What is a good american muscle car that i can buy from a junkyard and make it start then ship it to europe and drive cross europe and make it?

Gonna renovate or engine swap it later
>>
Op here preferably 60's-70's
>>
>>14116878
who would let that happen to a super bird?
>>
>>14116878
If you're buying from a junkyard you're gonna need parts support. Would not recommend travelling Europe withoit extensive repair /prep.
>>
you're not going to find any driveable muscle in a boneyard. all the shows are fake.
>>
>>14116885
Yeah ofc It's gonna break down but i mean as log as it doesn't seize
>>

Torino. Maverick used to be cheap but it got discovered so just plan on Torino.

80s looking muscle is still cheap so I went with that instead.

Closest thing you'll find to your idea is a 68-69 Fairlane/Torino coupe. It won't be from a junkyard (or at least a professional one) but they can be found relatively easily for under $5K

There was a time they all looked like that because they were worthless. Hell there used to be two sitting right next to each other in Aransas Pass Tx for almost twenty years. They weren't hidden either, they were right on the main road into town. Local car guys talked about them of course but nobody else gave a damn.
>>
>>14116967
Then you're pretty much SOL on this idea

Not gonna happen. It's an old american car using old british imperial units in it's design. there are no parts in europe and it won't make it from one city or another without several things breaking.

Driving across Europe is called the "Grand Tour". There is a specific class of automobiles designed for this, "Grand Tourers", or "GTs"

Get a GT car if you want to drive across Europe, not some rusty shitbox, but you'll never find a muscle car in a junk yard anyways.

However, late model C3 corvettes can be had for cheap, but the Corvette isn't a muscle car.

>>
>>14116967
Then look for a Nova, Duster, Dart, Fury, Vega, or something. You can still get lucky and find some running for $5-6k.
>>
>>14116982
Plan is to travel by plane to Nevada or California fix the car ship it to france or england and drive it to Scandinavia i don't want a shit euro car

Go fuck yourself faggot. If you can travel across the US to fix up a shitbox and then take it back the Faggotland AKA Europe you would probably have a lot more to work with than 5K

A variety of reasons that have changed since.

Cars in general were much more disposable than they are now. Three years was considered old and unreliable and something five years old was an ancient heap. You practically had to give something 10 years old away. So by 1980 or so their age and two gas crises meant muscle era cars were pretty much only fit for teenagers to drive. Which itself is another sea change in the national consciousness. Anyway even by 1987-88 or so it still wasn't obvious where the muscle car market was going so barring the truly rare stuff like COPO Camaros you could still get muscle cars for a couple grand. Yeah they were rough.

As for the Super Bird itself, they were a tough sell even when new and everybody thought they were just too outrageous. And they were Mopars in a era dominated by GM products

why would you bother with buying some shitty car, getting it to the ship, customs in your country, taxes, safety inspection and all that when you can just buy something that's already in Europe? There's absolutely no point.

I'm guessing you'd have a budget of 7k€ or so.

There's plenty of more stuff if you'd be willing to buy a Ford.

Btw I know they are not muscle cars like Camaros or Mustangs but for that kind of money you won't get a decent one anyway.
>>
>>14117298
Camaros and Mustangs aren't muscle cars either.

I'm not going to shit up the thread with this discussion. The point is, OP should check the used car websites in his country and buy a decent American car and he won't find a muscle car in good condition for around 7k.

Eh, yeah I suppose.

In my circle of friends in HS we mostly had Mustangs and a couple of GM intermediates like Cutlasses, etc, and one Mopar idio...err friend that usually rocked Dusters when they ran. It wasn't until my late 20's that I first sat in a Road Runner and I do remember thinking "this thing's fuckin' huge in here" as I looked over my right shoulder at somebody in the back seat and they were waaaay over there
>>
>>14117411
i remember the belvedere being big too
but come on look low long it is.
>>
>>14117014
They were worthless new, dealers had to remove the wing and nose to sell them, some dealers had them sitting unsold for a few years too. Guy in my neighborhood had a green one sitiing in his drive, even during winter.

you can find a pretty decent early 70's monte carlo for 5-8k pretty much anywhere in the US. and base model coronet 500 and satellites are about the same range
>>
>>14117446

Similar year Chevelle would be the same price.
>>
>>14117474
i wouldnt consider those as much of a "muscle car" and the nova's of the time, which arent very good themselves anyway i suppose
>>

You ain't driving that anywhere but around the block lol

Cheesy-ass cooling fan is cheesy. That thing'll overheat in any traffic over about 75F
>>
>>14117544
well its a camaro and has a locker. of course its trashy. that tranny really does look like it makes it less fun though
>>
>>14117508
basically the '60's-'70s era Subaru WRX. They're all thrashed.
>>
>>14117555

I'm sure the thing is a riot at low speeds. It's just not a road car geared that short.
>>
>>14117570
lies
heres a mint one
http://peoria.craigslist.org/cto/5309074980.html

if it wasnt an automatic i would get it and daily it
>>
>>14117555
>>14117573
well the nova has a turbo 350 and 4.10s but it has 56 more cubes than that camaro. its a riot to race and cruise. the only bad thing is it turns over 2500 rpm at 55 mph. i want to put a GV under/overdrive on it for taking it to shows farther away and not bleeding my wallet dry as quickly
>>
>>14117570
Weren't the slan-6 ones nigh unkillable, like almost ridiculously robust cars, aside for rust and rotting tubing that comes with age. The American Volvo.
>>
>>14117586
why not just throw in a 700r4?
>>

thats exactly true

that is also on the table
