Thing is there is a tint law in my state.

70% light must pass through both front windows, no law for the rear windows.

Will it sit outside during summer 24/7? If so that cheap tint might last the 3-4 years you'll own the car.

I paid like 550 installed for some 3m unobtanium tint with lifetime warranty. Because I plan to own the car forever, or until some Asian cunt runs into me again.

This is why I am in constant fear of spending any non-essential money on my vehicle. I've had it for 1.5 years now and I really want the windows tinted, but my last car was totaled after only 2 years of owning it. I was all set to spend a bit of money on it, including tint, and then some dumb bitch cut me off and destroyed it.

I had an 06 sti that I did a bunch of stuff to and just got new wheels and tires I was about to mount, then I was hit and totaled by a drunk. Which he blamed ME for running a red and fought me for 2 years on it.

My brz now has a dash cam, I decided a few months ago when a truck was crossing into my lane head on and I had to skirt the ditch to avoid him.

Dash cams are the way to go, I bought one back in March and it's been invaluable since. Caught a bunch of stupid shit, I really should upload some if it to the tubes.

I bought a Genius DVR-FHD590 for $150 (Canadian dollarydoos), plus $30 for a 32GB MicroSD card. Gives me about 6 hours of continuous recording. The footage just loops, so after 6 hours it just records over the oldest stuff automatically. Turns on automatically when I start my car, just plugs into the 12V outlet. Can set it to record with or without sound, I think it will record more than 6 hours if there's no audio.

An idea of the video quality, some are much better than others. This one records in 1080p IIRC, enough to make out license plates in most cases. If I see something fucked up or suspect though, I just read the license plate aloud and the audio picks it up too.

What windows? You can usually only legally tint the rear windows without restriction. The front side windows will only be allowed a slight tint, if at all, and the windshield can have none.

Few cars come with stock front tint (UV protection?). Some french cars have this bluish purple tint on the windshield.

UV tint is allowed anywhere since it doesn't affect the visible spectrum. That bluish tint is a polarizing filter.
