Still no doubt an excellent choice for people who don't care about cars.
>>
>As announced at the 2015 New York Auto Show, the sedan version of the Toyota Yaris sedan sold in Canada and Mexico (Toyota Yaris R in Mexico) from mid-2015 will be a rebadged version of the Mazda2 (DJ). Toyota de México announced production R Yaris model in Mexico, on the ground of Salamanca, Guanajuato, where the company has a partnership with Mazda. The same vehicle is sold in the United States as the Scion iA

>For the Mexican market, the car is named Toyota Yaris R because it will not replace the Belta-based Yaris sedan.[5]

Also, sedans are shit. Hatchbacks are better.

>>
Why not get the Mazda version?
>>
>>14171248
Shame. It's a nice looking car for the segment.

Mazda really hates the US/Canadian market, between not offering this, the 6 wagon, or the B-series.
>>
>>14170907
Mazda is totally dependent on Toyota for hybrid technology AFAIK (the partnership with Ford has ended). I'm not sure what Toyota gets in return apart from the Mazda2.
>>
>>14171566
>But anon, she's the girl who would love you the most and you'd be the happiest with
Not him but those kind of girls are 1 in a million.
>>
>>14171586
Mazda isn't selling those here because, apparently, they sucked before. The 2 for example was getting destroyed by others in the segment, which is fairly small in America. I guess no one bothered to tell Mazda that the last gen 2 sucked.

>No power
>Meh mpg
>No room
>Shitbox interior

This new one is considerably more refined and significantly more fuel efficient, but Mazda had doubts so they sold it to Toyota. Hilariously, it's currently saving Scion.
>>
>>14171591
An actual good car with some semblance of steering feedback instead of the usual appliances they churn out?
>>
>>14171606
Who dafuq wants a cramped Mazda 2 over a roomy Corolla?
>>

Mazda 2 and Corolla don't compete, you're better off comparing it to the Mazda 3

>tfw
>>
>>14171621
Niggas that want a smaller, cheaper, more refined, more fuel efficient car. Duh.

The compact class, which is distinct from the subcompact class, is filled with a bunch of fantastic options these days. Why anyone would buy a Corolla over a Civic, Mazda 3, or Imprezza I will never know.
>>
>>14170774
Looks much better than the outgoing Yaris. For a cheap economy car it's pretty nice.
>>
>Pontiac Vibe

>Toyota decides to take it and make the Matrix

>Pontiac dies a few years later

Well, it was nice knowin ya Mazda. Although I'm sure /o/ will be happy about Miata prices skyrocketing.
>>
>>14171639
Corolla has the best reputation for not breaking down. The others don't.

Why do people act like they're oblivious to Toyota successes?
>>
>>14171639
>Why anyone would buy a Corolla over a Civic, Mazda 3, or Imprezza I will never know.
Because idiots who don't cross shop and go off nothing but brand loyalty

>drive my cousin in his mom's Corolla because teenager
>"Wow this car is clean, what year is it?"
>"Oh it's a 2013"
>It's currently November 2012
>A brand new car and it felt like if was a decade old at least
>drove it and it literally made me a worse driver
>couldn't tell where the wheels were pointed, steering was over boosted and and absolutely no feedback
>transmission was only a 4 speed
>engine in my mom's first gen Neon felt more powerful

I never complained about other econoboxes ever again, a fucking Civic with a K20 felt like a sports car after driving that depressing piece of shit
>>
>>14171665
Except the Honda and Mazda are just as reliable.
In fact Honda is known for making some of the most rev happy and reliable 4 bangers ever put in mass produced cars

And it's not all that hard for Toyota to make a reliable economy car when the drivetrain is decades old

it is a rebadged Mazda in the US.
>>
>>14171717
That makes a lot more sense, that interior is too good to be a Toyota product

Shame that they ruined the Mazda good looks outside
>>
>>14171639
Eventually consumers will figure out all cars are pretty damn reliable these days, and Toyota will be in some trouble since they're incapable of making good looking or exciting cars.
>>
>>14171656
GM rebadged Toyotas, not the other way around.
>>
>>14171737
>they're incapable of making good looking or exciting cars
Even when they're given a good looking/exciting car to badge engineer, they still somehow manage to make it look like shit
>>
>>14171753
It's pretty incredible that all they changed was the lights and front fascia, and they managed to make a really stylish little car look like some Chinese knock-off from 5 years ago.
>>
>>14171665
It doesn't break down. Great. That's pretty much every other compact car sold today.

Fuckers could at least move past 4 speed autotrajikz. I mean, HONESTLY, would you want to be caught dead in an old Yaris? I know it's unbreakable, but it's also a shitty car. From France.

>>
>>14171605
The Mazda 6 wagon was pretty solid, but wagons don't sell well in America.
>>
I wish they would start making friendly cars again :'(
>>
>>14171910
I think it's more a CAFE thing. Wagons have to get "car" gas mileage, which is hard since they're bigger/heavier. But if they jack it up a little and call it a "truck" (i.e. crossover) it doesn't have to achieve the same mileage.

Of course this means the fuel economy regulations are accomplishing exactly the opposite of what they're supposed to: pushing people into less-effecient crossovers over wagons. Madness.
>>
>>14171688
>Mitsubishi Lancer is the most reliable

yeah that's totally legit

Thing is, most consumers don't care about any of that. So long as they can keep up with the pace of technology and as long as they can keep offering vaguely competitive finance offers, Toyota will do just fine.
>>
>>14172333
>can keep up with the pace of technology
They collect over $300billion/yr in sales and they can't even even keep up with the pace of technology.
How fucking greedy can one single entity become?
>>
>>14172354
They can and do, to a satisfactory enough degree. That was my point. Toyota has been making boring, workaday cars for boring workaday people for a long time, and it's unlikely they'll be stopping any time in the foreseeable future.
>>
>>14172168
They're pretty damn reliable if it's the regular trim and not a fucking Evolution
