more sporty your options are
Corvette zo6
Mercedes sl roadster
BMW zm4
Porsche
>>
>>14172094
Must be some dank pussy if you are willing to pay 80k for a car she will have no appreciation for
Did you get a prenup anon?
Make sure you have the title, insurance, everything in your name so if she ever decides to leave you for Jamal you will get to keep the car
>>
>>14172138
>S7
>Range Rover
>7 series
>LS
Those aren't coupes
>>
Any idea what her colleagues drive?
>>
>>14172137
does the ghibli have anything to do with the charger?
>>
>>14172144
We both make roughly the same. Different professions but we own our own businesses. Thanks for the advice though.

>>14172165
Some of the electronics and interior parts are recycled from Dodge.

>>14172138
Half that list consists of land barges. She's wanting a coupe m8. 2 doors.

>>14172163
I know one drives an infinity coupe, the other drives a lexus, and her old partner drives a gran Tourismo. The men mostly drive 7 series, S class, etc.
>>
>>14172197

>gran Tourismo

i love that game
>>
>>14172208
Maserati GranTurismo* phone autotype
>>
>>14172197
this is all too depressing. just get the ghibli. she likes it, that's enough.
>>
>>14172215
Cayman is a good shout to be honest, it's a great car.

However, if you're more looking for the status symbol thing, then wait for the new SLC merc maybe? Though it's a folding hardtop rather than an all out coupe.
>>
>wants a coupe
>likes the ghibli
>ghibli is a sedan
>>
>>14172225
That was in 2014, but I think she would rather have a 5 series than it now.

>>14172253
That was from a few years ago but she liked the sound it made when you opened her up in the "S" mode.

>>14172245
SLC merc? And I'm liking the Cayman. It's decent for the price point and it gives her something to have fun in.
>>
>>14172269
>That was from a few years ago but she liked the sound it made when you opened her up in the "S" mode.

Ah, alright. See if she likes a flappy paddle gearbox, she might have more fun with it.

>>14172269
so then get the 5 series. how hard is this? just leave her to it and nod at the right times. damn..
>>
>>14172269
>SLC merc?

They're killing off the SLK for good and rebranding it as the SLC, cause muh heritage. But to be honest it's a better looking car than the SLK ever was http://jalopnik.com/the-mercedes-benz-slc-is-back-to-kill-off-the-slk-in-20-1748243493

Though looking at it, it's not released until next year...

I'm guessing 2nd hand is a no go? Because I'm sure you could pick up a 991 Porsche 911 for 80k with only a few miles on the clock, won't have the poor mans Porsche stigma either.
>>
>>14172094
>I'm worried it's viewed as a "fake porsche"
>light, N/A straight six powered, mid-engine sports coupe
>from a company whose best selling car is a mid-size luxury crossover
>somehow fake
The Cayman is probably more "true" than the 911 (excluding the GT cars) at this point.
What's your business if one may ask?
>>
>>14172306
I was looking. They have a 911 4S for 80k but it's got a few miles and I can't lease it. Tbh I can't bring myself to buy any luxury vehicle, especially a porsche. I'm better the 25K I'm saving buying used will be quickly used in maintaining the car out of warranty.

>>14172306
That's the feedback I've been getting. People choosing the cayman over the 911.

Business is real estate related (brokerage).

>>14172290
So cayman it is?
>>
Too bad she needs to impress people or she could get a Challenger Hellcat.
>>
>>14172338
Actually I would love to get her a Snek but I'm pretty sure she would kill either herself or someone else. But the ability to drive it on the weekend isnt worth risking her safety.
>>
>>14172325
>So cayman it is?

Genuinely the best option for the money.
>>
>>14172350
Thank you for the help. I'll keep lurking in case someone has another suggestion but I had a feeling it was going to be a Cayman.

Have you looked at an audi rs5? I test drove one a few weeks ago and it was pretty good. The 4.2 v8 had a nice little rumble to it and in comfort mode it was very well behaved. Performance wise it was petty good about the same straight line speed as a zl1 camaro and the handling was close to an m3 but with a little more understeer.

I was very impressed with the interior and it had a lot of assist features like blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruse and auto brakes. With the awd it would make a great daily even in colder winter climates

Cayman is a better sports car than the 911. It will actually show you have good taste whereas the 911 is just a status car for plebs.
>>
>>14174283
Yeah I didn't like the 911 and the coupe starts at around 135K.

The salesman told me that in 2017 they're gimping the cayman and putting in a turbo 4 cylinder since too many people are opting for the naturally aspirated 6 cylinder in the current cayman. In 2017 the 911 will have the 6 cylinder only.
>>
>>14174307
The lowest base 911 is more expensive than the GT4. Which is just retarded. At that price, there is literally no reason to get the base 911 over the GT4.

Nobody in that industry gives a fuck how you dress. I have plenty of clients in that field and I always dress down for them since it's a comfort thing.

Attorneys, doctors, investing firms and most other professionals judge you based on your presentation.

You would only understand if I took you along for a business meeting. When people know you're wealthy they literally throw their money at you in the hopes you produce a return.

But alas I must remember the underlying autism of this board.

That's a really nice project that you got in your hands, really hope the best. Isn't rally America only limited to 300bhp though? It's not like open rally events in Europe, bring whatever you've got, even a 560hp lancia that could burst in flames really quickly

I suggest to just start around some trails to get experience, mt Washington is a really good driving place for testing out the car, but it's dangerous. Monte Carlo roads are worse, so if you ever want to get experience, Mt Washington is good, or some twisty rural road somewhere in the mountains would be a good experience. Also, start with the stock 200, add a roll cage and new suspension, and just enter the lowest group. That's the best way a man can learn. Best of luck

Im in Broward County FL. But yeah i feel you.

>>14172094
Cayman is hardly the only coupe in that price range, and may not be what your wife wants with regards to smoothness or ride, interior room and road noise.

For a professional vehicle and a DD for someone who's not a car person, a Mercedes E550 coupe or very lightly optioned BMW 640i would make more sense.

They'll do a slight update to the body -- facelift, nothing major. And, they'll be changing the engine to a turbo 4 banger (still flat config -- flat is best). Other than that will be the same.
>>
>>14177217
They're ordering one with the black exterior and beige interior for us right now from another branch.

They will give it to us on consignment for a weekend.

I'm really wanting to get the 2016 over the 2017 because of the engine swap they're doing. Plus fuck getting the first generation engine from Porsche lol.

>>14177232
Wouldn't the flat 6 sound much better than the flat 4? If they do some noticeable facelifting (people I know will be looking for it) then the 2017 isn't a compromise from the 16 right?
>>
>>14177244
>I'm really wanting to get the 2016 over the 2017 because of the engine swap they're doing. Plus fuck getting the first generation engine from Porsche lol.

Honestly I would get the 6 cylinder (with porsche sports exhaust). People constantly ask me what I did to make it sound so good. The 4 sounds ok, but it won't howl the way mine does.

As for the facelift, some will notice, but its really not a huge deal I would think.

Having said that

>Fuck getting the first generation engine from Porsche lol.

Mines a '14 so it has the first iteration of that engine. I've put 30k miles on it, and literally have had zero issues. Do some digging and you'll find porsche unreliability is largely a myth. Porsche competes mainly in endurance racing just for the purpose of learning how to make things that go fast last.
>>
>>14177274
They really messed up with the Macan or whatever that new SUV is apparently. Something with the fuel lines.

So get the Cayman S or just the Cayman with the sports exhaust? I tried building one last night but that website is completely shit.
>>
>>14177244
>>14177274
I honestly can't imagine the flat 4 turbo being a bad engine, as anon said, their bad reliability is a long dispelled myth that ended with the 997.2. It's purely for EU emissions reasons that it's happening, and will probably be just as powerful and as free revving as the current flat 6.

That being said, there's no way it will sound as good.

>So get the Cayman S or just the Cayman with the sports exhaust?
Cayman S will have better resale/trade in options when it comes to that point, I would opt for a sports exhaust on the S too, it'll sound amazing.
>>
>>14177333
I just got off the phone with the sales guy. He said the new engine is good but it isn't a 6 cylinder.

>So it seems, for the wife, we are going to order a Cayman with the sports exhaust on it. Going in later to hear the difference.

Congrats duder. Your about to have a fantastic car.

If you're getting the 6 consider the base one since its for your wife. I'm biased, but I've heard from s owners that they think the base with PSE sounds better. If you plan on driving it (especially for the track) get the S. Also, make sure you get sport chrono, sport suspension (not PASM, the sport suspension is better). Seat coolers are nice too if you live in a hot place. Don't get burmeister (my old man had that on his old 911 and my Bose sound better). Carbon ceramics are good for resale, but otherwise they don't really brake any harder. They are good for track days, because they don't fade. But really they're just track jewelry.

I'll try and think of any other option related things I'd recommend throughout the day.
>>
>>14172403
You did well asking here for a car OP, don't listen to these jelly fags telling you to use google. Asking someone is really the best option you could ever get when it comes to buying a car which you don't know anything about.

I will suggest the Maserati GranTurismo.
The car will fit perfectly a woman (especially in red). It doesn't look as rough as the Cayman and just think of the first 3 words that come to your mind when you see someone with a GT.

About the price, it depends on the year generally, but I think 80k is more than enough for this car.
Good luck OP, hope you'll make the best choice.
