i have about 18k in the bank. this solves nothing

Do you want to get into as a business or profession? Good luck starting you're own shop and being successful. Local machine shops are dying art. If you want to work for one many technical schools have programs to place you with a manufacturer.

Buy a lathe or mill
Watch everthing by Mrpete222, abom79, fiatnutz etc
take a machining evening course at your local school/college/university

It's called investing, dumbshit. You take most of that money to a casino and invest it through games like Blackjack and Roulette. Eventually you double or triple your money and then you have more money to spend or invest. The best is to just keep investing it though, because eventually the odds will be stacked so highly in your favour that you'll win a huge jackpot. Then you can just build your own machine shop and play in it for fun.

Some people are so ignorant about money, it's no wonder the recession happened.

I've been in machining for three years, got into it with no previous industry/manufacturing experience or education in any relevant field. I was inna army reserves at the time with a security clearance and a fancy distinguished honor graduate diploma from my AIT course so I guess that was enough for HR to believe that I wasn't an idiot and that I could keep my mouth shut (that machined tons of stuff for aircraft and military stuff)

You know what's sick, bruh? The prototype shit being made by DARPA has to be machined by someone. You could be building BIG DOG or some other autonomous killing machine for protecting freedoms.

Do a good job wherever you are, and save up those good boy points. Get enough and you could land some sick machining job in an underground bunker making the next fuckin Metal Gear.

i said i have no space and i have most knowledge but i haven't used special tools like EDM before.

EDM is easy, it works best if you've taken some molly or ketamine first though. Basically just let the rhythm move your body, your mind will follow and it becomes really natural. Carry a pacifier too, you do NOT want to bite off your own tongue. And if some guy insists that you suck his "lollipop", just keep dancing man. It's not worth it.

oh you are one of THOSE people

>but i dont have space for a shop at home
make room.
>>
>>14123028
i think even a small shop would need about 800 sq feet wouldn't it? what can you do?
>>
>>14123052
either make your home a shop or rent shop space and make it your home.

Either way, get off /o/ faggot.
>>
>>14123052
Get a small lathe, and a small drill press probably need a 4x6m space maybe 4x8.

I got my first lathe into my bedroom it was smaller than my PC desk
>>
>>14123099
I got my first CNC machine into my bathroom
>>
>>14122866
make room, build a shed or garage, make the wife park outside so the mill and lathe can be in the garage, put your shop in a conex box, where theres a will theres a way
>>
>>14122866
lathes are pretty easy bro, actually so is all manual machining
>>
Where is a good place to get materials?
>>
>>14122991
buy a sherline lathe or mill. surely you have space on a table
>>
>>14123539
>"Make the wife part outside"
LOL! Can you even into relationship?
You really think the misses will be okay with some machine (which she probably has no idea what it does) replace her parking spot?
You're funny.
>>
>>14124687
Women don't give a shit about parking in the garage.
>>
I can use the spot weld machine thats about it
>>
>>14123623
steel? its pretty expensive right now. they sell it at my local rental place. shit sucks, its usually easier to buy scrap because new steel is really high for some reason.
>>
>>14124539
what are you doing? making a watch?
those things are really limited. i cant think of anything i would need such small capacity for.
automotive stuff is usually a lot bigger.
>>
mini and small lathes are great and big enough to do most things you would ever do with one for a car.

A mill isn't really worth it unless it's big enough to plane heads i m o.

Anything you would use a small mill for you can just do with a drill press, die cutter, band saw, and lathe.
If space and money is priority you can get MUCH more done with a lathe than you can a mill.
>>
>>14122991
>i have most knowledge
kek. And where did you get this knowledge of machining?
>>
does this take R8 collets?
http://peoria.craigslist.org/hvo/5316850176.html

this thing looks like a great machine
>>
>>14124800
i think kearney used their own collets, K&T20 or K&T30

call the guy and ask him
>>
>>14124850
oh that would be hard to find things like flycutters for then.
>>
>>14124854
flycutters fit in the collets, like an endmill, there are companys making collets for the old machines but theyre not cheap, and might have a long lead time
