That's what you're supposed to do, if you weren't, the light would turn red for the turn lane.
It's also not about being impatient, you're fucking up the flow of traffic all around. When you cause a huge line of traffic in the turn lane, people going the opposite direction can't turn left until your light goes green again, which will back up traffic on that side, which will then prevent YOU from turning left when you get the green.

Here in the real world, traffic backs up really quickly. It's not blowing through a red light, normally when the flow of straight traffic going the opposite direction clears, if everyone going left has any idea how traffic works, about 10 cars can then turn before the light turns red. Sometimes that doesn't work like it's suppose to, so the person in the intersection has to wait until the other side stops, then get out of the way before cross traffic starts moving.
Take a driving course sometime, you obviously need it.

You are supposed to enter the intersection when the light is green and you are the first one in queue in the left turn lane.
If there is no gap in traffic for you to safely turn left, you have to wait until the oncoming traffic comes to a complete stop at the signal at which point you are legally obligated and allowed to clear the intersection before adjacent traffic proceeds. This is typically accomplished before adjacent traffic gets a green signal due to the timing of light signals in most intersections in North America.
I don't know what you feel you are accomplishing by waiting multiple light cycles to complete your left turn and unnecessarily holding up fellow commuters but consider yourselves educated.

I just call the cops if you're close enough I can't see your headlights in my side mirrors, 2BH, but my commute takes me right past the station, so it might not work so great for other people.
I called the cops on 9 people in November, but that's a lot more than usual.
I started doing this when a tailgater called the cops on me for "erratic driving" eg. slowing down in a passing zone, trying to get him to go past me. The ladycop who pulled me over told me to call them, so now I do.
I always tell them to ticket the offender when the dispatcher asks me if I want them to get a warning or a ticket.

There are always people that go lower or higher than the speed of traffic.. But generally, if conditions allow, the speed of traffic is higher than the speed limit. That was my point. Thus going slower than the speed of traffic in the outside lane is a violation.
We were once pulled up on by a cop patrolling the 416 for going too slowly in our truck hauling a camper. He signalled to us to speed up.
We were in the middle lane doing 112 on cruise control (basically because the driver didn't want to have to deal with people merging from on/off ramps). Little truck couldn't really handle that, so we moved into the slowest lane. Cop seemed pleased enough.
