I weighed 400 the day I graduated high school because of shitty parents and my laziness combined. A year later, I'm down to 302. I still have a long way to go, but it's not hard. I'm cooking my own foods, making small portions, and working out for 2 hours a day (1 hour of regular workouts, 1 hour of pool workout so I don't totally fuck up my joints).

/fit/ along with basic research really helped me. The first 6 weeks were hard as fuck because my body was used to being a lazy fatass for 5 years, but after that it was smooth sailing.

Tell your wife to lose weight, and encourage her to do so as well. That way you don't have to buy an extended cab F-150 or an old landbarge with bench seats just to fit your wife.
