usually its best to stick with a name brand like wix or puralator.
fram a shit, but i only buy k&n because of the nut.
i would still use them if they were bad
>>
>>14069984
Friend swears by them but I found a shaving from the threads inside an orange can when I was in high school. Never touched a fram product since.
>>
>>14069984
Yes, they're trash
>>
Don't listen to the memes. Fram is the most advanced and best engineered engine oil filter on the market today in most of the USA.

my oil filter for my ka24e is in a tough spot that i can't visually see or get a wrench into easily and i like the ez-grip to hand tighten it, saves me the trouble of having to plasti-dip it. it's not the best filter, but it's not the worst.

Dodge released a service bulletin warning against FRAM oil filters because they determined one of them detonated and blocked all the oil ports and seized a pretty much new Cummins diesel.

Then they later said FRAM made some changes. Pretty rare for a corporation to acknowledge their product is harmful.
>>
>>14070937
that report is from 2000 and it didn't single out fram.
wix was also mentioned and wix is loved here.

No, I read the official dodge bulletin..
Did you expect me to take your word for it?

Doesn't change the fact that you'd have to be one of the unluckiest people alive to have a Fram filter ruin your engine.

Makes no difference to me, Fram is overpriced. I buy sub $10 filters.

Stick with Wix or Puralator. Mann if you have a European car.

Oil is the bullshit thing to watch out for. There is only 3 refineries that make all the car oil in the USA. All these oil brands are literally buying from these 3 refineries, sticking their label on it and reselling it to you. Yes, that also applies to your previous Royal Purple, Amsoil and other "top tier" brands.

>>
>>14076405
Even with strict design, chinese products always have a ton more problems than those made in countries where there is safety regs, workers unions/rights and humane treatement. There is a reason Nissan switched over the oil filter manufacture from china to mexico, they were having too many gasket failures and other problems

China dosent give 2 fucks about making a quality product they just mass produce to make an extra penny everywhere they dont care about quality, materials, tolerances etc
>>
>>14076439
>Even with strict design, chinese products always have a ton more problems
Only if you're really expecting the Chinese to police their own quality. Don't think for a second that a company in a developed nation won't chew out their contractors if they aren't delivering products that are up to snuff. I've seen it with my own eyes.
>>
Pardon my ignorance, but aren't all filters good as long as they are OEM rated?

lol ok, let's take Gerber USA who used to make their knives in the US, or SOG who also made them in the US. They both moved manufacture to China/Taiwan. Months after this happens and these knives keep being bought they see a huge quantity of knives coming in for defects and damage thats not supposed to happen

>blades that bend under little stress
>blades chipping/snapping
>locking mechanisms failing, disengaging while being used
>handle materials wearing out faster than usual

Lets take another example

Dakota jeans and workpants in Canada, used to make them 100% in Canada, recently moved to Bangladesh

>start tearing at seams in work conditions
>fraying fabric
>buttons/rivets popping off

Or how about the millions of toys that get recalled yearly for containing Lead and other potentially harmful chemicals

All this shit didnt happen before it was outsourced to cheap labour countries. You get what you pay for, you might end up with a cheaper product but it will never compare to a product made in the US/Canada, Japan, Europe etc. Why the fuck do you think car manufacturers haven't started making cars in china? Because there would be so many defects and safety risks/ catastrophic failures that it would litterally bankrupt them. Look at cars made in mexico nowadays, the quality is far below that of Germany, Japan, US/Canada.

China produces the shittiest products on earth. Prove me wrong.

Jesus, how hard is this for people to understand? You can't see or feel if your filter has failed from the outside. Your car won't drive any differently. Not at first, anyways. If you keep using garbage filters though, your engine will fail sooner. Much sooner, depending on the fill interval.

The 2.2 OHV in my cav leaks around the filter because the last 15 people that beat on this car took it to th emost hamhanded jiffy lube retards

The filter threads are kinda janky so it leaks right onto the exhaust if i don't tighten it twice (once after its heated up with my kevlar sleeve on to not singe my forearm reaching behind the motor)

Probably needs a new oil pan or just a big self tapper because at some point someone crossthreaded the living fuck out of it but the plug doesn't leak even if it doesn't feel too good going in and out.
>>
>>14079074
