Apparently the timing chain skipped, but the owners story doesnt add up. He says it cut out but he managed to restart it and drive it home before it seized.
Is that possible?

Fixing the engine is probably not economically viable, if it's possible at all.
Get a used engine and drop it in if you like the car.

The fact it's a flat 6 tells us it's a Subaru EZ engine, which uses a timing chain.

I can't fucking stand people who force their car to get their fat ass home even when there is severe and OBVIOUSLY major engine damage.

Thanks for the advice, I'll check if the timing skipped tomorrow and maybe take the cylinder heads off and check the valves. Looks like a new engine it is.

They do have belts, the H6 has a chain though.

So you know for sure it's seized or that the timing jumped? Seized means it ran lie on oil or coolant and the cylinder wall expanded around the piston freezing it in the cylinder.

Jumped timing would Cause the engine to run like shit and may cause valves to meet pistons.

Well I think it's seized because when I try to start it, it doesn't turn over. You can just here the starter motor going
