How can I make my car handle high revs for longer? Not to rev harder or increase power or anything, just want my DD to be reliable if I rev it hard through some S-Bends, without damaging the engine

make sure the oiling and cooling system is in good condition

depends on the car and the engine.

More info please.

1.5 litre 4 cylinder, I'll find the engine model if you need it?

Will upgrading help? Or is just keeping the stock setup in good condition enough? It doesn't normally get thrashed or anything, just if I happen to find a good set of turns at night

It's a 4G15

Imbalance of the engines rotating assembly increases exponentially as rpm increases. Valve train also becomes more unstable.

To fix this you need to build and balance the internals to as high a tolerance as you can for a given RPM goal. You also need to increase valve spring pressure to reduce valve float for your given RPM goal.

Intake routing becomes more important too, but that's a little more of an advanced topic.

My car doesn't come with a tacho standard so I'm waiting to buy one, I'm assuming the highest it hits is 5k? What sort of "balancing" do you mean? Stronger valves/springs etc. and pistons?

The 4G15 I think redlined at 6 or 7 grand.

Anyways, the best thing for it is to pull the head off and upgrade valvetrain components. valve springs, valves and camshafts should be on your shopping list. The head has to come off for 2 of those 3 big items to be swapped out.

Sorry, I meant as in what I rev it to, didn't mean redline, should've written that better
Thanks for the knowledge, any specific brands you could recommend?
I already considered valves/valve springs but weren't sure if it mattered if I don't limiter bash, which I haven't yet and don't plan on, is this an important upgrade even if I don't red line?

Ferrea and Comp Cams are big names worth trusting.

Thanks a ton

Some cars need a baffled sump so that oil starvation is mitigated.

Check that yours has one. If not, get one.

Thanks!

Tune the injectors to be more rich. You'll lose em pee gees but it's better than going lean.
