While I haven't personally driven one, I have read more than a few articles from reputable sources stating the Mk4 gti is literally the worst excuse for a hot hatch ever produced.

While, of course, cars are ultimately subjective, and there's no problem with you liking the things if you want to, there's also no getting round the fact that particular gti has received an awful lot of hate from an awful lot of people who probably know what they're talking about.

It's been good to me. It's not as tossable as my mom's Mini but I love the motor. Surprisingly we've hit a stroke of luck, the most unreliable cars we know of have been reliable as fuck for us.

It was comically under powered, and the vents in the dash were arranged so you could never get air blowing onto your face, also the pedals were off set to one so you had to sit at an angle.

I actually went and bought one after thinking about a Maxima, Altima and a new Civic.
3 litre V6 turbo diesel station wagon with 215hp and a lot of torque, enough to rip skids better than my BMW while still having enough room to haul shit around. I love that car, it's a fucking blast to drive. Only problem is in cities and towns where the size and poor visibility make things a bit complicated.
