For the retards who need help, i seek advice from people who work on their own or others cars.

How do you go about turbocharging a 4.3 vortec?
>>
>first time tuning
>wants to turbocharge
Just fuck my shit up senpai
>>
Weld the headers to the turbo, weld other end of turbo to intake, drill hole into oil pan for return line, get a turbo hose kit, connect one line to oil pressure sender, other hose to the hole you drilled. Crack open a beer.

Step 1: Remove the engine from the assembly.
Step 2: Throw it on a scrap heap

Why bother spending money doing the entire turbo conversion when the engine is just going to end up there anyways.

I agree, a vortec is a total waste of a turbo, build a 350, or an ls, or a 2jz, or something worthwhile.

thats what I've come to realize, And I don't want to accept it, I figure it'd be easier than swapping a new engine, I guess I'll save up for a LS and tools
>>
>>14165826
then why even make the thread
>>
>>14165826
just swap in a gen IV smallblock. it will bolt right in and you can plug and play the ecu or chip the v6 ecu,you will need a v8 eng sub harness or add a few pins and wires to the oem harness. for the two extra injectors. bam

how do i port the intake and exhaust on my ecoboost using sand?

ezpz.
make or buy a flange to mount the turbo to the exhaust after a 2 into 1 pipe.
buy an turbo.
mount it up,
pipe to intake
flash the ECU
done and done. its remarkably easier than many /o/tists will make it out to be, rough cost would be ~$800

bear in mind you may need to upgrade injectors i dont know the size of the stock injectors, for ~300bhp you will need 31lb/hr injectors.

You would insane to boost a stock n/a motor without head and bottom end work
>>

Run the engine steady at about 4500rpm and feed the sand directly into the intake.
The kind of port job you want depends on how much sand you feed into it.

Afterwards it's a good idea to feed high grade detailing polish in as well, and that will be called a Port and Polish, or P&P. That's good for at least 50cfm of flow and quite a few horses.
>>
>>14165983
you cant.

here is the correct method to port and polish a head.
>>
>>14166006
Yeah you gotta run it with no oil first so the sand doesnt damage the engine

entirely possible and perfectly do-able if youre doing it in moderation with lots of research.

NA engines run with huge amounts of negative manifold pressure, even a basic 3-5psi can make alot of difference. Ill admit ive only had experience with supercharging though.
>>
>>14166000
but that's just uninformed. There's only about 20,000,000,000 stock LS motors running boost worldwide. You just need to keep your tune within safe limitations. Most motors rolling off the production line can handle 40-50% more output without so much as changing head gaskets.
Turbos are kind.

>not driving around at WOT with aftermarket intake and exhaust
>>14166084
How 'stock' are we talking here?

Seems pretty stupid to boost the engine without at least a little bit of work.

And unless the engine was cheap or low milage whats the point?
>>
>>14166084
> ls
Stock internal Ls engines can't take boost for shit
The Iron block truck engines sure but not the aluminum blocks

intake pressure matters alot for making horsepower. an aftermarket intake might reduce the amount of negative pressure but it wont totally eliminate it, mild forced induction is a great mod for thsoe with the money/time/brains to do it.
>>
>>14166000
The 4.3 wouldn't need bottom end work for boost below 15 psi I reckon.
