I usually just assume it's an automatic which means if it isn't moving and the brake lights aren't on with the reverse lights they aren't backing up.

I feel ya, although mine at least doesn't beep the horn and just has the Toyota beep sound. But my truck requires a second press to unlock the passenger side. So I get 2 double beeps if I unlock both doors. And that is IF I get it right. I'm apparently retarded and fail to get the timing between presses correctly at least half the time (it requires a slight delay, but not too long - can't just press twice and expect it to work) so I end up hearing the shit beep 8 times.

Doesn't do it with my lights, but if I have the key in the ignition. And hell is it annoying. I figured if I had the key turned to the first position, which allows radio use, it wouldn't set that off, but nope it does. I have to have the car turned to the on position, powering everything, to have the radio on and door open.
