No one else on /o/ would pick it, but for 5K, a CLK 430

That can be really tough, depending on your desire for reliability, cheap parts, etc. Sure you can find fast Audi's, BMW's, and Mercedes... but GL HF keeping them running.

However clapped out rice shit won't be reliable either.

Flip a coin whether you want an old Prelude/ CRX, etc, or that CLK, C230 Kompressor, BMW E30

Or if you want to dust the competition, get a Fox body, aggressive ass cams, high compression heads, and drag radials.

>>
>>14143254
CLK and C230/320 actually won't be that bad to keep going

The CLK shares all its drive train parts with the E430/ML430, and that motor/tranny combo is hella reliable. Your only major issues would be electrical bullshit, but so long as the car hasn't been ragged out too badly, you should be fine

With the C Class, those are Chrysler era cars, so the biggest issue is the interior falling to shit and that big ass panoramic sunroof getting jammed up. Again, the engine/tranny combo in those cars is reliable, and they don't even suffer from that many electrical gremlins

He said sports car or 'sporty' coupes. The CLK and C coupe both fit the 'sporty' category

They both run about 6.5 to 60, are fun to toss around corners, and have a very balanced setup.

pretty sure the awd ones are even more unreliable. every gsx ever is an unfinished project

>tfw my $2500 car is significantly faster than all these shitboxes you listed off
>>
>>14143583
Yea, plus any non riced is about 5k without mods
>>
>>14143364
Trolling aside, the CLK was built on a modified version of the previous gen C class chassis

When they were new, one of the huge positive was the chassis rigidity and athletic handling for a big luxury car. If anything they had a slight oversteer bias to allow them to rotate going into corners

The positive bullet points on these things when they were new was

-Sleek styling,
-solid chassis,
-composed ride
-athletic handling
-comfortable front seats

Thats everything you want in a sporty coupe
>>
>>14143589
>muh modded car is faster
My Ep3 is significantly faster than everything I listed that's not the point
>>
>>14143632
I respect you and your opinion however at the current price range there's faster more reliable coupes. I would never take a Mercedes to a track day, especially an older Mercedes.

I would never take either of those to a track day either desu. The C/CLK are sporty luxury. Comfy DD's that have stout engines and that can be fun in a corner. They'd be terrible track day cars.

Hell, for a track day fun, I drank the cool-aid and got an NA....
>>
>>14144021
I love the miata but without mods it's not fun getting passed by base model cars on the track
>>
>>14144031
Really, /o/ memes aside, I am perfectly fine with the power in the NA.

I did the exhaust/headers/intake on mine, pushed the timing forward to 18 degrees, and switched to premium gas, and it's more than peppy enough for any amount of fun you would ever want to have.

Top 3 best driving experiences in my life was taking the Miata up in the mountains near Boone here in NC and just craving the fuck out of some back roads for a couple hours

I test drove it, and even went so far as to get it looked over by an indy mechanic that I trust, but to quote James May, it just didn't give me the fizz

Please explain how. It clearly says "if you live in the US", so if you're going to say it's useless because you don't live in the US, you're an illiterate retard. If you do live in the US, you should have no trouble finding something on there that you like that's for sale for under 5 grand on craigslist, assuming you take the time to actually read the alternatives and explanations and not just look at the pretty pictures.
>>
>>14144730
It was pretty much built exactly to answer threads like this
>>

>>
>>14144757
Not so much as to drastically change anything that would be on that chart. Plus /o/ spent about a month last year overhauling and updating it

I am talking about nationwide. The "but I can't find that particular car close to me" has no merit for pickign what does on the chart. Either a car fits the criteria of being a decent sub-5K or it doesn't.

If you live in an area where a particular car is hard to find, either be willing to expand your search radius, or look for something else that's common to your area, which is why the chart has damn near 75 vehicles on it

>>14144929
this is the same pointless tail chasing you get any time you seriously bring up trying to make revisions. People bitch about not being able to find a particular car where they live, or bitch that the chart should have more or different cars, but never actually list what they think those cars should be

We had about 4300 brought to America, they're mostly collectors cars. Prices for a mint example are closer to $14-20k and slowly rising.

On that note NA/NB Miata and 1990s Civics/Integras. Maybe a beat E36 M3 or nice 328i E36. No idea why people are suggesting 3500+ lb automatic luxury cars
