I don't see the problem. The original Dart was a compact economy car just like the new one.
>b-but muh special snowflake muscle version
except most of them were slant 6's that took grandma to church and dad to the grocery store.
>>
>>14097204
Nothing. You do realize the original Dart was a shitbox too, right?
>>
why do you retards keep posting the same thread

we get it, you don't like modern cars because they're heavy and safe and reliable

you don't need to fish for karma here, this is 4chan, not the godforsaken site you came from

A picture of 2 shitboxes. Bottom one is totally styling and the top one is rear drvie for my mrrica burnouts.

Pick your poison I guess. The old dart is kind of a plain looking ride compared to other options of the time.
>>
>>14097594
The new Dart looks good for a new car but cars in general looked so much better from the 50's-80's
>>
>wtf happened to cars /o/?

They got more comfortable, more fuel efficient, more safe, more performance, more technology, and more value.

They are, in many respects, better than old cars.

>but anon, modern cars look like shit compared to a 1980s cars

Looks are subjective. Besides, its never been the job of a standard economy car to look good. People weren't salivating in the 80s over Chevrolet Cavaliers, they were enviously eyeing all the sports cars and hatches from the 80s that are still loved today.

>but anon, visibility is really poor in modern cars. the windows are barely there anymore!

which is why the people that build cars have been spending years adding driving aids to minimize the risk of an accident.

>but anon, the driving experience of a modern car is horrible

Well, what is it you're driving? Is it a performance model, or some commuter's car? Obviously, the performance-tuned car is going to have a better driving experience, your commuter's car is only built to get you from Point A to Point B with some degree of comfort and safety.

>but anon, I just prefer older cars

Good for you. There's a very vibrant used car market that has almost every car you can think of, and many you can't. I'm sure you'll find your favorites on there, for a far lower price than a brand new vehicle, and you can do whatever you want with it: work on it, haul groceries, have some fun, rip skids with some br/o/s or ladyfriends, jam out to eurobeat, go for a drive, most of anything.

And before Oldsmobile was killed, they were planning to unleash an Intrigue 442 as a performance variant of the Intrigue. Engine would've been a 4.6L Northstar V8 in the FWD Intrigue, and 4T80e automatic only.

People in 1974 considered the Dart a disposable econobox, people in 2015 consider the Dart a disposable econobox. The only thing that's changed is young people romanticising buckets from before they were born because they only know the 60s and 70s through movies.

>>14097204
the 2015 Dart is faster, more economical, safer, quieter, has more features, needs less maintenance, and costs less if you adjust prices for inflation. It has better lights, better tires, better handling, better brakes, better acceleration.....

They don't build them like they used to, and that's a good thing.
>>
>>14099296
The new Dart is grossly overweight and underpowered. I like it's styling though.
>>
>>14099300
>grossly overweight

>>14099306
I agree, but the new one is not competitive enough, many other car manufacturers offer better compact sedans.

The demographics evolved and more SJWs demanded the government to regulate the safety and emissions of vehicles because of deaths from car crash and LA smog. Personally, I think they should have called the new Dart the Neon, but I see why they didn't though it is the successor. The new Charger, as mentioned above, should have been called the Coronet or Monoco as it is a "full size" 4 door car. The challenger should have been slightly smaller as an E body was slightly smaller than the B body.

Overall, I like the new Dart for what it is, a commuter. If they put out an SRT version with AWD, ill be one of the first in line. However, given the choice, id rather spend 30k on a fully done up 1960s-1973 Dart with a V8. Yes it is inferior in every way except for power, but the new dart has little presence in today's day and age of compact bubble cars. Pic related, my dream Dart.
>>
>>14099300
It handles the weight well in corners, but the turbos have weird powerbands and the 2.4 is just barely more powerful.

At least with my 1.4, you have to drive it like a racecar basically all the time to stay in the powerband and not fall behind in traffic or bog the engine unnecessarily.

The cruise control is completely useless except for a little trick I can do to revmatch into 5th or 4th by letting the CC blip the throttle for me.
>>
>>14099342
That's my biggest complaint with the dart, it needs to shed some pounds or gain some power. 220 would do it well and could be done with the new 2.0 Hurricane. Hopefully, if allpar is correct, the next SRT will most certainly be more powerful than the engine in the caliber which was close to 290 as it sat. Add in Multiair, new cam designs, and a more efficient turbo and you are fairly close to 330hp est.
>>
>>14097227
Bullshit.

You can build a classic-style car with modern safety regulations with all the crush-zones, airbags, and shit of a modern car.

>>14097237
This is correct. Millions are shallow and want everything as new as possible. There are actually people out there that would take a new Ferrari over a 250 GTO just because they have to have new.
>>
>>14099342
>sure it's fat, but if you keep the cappuccino maker under the hood above 5,000 RPMs it is kinda fun

Other cars had this problem, like the 2nd gen Isuzu Impulse, but at least they were sporty and lightweight.
>>
>>14098948
>this
>>
>>14099562
Really? Can you?

Considering the givernment just made it so that small scale manufacturers, such as replica producers, are exempt from safety regulations, I don't think it was that possible before.
