How usable are soft tops in the winter?
>>
well, its a top.. so i guess it works

I did it for 2 winters. It's really not that bad as long as a the heat works. In most cars you drive for a bit with the heat on blast, then turn it down. With a soft top you just leave it on blast the whole time.
>>
Heat retaining properties are compromised. You will get it warm-ish with the heater eventually, but it will be colder in the beginning and you will need more heating to accomplish it than in other cars.

Longer periods of outside parking are advised with car cover. Bonus points for garage parking at home.

Don't fold down roof unless dry to prevent formation of mold. Don't fold down roofs with plastic rear windows if it's very cold or the plastic may shatter.

Apply adequate care products before and after winter depending on material.

Mine is doing me well, for heat insulation not so well.
Going to consider getting a hard top

the snow crystals reacts with the canvas atoms in the top and they disintegrate

The good thing is that there's not much space to heat. So it will get very warm.

I suggest before winter you buy an emergency heat blanket like pic related and fasten it to the inside of your roof. This will keep the heat in better than just a bare convertible top.

That'd look pretty ugly, but keeping one in your glovebox might be a good idea just in case you break down on the side of the road.

Lol fuck off it's excellent. Get some double sided Velcro tape and adhere it to the soft top. Works like a charm and if you cut pieces properly to fit it looks factory. Put some cloth over it if you want but it does work u shit
>>
>>14102040
>velcro'd aluminum foil shit looks factory on any soft top

Seriously?

Get the car warm. Turn on the heater. Heat until comfy.

Soft top or hard top makes no difference. If you think the transfer of heat from your soft top is more than the heat supplied from your heater core, you need to replace your blower fans max setting of 1, or replace your leaky ass top.
>>
In addition to being cold as fuck and making the top heinously brittle, most convertibles usually have enough moisture in them to frost on the INSIDE of the windows.
>>

>brittle
>implying you would let the top down in freezing temps

Can this be a convertible owners only thread?

Also; >frost the inside

Have you not sealed your soft top?

Oh wait, you either

1. Don't have one

-or-

2. Don't know what you are doing.
