Road Trip /o/ Thread:
What's a good, spacious alternative to a VW bus that won't break the bank, is reliable, and won't make you seem like a rapist?
Also share plans, possible future projects, ideas, tips, stories, greentexts, etc.
i'm in the process of doing one of these

the video's potato, sorry, but it's the smartest conversion i've seen
Ford econoline. Get one with the round opera window.
Here's my setup, I was planning on going to Alaska this summer but looks like I won't have enough time, going to do Vancouver/WA/ID/MO instead most likely

With a delica? I'm unable to find any or the mitsubishi van equivalent here in california. VERY efficient use of space though. Are you outfitting it yourself? That's a lot more diy than i was thinking but it's definitely fascinating
>>14153867
That was one of my first options. What happened to van culture anyway? I remember there being a thread full of pics of people in the 70's with vans styled very similar to that one.

Tacoma's aren't the cheapest things and to be honest i'd rather have the dedicated van. I can see how yours is far more practical to live with though. Do you have any pics of what you take with you back there?
>>14153983
You can put the top (Flippac) on anything with a standard short or long bed. Here's the inside

>Vancouver
If I see a red Taco with a tent on it's roof I'll be taking pot shots at it from afar
.
Lol, I'm just kidding. If you come to BC, make sure to come in the summer, it's absolutely gorgeous. Outside of summer, it's miserable.

So that is you on /out/...
I like that setup a lot.
>>14154024
Yeah some of my family is from Port Angeles so I've been up there a fair bit, mostly going to ride my MTB at Whistler, Squamish, etc.
>>14154038
Yep, thanks, it's a good time and easy to deal with, the best part is it just works like a normal pickup with a camper shell when it's flipped down, not sacrificing anything to have it on
>>14153983
yeah i'm doing the delica myself.. it's not as tight as the guy in the video, that's just my inspiration i'm in canada and got the van from japan.. i know your usa rules are a bit stricter you'd have to get an older model star wagon but people camper them too

I think my favorite part about that is assuming you sleep close to your vehicle, you are high off of the ground compared to a regular tent.
I went camping a couple times when I had my Explorer. Brought a tent and just ended up folding the back seats down and sleeping in the back. Max comfy. I'm sure I could do that with my Escape too, it has a good amount of room.
I have a pic related. Do you think I can strip out some seats for bed space and take four to five people on a road trip comfortably?
>>14154123
you're gonna have 5 ppl sleep in a van?
>>14154172
Not willingly
>>14154123
Damn nigga are you me?
Road-tripped/camped in this entire summer.
>>14154475
I feel like that would only be comfortable by yourself..
pics of the honda roadtrip vehicle in action?
>>14154475
I have done a few road trips in my old DX coupe, based for gas mileage, lots of road noise, not comfy at all to sleep in.

At an overnight stopover

breakfast time...
>>14154505
If you can make a level bed surface, its very comfy. Depends on the car...and you
>>14153893
Is this your truck? I saved this sexy ass pic.
Planning on a 2000km roadtrip for my birthday in 4 months
I own three cars, all of which are shit but the one thats not going to get defected or break down is my oldest, a 1977 Corolla
New radiator, waterpump, thermostat, cylinder head and new tyres. Virtually no rust either, but its the slowest fucking car ever, automatic and has a top speed of 135 km/h (85 mph) meaning driving at 100km/h for 13 hours is going to be a nightmare
Planning on seeing a concert if anys playing at the time, crash at a hotel and trail home. Just for fun, never gone road tripping interstate and long distance by myself before
Anything i should prepare for? what do i bring for a 3 or 4 day trip?
>>14154172
When on the road for a nap.

Yes
