No they are RWD or AWD. In Canada you can only get AWD now though (I've literally only seen 2 2014+ RWD 350s on the road so far).

The ride is great and the adaptive suspension works pretty well. The handling and steering is absolutely great.

Lexus doesn't offer manual in the new ISes because nobody really bought them last gen.

AWD system is pretty good. Haven't had any traction issues. The AWD is very close to the RWD one in terms of driving characteristics surprisingly. They kept the same staggered setup for tires as the RWD one (225 on the front, 255 on the rear) so naturally there's a little under steer but it's not bad by any means. It's a pretty balanced car.

I was gonna say. Why do you have different wheels? Couldn't you use the same wheels and just change the tires?
>>
>>14152406
I'm pretty sure there's a lot of AWD ones because RWD used to be optional. IDK where I heard that from and IDK if it was even about the IS350.
>>
>>14153296
Theoretically, you COULD swap a vvti into a non-vvti car and vice versa, but it won't work function properly and involves a lot more wiring.
I ran a non-vvti rear sump 2JZGTE in a SC that came with vvti, was a nightmare to get it going, but the non-vvti rear sump 2JZ is the one you want if you're going to boost it. For an IS300, the cheapest and easiest way to go about it is a full Aristo swap with wiring harness & ecu. You won't get far at all with the IS300 ecu, Toyota cucked all 2001+ models.
>>
>>14153326
>>14153443
what about swaping the trans from auto the manual? not worried about the vvt-i and non vvt-i motors. I know it does help with efficiency and power tho
>>
>>14153414
Yeah I could've but I prefer to have separate sets mainly because I'd have to pay someone to mount the tires on the wheel twice a year and there's a chance of them damaging my wheels. Also I got 225 tires with 17" wheels all around because I've heard that some people with the 18" 255 tires accidentally get them popped from potholes and stuff in the winter. Also a thinner tire is generally better for snow.
>>
>>14153469
Freed engineering and Suprastore have kits for it, the toughest part is the wiring and you'll have a bit of welding to do.
You will also have to take a hammer to your trans tunnel to fit it. Use a 3/4 bore master, you will have issues with the 5/8
Wire it up to think it's in neutral at all times, unless you need to pass emissions, then it's a bit more work.
>>
>>14153516
damn didnt think too much about wiring
and about emissions i wonder how just having it think its in neutral fuck with the emissions.
also how do you deal with emissions testing based on your setup it seems impossible

I'm not sure if you know how OBD or emissions testing works, but if you program the car to think it's in neutral it'll never be "ready"
There's more to emissions testing than co2 output
Also I know a guy :^) It's the only way to get around it
>>
>>14153058
Running 0.6 bar of boost. Conrods are very very weak. For more power its easier and cheaper to convert to the 1uz v8 or the 2jz mated to a r154 box than trying to upgrade the 1g-fe

I used to run a lot of really loud cars, but as I got older the appeal sort of wore off. Maybe I am just some sort of old faggot, or maybe I just have driven cross country one to many times with exhaust drone.
>>
I never understood the point of having a loud exhaust on a luxury or sport luxury car. I can understand a slightly louder exhaust than stock provided that it provides more flow, but making it excessively loud defeats the purpose of a luxury car.
>>

Usually, when you buy a sports luxury car, you are the type of person that wants the thrills that come with noise, but still be sitting on leather and having a compliant ride.

The ride quality is very similar to stock tires, so it's pretty damn good for a sporty suspension. At highway speeds I can feel a very slight vibration, but nothing huge (I'm just very sensitive to vibrations). Overall, the suspension design of this car is great. They managed to give sporty handling characteristics with a nice ride quality. I think it's partially due to the adaptive dampers.

My IS300's TRAC keeps flashing and my ABS light is on. It happens every so often. Any suggestions?

What's the story there?

I think I'm going to save up for the Fortune Auto coils, pretty good reviews

Tax purposes?

>>14160399
Not really. I just have a condo in Florida.
>>
>>14160399
Lots of Canadians have a place in Florida to escape their shit tier winters
>>
>>14160422
>>14160439
Oh. That's fairly uncommon on the west coast, most just go back to China.
>>
>>14160439
Like now eh, Florida is always raining I swear!

But seriously can someone give me some shed some light on the TRAC light flashing? I've heard it might be spark plugs. Idk i'll give it a deeper look when I got time.
>>
>>14160478
It's indicating you have a misfire
Spark plugs, spark plug wires, check em.
>>
>>14160472
Go to fort lauderdale FL. it's all Canadians lol

There's a 2005 IS with ~80k miles near me that I'm considering buying. What would y'all recommend I check on it? Besides the basics, what kind of big services do these cars have approaching 100k?
>>
>>14160526
Timing belt at 90k if I'm not mistaken. Have them take care of the water pump, head gasket, and cam seals while they're in there since it'll all be apart anyways. Don't be frightened away by higher mileage examples, these engines last forever. Also check to see if the ball joints have been replaced; catastrophic failure if they go.
>>
>>14160762
whats wrong with the ball joints? I heard about the gs having issues with them but not the IS
>>
Should I trade my s13 for an IS? Nothing is wrong with it, just bored and tired of it slowly rusting away because I live by the beach. It's an auto tragic with 80k miles but I refuse to modify it
>>
Has anyone here tried the CXRacing Turbo Kit for the IS300? The kit is completely bolt on and a good one starts at $1588.

Yeah for sure if it's just an everyday car and you don't want to mod it etc
>>
>>14159814
Yeah. The second gen IS350 had pretty aggressive gearing which made it quick.
>>
>>14162318
So did the first gen considering it tops out at redline in 5th lol

Love my IS200. These cars have the best gearbox I've ever experienced + the looks are gorgeous
>>
>>14163069
I sometimes wish it had a 6th gear just so fuel economy would improve a bit. But yea, it still pulls hard at top gear.
>>
niggas, need your help, currently between a 2009 111,000km TL AWD for 19,000 CAD, a 2008 80,000km IS AWD 250 for 22,000 CAD and a 2010 50,000 km G37x coupe for 24,000 , what do? Need a DD with some power and nice to drive around
>>
>>14163683
I've got 6th ;3

>>14163143
What 'box came in yours?
>>
>>14161135

The real problem here isn't the turbo kit, the biggest cost is going to come from tuning the thing.

The is300 is a bitch if you try to use some kind of piggyback unit, you need a full standalone system and some professional tuning. That's going to cost you at least as much as this kit, if not way more.
>>
>>14165659
This is why you don't put a turbo kit on it. You swap to the aristo engine/harness/ecu ($2500) and go from there.

Yeah I imagine it could push 30+ mpg highway with a 6spd. What kind mileage do the beams altezza get?
>>
>>14167146
someone put it out of its misery
>>
>>14167146
A full tank lasts me about 10-14 days of regular driving. That's almost all city as well, only use the highway once a week or so.
