There's sites devoted to selling by a specific models, I think one of them just is called something like classic car sales, I can dig it up if there's interest but you'd probably end up paying for shipping to get your car to wherever you are because it lists cars all over the US

Otherwise there's always good old Craigslist, just filter by model year and your good to go
>>
>>14157441
Jeez really? You can get a nearly mint one for like 2-3k here in the states, how much Is it to ship over seas?

Maybe you could cut a deal with a US military guy, I think they can ship a car for free when they go over to Europe.

Currently mid-way through the largest effort/project i have done, removing the 1600 auto from my 77 Mazda Capella and installing a 12a bridgeport/4 speed combo

It's okay, anon. Spring will be here soon. Hwll its 50 today in Illinope.
>>
>>14157584
Thank you anon, your words comfort me.
>>
>>14157540
I'm pretty sure shipping and import taxes alone make up the majority of the price, also they have a higher uniqueness value here. It's not like these barges are littering our junkyards. Still American classics aren't even that expensive compared to European classics considering how much sheer car you get.
>>
>>14157602
That really sucks anon, still it might be worth it to look into that military car importing thing. I'm pretty sure they can just sell them right after they ship them over. At least that's the way it used to be years ago. They might have made it so they can't sell them anymore. But they can still ship them for free.

Hope it works out for germanbro, it warms my heart to see Europeans not shitposting about American classics
>>
>>14157620
Normally I wouldn't even consider American classics to be honest. They have higher running costs and while fun to look at and fun to just be seen in they're really not that fun to throw around on our roads. They're cruisers, and cruising isn't very exciting, it's mainly an appearance thing.
>>
>>14157636
I never understood the American classic bad handling thing. I dodged a deer doing 60mph in my 68 Fury, I'd call that good handling.

Are we talking stock American classics, or ones modded to be drag cars, because drag cars not handling makes total sense to me.

Or maybe Mopar just built better handling cars then the other members of the big three. No idea.
>>
>>14157665
Torsion bar front suspension was a godsend in the 60s. Lots of body roll by today's standards but very minimal for a landbarge.
>>
>>14157410
Why not? All you have to do is decide you want to. It's not like they're expensive and as long as you don't destroy it you'll get most, if not all, of your money back when you decide to move on. Quit listening to negative nancy's and live a little.
>>
>>14157882
I know that was a mopar thing, at least on the Fury, both my old 68 and my current 71 Sport Fury. But did anyone else do that?

I've heard the Galaxie 500 doesn't handle that great. But that was from an old Moparfag and I'm not sure if it's true.

Anon, this anon is totally right.
>>14157900

I'm 23 and I've already owned two classics, hell I picked both of them up for 2k each. The point is as long as you don't set your sights too high you can have a classic. It might not be a GTO but it'll still be awesome, believe me.

By the way both of the classics I picked up I was able to get running perfectly with only a few hundred bucks and barely any mechanical know how.

Just pick up an old mopar C body, or maybe even a lincon luxobarge, those things go really cheap for ones in surprisingly good condition.

GM didn't start using it until the mid 60s, Chrysler started in 1957 with Torsion-Aire, Hudson uses the system in the 1930s as did many euro manufacturers. The Chrysler system was the first of the big 3 to use it extensively and had the longest running usage of the setup (into the 90s and early 2000a on Dakotas and Durangos.) that mopar guy was only partially correct. It is worthy to note that in all the CHiP tests in the era, Chrysler always, and I mean always, won out.

I'm the guy that posted the list. Figured there would be some additions due to area. I know near me, there are dozens of 60s/70s mopar full size cars and not a single Impala to be had for anything near reasonable. Then again, Chrysler did have 2 massive plants less than 50 miles away and there are 2 more located up north.
>>
>>14157958
nice truck dude, how much you get it for?
>>
>>14159432
How I envy you anon. I think fury's are reasonable everywhere though, at least the post 65 ones. Boomers seem to avoid those things like the plague.

By the way I saw an amazing 1969 impala super sport that was actually in good shape in the Wyoming Craigslist, the guy only wanted somewhere around 5-6k for it too. No idea what was going on there, that car should have been like 10k more.

Can't decide on my next classic

Should i sell my Valiant/Ke30? Should i still buy anything i see under 2,000 or should i wait and save up for the next price bracket of $3,000+ cars?

It must have coke bottle styling, some exaggerated feature, either a big 6 cylinder or a v8 that produces a minimum of 160 hp. Round headlights. Manual is a must, will not settle for another automatic.

Then the years, it can't be anything made after 1977 because of Australian emission laws, but anything from before 1972 (year of supercar scare) seems to have a unspoken premium.

I like too many car models to be maker specific but Australian manufactured is preferred. The cars i do like and want are too expensive (XY/XW/XT Falcon, HG/HT Kingswood/Monaro, Chrysler Charger, XA/XC Hardtop) yet some models are cheaper than other models on occasion (i have seen LJ Toranas for as little as 4 grand with a 4speed+186). Some models are under appreciated but still fetch high prices (Chrysler Hardtops, TC/TD Cortina, Centura 245/215 Hemi). Your average joe sedans with base model engines are also creeping up in price (HJ/X/Z Kingswood, XA/XB/XC Wagon/Sedans, CL/CM Wagon/Sedans)

I need help, im never specific when looking at older and classic cars

Need some Ausfags to help me out

While trucks are cool, especially the stout, at the end of the day its still a 4 cylinder. If i ever needed a truck my first bet would be a f-150 as those come up pretty cheap occasionally. I do lean towards utes however, as the XC Ute seems to tingle my dingle. A nice old kingswood or valiant ute would do just fine also

>>14160119
Its on dual fuel, its a nice cruising car, but i admit its struggled up some hills with 3 people in the car before and the engine rattles in 2nd gear at speeds above 70km/h when running on petrol indicating an underlying problem i am managing to avoid while running on LPG thats not producing as much power. So while the car is rust free/minimal the engine will need work and so does the gearbox so when that happens, thats when performance upgrades will come in

Remove cable. Turn key.

Depends on what you're looking at but most of the ones people buy don't have enough flow (gallons per hour) to feed a lawn mower.

Pic related. I see this shit all the time because they're cheap and people cannot into figuring out what the car's needs are. Hurr fuel pump is fuel pump durr. Then they follow that up by installing it on in the front of the car up towards the top of the engine compartment.

You're better off buying one that already has some work done. That looks like it'd be a nightmare to make a driver.

Also, try to get a half ton truck if you intend to use it as a driver.

Well guys here it is. This is what my truck 360fe looks like now.
>>
Currently my first car is a 1976 ford maverick that me and my dad are fixing like some father son type shit. I love it. But its not fun having the car stall in the middle of a busy intersection because the voltage regulator decided to shat itself. Or the fact the CPU decided to shat itself 2 days later. But because of that I had a lot of old people help me, simply because it was their first car, great stories were shared.
Despite the fuel tank having holes
Or the lack of a/c (holy shit Texas)
Despite on me not knowing jack shit about cars.
I appreciate the learning experience and the greatness this car has. And I will be happy to break the one million mark with this car.

Just spent 90 minutes fucking around with getting a choke cable in the truck. The old one was fucked and I had to take the instrument panel out and move the heater controls and stereo out of the fucking way too.
And to top it off the nut holding the old cable in was rusted on and I just gave up in the end and ground off the front of it with a flap wheel just to get it out

It's alive /o/! My bro is friends with a mechanic who came over and helped me set the timing. I'm a retard apparently.

The front end is still dismantled, and I kind of fucked up. I need to replace the subframe, but I probably can't lift up the engine and tranny without hitting the distributor. Which means, that I will need to set the timing once again. And like a retard, I didn't mark TDC when my brother's friend reset it for me.

Engine and tranny out. Sitting on modified harbor freight dollies.

Super cheap to build. Just cost of dolly and some scrap wood. Works the same as the expensive as dollies. It just doesn't roll that good on rough terrain (which is all of my backyard/working area).

283/powerglide combo. Hopefully I can recoup some money by selling it on craigslist.
>>
>>14167945
Why do you have to lift the engine and trans to replace the subframe? Just get it up nice and high but stable, lift the engine up a few inches with a REALLY trustworthy crane:

Hydraulics are not trustworthy

And pull the subframe out from the bottom. Chilton's be dammned.

Everybody thinks hurr i have to pull my engine out to do this. Durr I have to drop the tranny to do my clutch. It isn't true. Take it slow, be careful, get the right tools for the job. Be patient.

However, the nightmare continues. I pulled off the engine and tranny from the donor nova only to find this. I probably should've looked at it closer. The 4 door nova originally came with a 4 cyl or 6 cyl. Someone did a backyard job to swap a v8 into it.

These engine mounts appear to be welded to the frame. Looks like a hack job. I think it will work since it had a 283 in it, but now I thinking about just going to the local frame shop to see if they can straighten out my frame. I don't really want those ugly mounts on my car. Plus, i'm too compassionate when it comes to destroying stuff.

I need a recomendation on a fuel pump setup. Engine is a 1.25 liter inline 4 which makes 54hp for about 22 mpg ish. Fuel demand therefore is fairly low. Fuel pressure is also supposed to be low, in the 1-2 pound range I believe. I'd like to not break the bank on this one. Suggestions?

>>14167973
Are you talking about one of these?

It wouldn't work with the engine crane I have since it goes under the subframe. Unless if I lifted the engine to remove pressure, unbolted subframe, and rolled the body back.

However, then that would require body dollies to roll the frame, and a lot of space to roll it back which I probably don't have. I guess it would be do-able, but I'm just not liking the other subframe.
>>
>>14168032
I wouldn't put my life on anything that says "Pittsburgh" on it. I'd just get some big beefy nylon cargo slings around the bottom of the engine that are supported in a very secure fashion (the more the merryer) and go about it that way.

Another thought is you could get the engine out if you were insistent on it, probably by just carefully lifting it while on slings, twist one way, twist the other way, with the hood entirely off and all. I can't imagine the distributor is THAT far out of whack.
>>
>>14168018
That is some super low PSI.
This may work. One guy commented it only put out 2 PSI, if it puts out more, try putting in a fuel regulator

Planning on a 2000km roadtrip for my birthday

Going to be driving the corolla as that is the most capable of being driven that long. ie, nothing is going to break

Its not going to be comfortable, but i want to travel so badly. What should i bring? might see a band as the goal, sleep in a hotel room and travel back 1000 kms

2000km is still a good distance, and you don't really want to do more than 5-800km a day tbqh. anything more than that and it isn't as much fun, it is just a lot of work. hotels are fun, but the best thing to bring is a good buddy to see all the things with you. flying solo is a little depressing ese.

Think about it this way.

New cars are about miles per gallon. Classics are about smiles per mile. So you may get 40mpg from your commuter and get 0-2 smiles per mile. My landbarge gets about 6-9 mpg at best, but gets me 17-29 smiles per mile. It's your choice, but the latter is way better and gas is cheap at the moment.

Speaking of 308s, got my over flow tank in, just need to bolt it somewhere. The only issue is that the side where the fitting projects from the radio has the battery, and the hose isn't quite long enough to reach the other side.
I may try and make a bracket for it to sit at the bottom of the radiator.

Pontiac a shit. The only reasonably innovative GM brand other than Cadillac was Oldsmobile.

Oh, and the first turbocharged production car. And less importantly but still notable, they offered the first production car with a speedometer in 1901, the first monoblock V8 in 1926, as you said the first high compression OHV V8 in 1949, the first head up display in 1989 and the first GPS navigation in 1996.

Hey guys, MG owner is back. Desiring to know how to start turning over my engine with minimal risk

The engine has not been moved in a few years
The motor oil in it is clean, but I do not know how much sludge is in the pan. I was going to change the oil before I start and see with a finger if there is thick sludge there

I was thinking of a squirt of wd-40 in each cylinder to try and do some penetrating, and a dab of oil for all the valves (which are greasy but not perfect)

Any suggestions on other things I should try? Should I disassemble the oil pump or just make sure after a few turns that it is pumping?

Thanx

Git gud. I even got the Dodge for free, the ford was $150, Trans am is $800, Austin is $400, and I also have a '92 Toyota half ton I got for free.

Is it safe to use finger to check for sludge or do I just absolutely need to drop the pan?
