It's the modern version of a horse.
if your car is fwd it will never not be an appliance tier A-B commuter for non enthusiasts

>having an emotion
>>14119678 he gets it
you can get an emotional attachment to a horse.
When you work on or modify something for years and rely on it every day you grow a bond. I feel the same way about my house. It's not just a box I love in. It's a good friend.

Just find a junker with a good body and plop them on that chassis or drop the mechanicalss in the junker. If you're super attached a new bedside. Door and cab corner stitched on will have it back with the same vin. I've seen much worse be repaired at my dad's shop.

>>14119723
How many of us have done this? My mother bought a 1995 Geo Tracker brand new when I was four. It was the cheapest, new four wheel drive vehicle she could get at the time. I grew up in the back of that boxy, gutless piece of shit. It served us well. Got us through all kinds of weather and road conditions, and growing up in tornado alley, that's saying something! She gave it to me in high school, and I ruined it in college. I needed to replace the radiator, and never seemed to have the money. I kept topping it off with tap water. It died on Interstate 5 passing through San Juan Capistrano. I cried, /o/. I cried like we put down the family dog. Fifteen years of road trips and hard use, and my college ass couldn't manage even a cheap, aftermarket radiator to keep it going.
After that car, I check the heat gauge as often as I check the gas gauge no matter what I'm driving in.

You're going to have a sentimental attachment to anything you put work into. The only people who aren't emotionally attached to their vehicles are people who have never been inside the engine bay. This is why rich people all have meaningless love lives, nothing means anything to them because it didn't take any effort.

>>14119844
Why didn't you take the buyback option and use the money to fix it? A level 2 inspection to get it re titled is easy. You let grandpa down twice man.
Dad's old work truck. tracked it down and bought it from the same family he sold it to 20 years ago.

I guess I'm going to have to track it down to some lots around Phoenix next time I'm up there.
>>14119883
I'm pretty sure the only way to proper rally is with a awd. You get stuck in a ditch with a fwd your race is over.

Keeping the Car
If most of the damage is cosmetic, the car would probably be repairable and just as safe to drive as before the accident. In such a case, keeping it would be an option to consider.
To keep it, the insurance company must first be convinced. Once an agreement is struck, you won't receive a check for the car's entire value. From the payout, the insurance company will subtract the deductible, along with deducting the estimated amount it would have received from a salvage yard. It may also deduct some other costs or fees. You can then use whatever is left to make the needed repairs.
Sorry to say but yours was sold at a salvage auction. Its either being picked clean at a junkyard or was crushed for scrap.
>>14119734
Is that why you have no friends?

AWD is heavy. It will have just slightly shoddy numbers to make up for the fact that you might find yourself in a ditch. Instead, git good and learn how to drive, then you won't have to waste time getting out of ditches.

A car is none of the above.
