I don't get that either. Is there really no market for what is essentially a working man's car that can go fast
>>14104271
Nobody in the US would pay the over $50,000 they would cost here.
>>14104226
Lil bit faster though and still australian
>>14104329
Probably not faster than half the cars in this thread, but yeah whatevs
>>14104329
Most of the cars in this thread are a good 2 seconds faster to 100km/h than the car you posted.
You are thinking of this car.
This is off topic not being about holden, but obviously there's ausies going to be in this thread. How are falcon xr8? There's one for sale local to me in the uk and I fancy something different. Car in question.
HSV is their performance division, right?
>>14107482
Correct
>>14107464
Yeah theyre still pretty good
The new one has a few more KWs than the holden v8
>>14107582
It's 2003, 360hp apparently. Getting bored of the same euro box shite. Won't see any other xr8s that's for sure.
Fuck commodores and falcons are shit.

Was the 2004 GTO a HSV model? Thought it was just a base Monaro
>>14107464
>How are falcon xr8?
Of that generation (BA), you'll want to stick to a Mk II or later version. The first revision had a lot of issues with gearboxes, diffs, and suspension falling apart. The engines are strong but the car will fall away from around it. BF's and FG's are much improved in that regard.
Of course, in the UK you'll never find another car like it unless you specifically import one, so you may as well just buy it for that unicorn factor.

I really don't like the new Commodore. Looks like a Camry, bad design to end it all on.
>>14107661
I like the idea of owning something a bit unique, only problem there though is if the box or diff etc bite the dust how easy can I get parts? Probably easily enough but at a price due to importing them. Cheers for the advice tho.
Posting in honor of AussieMuscle, RIP

This describes every Australian car every made. "Engines are strong but everything else falls away around it"

Yes and no, the HSV GTO Coupe is better than the American GTO is every single way, the Monaro came out in 2001, the First GTO was in 2004, the best GTO was in 2005.
It's don't.

You will need to import them from Australia
Shouldn't be too hard to get as there are always cars in various states of salvage here being parted out, but shipping a gearbox to the UK is gonna cost you a pretty penny. Also keep in mind that Ford and Holden are ending production of their vehicles in Aus soon, so there'll be limited stock of parts when they close shop.

You have to make sure it's not the 4 speed auto or 5 speed manual. The XR8s with those are the early cars, and you should stay away from them.

Regardless, the Commodore really has no right to call itself a sports car. The Falcadores just got too fat for their own good.
The Bathurst 12 hour shows again and again how inferior the local products are compared to imported competition.

What the fuck am i reading?
>>14107464
>>14107661
BA & BF falcon parts are majorly interchangeable, but as long as you don't drive it like a fuckwit, you shouldn't have a problem with breaking shit.

>The Bathurst 12 hour shows again and again how inferior the local products are compared to imported competition
v8s were putting down faster lap times at bathurst, and they dont race in the 12 hours. so okay then

You can't be stupid enough to consider the NASCAR-lite category of V8 Supercars to be legitimate touring cars, can you?
Those are purpose built race cars with a control chassis, there is not a single part on a modern V8 Supercar that is interchangable with their road going equivalent.
>>14110190
You truly have no idea lad. HSV's have upgraded just about everything, to the point where there's not much in the way of mechanical components that are the same as the regular Commodores.
Bigger engines, Brembo big brake kits, better suspension, better diff, better gearbox, etc...
>>14110190
Wrong faggot.
Hsv gets commodores off the production line at a stage where its pretty much just the chassis, floor pan and a few minor parts. Then they go into the hsv production line where hsv fully adjustable suspension, brembo brakes, swaybars, strut braces, etc are all added, then of course they put the LSA motor in. The gearbox. Then hsv specific bumpers, tail and head lights, spoiler, bonnet, front grill, badges, door handles, mirrors, wheels and tyres. Then hsv specific front seats and upholstery, dash, headunit, tacho etc.
Holdens for earsex. Fords for speed.
Out of the factory, at least. If you modify either of them then anything is possible (XR6 turbo's arguably best bang for buck).
I'll stick with j-spec though.
>>14110419
Pretty sure the grills would still fit.
