Hey /o/ hondafag here, I got to drive a turbo ss the other day and now I'm looking into getting one, I was looking at a 08 350z but the ss is a bit more fun to drive and really easy to build power, I've read guys making 400whp on stock internals. However I can't shake that it's a Chevy. My Ep3 is ridiculously reliable and something tells me that a high strung turbo 4 banger won't be.

Any body here own one of these? I only care about the ss tc and not the supercharged version.

Why not leave it stock and build up a nice cheap honda to 400HP?

The SS TC was a very fast track monster and i'm kind of a fan myself as far as 400whp on stock internals that sounds a bit optimistic.

Not an owner so there's not much i can say about reliability other than don't expect it to take as much abuse as your honda :^(

I have big respect for these cars. They're very lightweight and can be highway kings. Only three 4-cylinder cars have taken my GTO on the highway, and they were all SS Cobalts.

A friend in my group has the highest power Cobalt on stock displacement in the world currently, 650whp. If you push, they will break, but 400whp is a reasonably safe number, and more than enough for a car that light.

While I cannot speak for the ss I will say that I once received a hand me down 07 cobalt ls and I ended up supercharging the l61 on stock internals. Little puppy was putting down 220 to the wheels. Still see it ricing down my streets til this day.

All I'll say for you is that the drive train is stout the rest of the car is really just shit. So it all depends on what ya want!

I worked on chevy for 5 yrs as a chevy tech. The 2.0 ecotec is a good engine. Chevy didn't put shit part in those engines. The interior is shit compared to other cars in its class. It has a good trans in it with a clever diff so torque steer isn't horrible. Overall it's a good car. But remember the suspension components are the same for the most part as a regular cobalt. So if you beat it allot you're going to be replacing shit allot

With some bolts ons a tune and a boost controller they're fucking fast on the strip and on the track but the interior is garbage and the fact it's a cobalt, which gets more flak than a built civic. If you're gonna buy one get ready to hear all the bullshit that comes with it. They're faster than the srt-4s and 08 wrxs, don't quote me on it but they're pretty much tied for '10 wrxs too.

My buddy has his done up and IMO black is the least faggy colour for them because it almost disguises that it's a cobalt lol.

If you can find an 07-08 350z for the same price I would honestly just get that, it won't be easier than the balt to make power but it's a more respectable car overall.

Yeah, salvage title/blown up/200k+ miles. Prices are closer to $8-11k

E46 M3s are $14-20k and won't depreciate as hard. There's also the nice thing about not driving a high powered FWD Cobalt that's nice too.

Without launch control you can launch a tc cobalt at 5.1 to 60. And it comes with a built in ecu boost controller,, so you can make 300 plus on a factory tune all while getting 30mpg
