Any BMWfags out there? I fucked up pretty bad last night and was wondering if anyone knew how much it's gonna cost to repair/replace the panel below the passenger side door. Car is a 2007 E92 328i.
>>

about three fiddly

here's another pic
>>
Well, I'm a BMW fag, but mine is a poorfag E32 7 series.
The fuck did you even do to that happen? Stance it to hell and back and hit a coin?
>>
>>14151218
I'm just makin' a guess, but labor and paint match at least that alone $600. The new rocker panel is anyone's guess.
>>
>>14151226
no I was on a veeery tight road and some guy in a big ass truck pretty much forced me off of the road and I hit something.

>>14151228
Yeah I figured around $500 for paint and labor alone :\
>>
Is thew piece made of plastic or metal? If it's plastic the majority of the cost will be paint. This is also assuming that the piece doesn't extend farther than the picture. You should post a pic of the entire body panel from end to end. The size of the entire piece may determine the cost if it's replaceable. Just take a picture of the entire side of the car.
>>
>>14151256
>Is thew piece made of plastic or metal?
plastic

I'll take a picture of the whole piece when I get home, but the 2nd picture shows pretty much the whole piece
>>
>>14151226
>E32 7 series
Just curious, how do you like it? My uncles looking around for that generation 7 series
>>
>>14151270

Assuming the part is not ludicrously priced (unlikely because BMW), my guess is $1k for parts, paint, and installation. May want to get insurance involved.
>>
>>14151298
Avoid the automatics at all cost, like seriously. THe most terrible piece of shit I've ever owned. I mean, it's a very, very, very nice car, the epitome of a nice car, but that transmission is pure fucking garbage.
Just google ZF4HP22 and prepare for the horror stories for there are an infinite number of them.
Manual ones are bomb proof though, as long as you don't run into premature cam wear which occurs when the head bolts come loose as the thing doesn't have hydraulic lifters. Oh yeah, this applies to the straight 6 ones only.
Apparently the 3 litre V8 is garbage and the 5 litre V12 is hilariously awesome garbage, the chassis parts like shocks and such for the 750 are ridiculously expensive too, but it's a V12 so who gives a fuck.
>>
>>14151208
if you're not a pussy, just buy the panel and install it yourself and have it painted so you're not dropping $1k on this kind of job like >>14151351 said

Don't drink and drive.
>>
>>14151401
I was the designated driver :\
>>
>>14151208

Try googling before going straight to a service center, maybe someone somewhere has a used side skirt removed from a totaled e92, maybe even in your color.
>>
>>14151415
Well last night was new years eve so I expected 50% of drivers to be drunk.
>>
>>14151485

One thing to note is silver is a pain in the ass to paint match and a piece from another car may not match well.
>>
>>14151508
If I do happen to find a used skirt in my color and in good condition, should I/would it be worth it to take it to a shop and have it blended?
>>
>>14151401
I've actually never met anyone dumb enough to do this, let alone on New Years eve
>>
>>14151208
>E92

If you had a good bimmer and not one marketed to total faggots I would care.
>>
>>14151598
I wanted a canyon carver that wasn't a Miata or an S2000 and I can't afford a Lotus. Also something that would be nice to daily.
>>
>>14151615
>thinks an E92 is a canyon carver
>thinks only alternatives are S2K, Miata or Lotus
The E9x really was built for the faggot class
>>
>>14151629
>something that would be nice to daily
I don't just canyon carve. And with the rear sway bar, it handles pretty well.
>>
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR DRIVING A BMW DRUNK YOU FUCKING FAGGOT AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAGAGAGAGA
>>
>>14151656
did you even read any of the thread? I was the DD plus there was a checkpoint on the way home so I wouldn't be posting on a Taiwanese midget tossing board the morning after if I were drunk
>>
>>14151208
weird, I always thought those are plastic skirt covers just like on the E46.
>>
>>14151646

>3400lbs
>handles well

pick one
>>
>>14151677
It is plastic
>>
>>14151679
The E92 M3 weighs 3600 lbs and it has amazing handling
>>
>>14151686
I think?
>>
>>14151686
if you could find one from a scrapyard in the same paint that would be great, swapping the plastic skirts is easy
or just buy a non-oem one and find a decent painter
much cheaper than doing it at a dealer

>>14151687
Nope, it's a landboat
>>
>>14151702
I thought the was the M5 is the landboat
>>
>>14151687
I doubt that. Being fast doesn't equal good handling.

I would take an E46M on equally wide tires any day over that pig. And I would take an E36M with the same before that.
>>
>>14151715
>I thought the was the M5 is the landboat
It was the M5 until the M3 grew so big it could rival the M5
>>
>>14151702
>>14151716
landboat compared to what? A miata maybe.
The E46 M has better road feel and better for tossing around but the E92 is the quicker car anyway, and not just on straight roads
>>
>>14151735
It's 3600lbs, loaded with leather and electronics, and has soft damping to appeal to the 99.9% of people who buy the car and don't actually care about handling, it's a pig, no way around it.
>>
>>14151759
you strip the interior, get a pair of racing seats, do an engine tune and you got a poor mans M3 GTS which is amazing for the track.
>>
>>14151773
>get a heavy ass luxury car
>take all the luxury out of it
>have a track car that isn't eligible for any series so you can do open track days
Seems like a good plan
>>
>>14151784
holy shit I am agreeing with heartbreaker

i want off this ride.
>>
>>14151784
Look up pistonheads, bimmer forums etc. There are quite alot stripped and tracked E92 M3s.
For me personally, idgaf about luxury and equipment when driving a fun/performance car, I maybe want a decent audio system though.
>>
>>14151810
then why not buy an older car instead of ruining a new one?

this is about status isn't it?
>>
>>14151827
Doubt it, maybe for some it is. For me it would be about that lightweight 4 litre v8 with a 8400rpm redline and 400hp. And I like the E92s looks
>>
>>14151784
I find the track day car to be a ludicrous idea. Just get a spec racer or something that fits a real racing class. Doing a track day is just driving in circles, which of you don't live in s terrible place you can do on the street
>>
>>14151598
>implying the E92 isnt the best 3 series since the E30
top kek, you're probably one of those E46 318i owners
>>
>>14151810
I never doubted it was possible, there are also people who stance cars and extensively modify Civics, and I think that is stupid as well. Race cars are cool, stripped out luxury street cars that can't race because they don't fit into any series aren't.
>>
>>14151836
>292 ft-lbs.
>likes the looks of a 00' car

l.o.l. I hope you are being ironic.
>>
>>14151846
Track days are fun but you don't need to strip out a car to do them, just drive your regular street car with a second set of tires and some good brake pads.
>>
>>14151848
I'm not implying I will flat out say it.

the E30 is a garbage meme car. the E36 started getting things right and the E46 refined it. the best car since then was the E82.
>>
>>14151855
It is balanced enough. The M3 isnt a drag car or something. Also what is a 00` car?
>>
Depends on where you go, but e90 rocker is like $150
To paint and install a panel shops charge between $200-350
Where everyone's getting this thousand dollar shit is beyond me
Must stay getting ripped off

>>
>>14151876
yeah the e30 is a meme car but its far from garbage. its best advantage is weight. Only needs stiffer springs/coilovers and a faster steering rack and a 318is or 325i is a great drivers car. Also a good platform for engine swaps, i know lots of m52b28 and m50b25 swapped e30s, they are all pretty nimble.

Well, list on the part is $280 US.

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/part?id=WB33-USA-12-2006-E92-BMW-328i&mg=41&sg=20&diagId=41_1704&q=41117168983

The problem is, if the E92 is like the E39, that's structural, and will either need to be cut out and replaced (Fucking expensive) or slide hammered back out and patched.

IIRC, on the E36/38/46/6x these are plastic and replicable.

Fuuuuuck, that's so hot.

Ayy GSguy,

How much does an alignment run? I know I'm going to need a bit of camber to get these wheels looking a bit less... well you see lol.

Will -2 front -2.5 be enough or do you think more?

I doubt you'll be able to reach those specs
Stock suspension?
Lower the car and it'll camber in naturally. From there you can correct or add accordingly.
The price of an alignment varies, to set toe is $60, full alignments (camber, caster & toe) go for $100-150 depending on the vehicle as the process is different for some. S2k would be about $120
>>
>>14153603
Thanks for the tip.

How would you lower it? I'm not looking for super low or aggressive stance, I just don't like how it sits like a rally car

Just get a good shock/spring combo in that case man
Or you can get a set of coilovers and, you know, not thread them down too far lol
