So /o/, I've been thinking about this a lot. I want to swap an LS1 into my Solara and make it rwd/ The thing is I'm not too mechanically inclined so a lot of the work would be done by a shop. I'm also wondering if this would be extra difficult because lolfwd, any suggestions?
>>14161309
are you stupid like what the fuck?
*Facepalm*
You might as well buy a cheap manual SC300 and build the 2J that's already in it, not to mention, already RWD
>>14161309
is this a rehash of the old meme?
Turbo the stock engine.
Cheapest way for more power.
>>14161331
>might as well buy a SC300
I want to maintain the sleeper look of the Solara
>>14161332
Nope, I'm serious
>>14161334
I've thought about getting a TRD supercharger for my V6 but they're way too expensive and rare. I also want to make this car rwd.

>>>I want to swap an LS1 into my Solara and make it rwd
>the thing is I'm not too mechanically inclined
no need to point out the obvious
Am i being trolled?
>>14161367
I'm completely serious
That being said, do you guys think it'd be easy to make a gm 3800 supercharger fit on the 1MZ?
>>14161401
Save yourself the headache and sell the car. Or better yet, leave it alone and buy a 2nd car to do this to.
>>14161405
This.
>>14161351
Theres no rwd'ing a solara unless you have enough money to build a car from scratch.
If you want a good sleeper, ditch the rwd idea and get a 90's volvo wagon (940/s70) and drop in a turbo k series or a built vq.
Another idea is maybe a shitty chevy s10 and drop it a couple inches, posi rear end, and a built vortec truck engine from the junkyard. The stock heads are fucking amazing so drop in a cam and a chinese turbo kit with some nicer 63mm turbos.

You seem to be the only ones giving me actual advice. I have a good amount of money but I'm starting to feel like this is something I shouldn't go after. What do you guys think of a WS6 T/A?
don't know why everyone is turning you away from it
it'll cost like $500 and an afternoon
>>14161436
If you want straight up cheap going fast, get a foxbody mustang v8 and drop a chinese twin turbo kit on it with better high quality turbos. A tune and you'll make an easy 450-600hp. Spend another 5 grand to build the bottom end, better fuel system, and some head work, you can make at least 500-700hp.
If you want to look good and go just as fast, get a ws6. Chinese turbos, fuel system, head work, and internals, maybe 6-10k.
If you want to drift, get a 2jz lexus sc-300.
The stock internals hold up to 600-800hp. A nice twin 50mm turbo kit will give you a much more usable power range for drifting and it will be much easier.
If you want good handling, get a lancer evo and build the 4g63 in it. A nice 500hp is easily achievable with 4-7k.
Offroading, get a gm 4x4, a 2 inch lift, and huge fucking tires.
>>14161309
Just buy a corvette
>>14161502
>>14161510
Vette or WS6. Thanks
>>14161547
Vette if you want less interior space.
If i didnt nap in my car so often i wouldve bought a Corvette a long time ago.
>>14161502
>much more usable power range for drifting
>not a NA V8
this is incorrect
>>14161351
i know you think your solara is cool and all but just go out and buy a RWD V8 car and you will forget about that pos
are you really going to spend $30k having someone build a custom LS frame and putting of all things a solara body on it
>>14161351
>supercharging is too expensive
>better do a drivetrain and engine swap instead
>thatll save me some money xD
If you pull that off, I'll literally suck your dick.
>>14161436
>I have a good amount of money
>im going to spend it modifying a toyota solara
>>14161691
I'm beginning to realize that now, I'm not mechanically inclined but I can engineer
>>14161703
The power that the TRD supercharger would get me for $2k and the max is 4 psi on stock internals I'm sure it'd be cheaper to do a drivetrain and engine swap for max amount of power
>>14161736
I have $4k saved up, I go to school so it's pretty big to me
this fucking thread kek
OP just kill yourself
>>14161764
4k on a S/C set up is nothing.
Yeah you csn buy the S/C unit but what about fuel management, supporting mods, etc etc. youll go past the 6k range easy.
>>14161896
Which is why I want to do the swap because after all that I'm still fwd
>>14161660
Having balanced replacement displacement is better than real displacenent, mostly weight reasons.
If you want a v8 with torque, get a 1uz sc300 or ls400 and get a stroker crank and the heaviest forged pistons you can find. Ported heads and a set of cams should be enough for 400-500hp.
Always the option of slapping a turbo on for another 6-8 grand and making 600-800hp with a semi-assy powerband.
