Basically agree. CLK63 Black is probably my favorite though, although that's not currently in production so C63 Black would be my next.

There was a SL65 Black Series too, which was pretty sick for burnouts but basically nothing else.
>>
>>14051111
The only modern muscle cars are the charger and challenger. So the challenger. The camaro and mustang are pony cars, and then there's nothing else.

On what goddamn planet is an AMG a muscle car?

>hurr it makes a lot of power
So does a ferrari or a Ford GT, neither of those are muscle cars and nor is any merc.

5th gens are GOAT

Mustangs are fine, but that pushrod sound speaks to me. Challengers are dogshit in reliability, beautiful to look at though.
>>
>>14051183
Have you driven them? They are basically German cars that mimic American muscle cars. Front engine, huge power, and it is just the feeling and sound of it all.

I've never driven a Ford GT but the engine is in the wrong place, of the Ferraris I've driven (360, 430,458), they are completely different from muscle cars in feel. They are much more precise and well behaved.

>>
>>14051268

Why only 3?

>>14051267

Luxuries is what makes it not a muscle car

CTS-V's are fast and comfy. They're not muscle cars.
>>
>>14051286
the only thing more luxurious than a GSX made by GM was a Cadillac

is it not a muscle car?
>>
>>14051272
Meh, you are entitled to your opinion. But, as far as driving like a muscle car, AMG is very much there. Cost is not the only metric. Also the Black Series is more like 100k, regular C63 is closer to 60.

>>14051286
>Why only 3?
I had some other sporty cars I was enjoying, and end of the day it was still a C class. I had the rear seat delete, so really it became a true two seater which made it less useful for me to drive. It also rode really rough, which in hindsight I should have known because all the Black Series run like that. I wanted to put miles on it and the tires would only be good for a stupid low amount of milage. If I took it to the track the tires likely would have only lasted a day, they were just really really soft... so, multiple reasons.

It didn't quite fit in as a good track car, didn't really fit in as a good sporty car to drive to work, and felt like a lot of money to have in a C class.

It's a fun car, but, just didn't fit in my garage at the time. After 3 months I had enjoyed it and since they were so hot (I got mine right away) I was able to sell it for sticker, essentially driving the car for free.
>>
>>14051334
Cost is quite literally part of the definition of a muscle car.
>>
>>14051177
This. By definition, the AMGs cannot be a muscle car because muscle cars have always been the middle class express. That means a new one has to be under 65k (average lower middle class income) and be faster than cars costing twice as much, even if only in a straight line.
>>
>>14051308
LOL. Do you not know about the Lesabre? The Riviera? The GSX is a muscle car because every fancy item was an option dumbass. You could get a same year charger with lux goodies too but the goodies aren't the point. Same as you can have 2 full size Chryslers lets say a Sport Fury and a New Yorker. The New yorker may be the same mechanically and have the same suspension but it was a luxury car. The Plymouth had a fairly lengthy options list for the time. The New Yorker had most options standard.
>>
>>14051197
The thing that made a muscle car a muscle car was the fact that it was just raw balls out mechanics. It was just motor > trans > drive shaft > rear end > tires and that's it, no ABS, no EFI, nothing.

If consider it more modern muscle, but I wouldn't consider it muscle by any means.

>The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines muscle cars as "any of a group of American-made 2-door sports coupes with powerful engines designed for high-performance driving."[2] A large V8 engine is fitted in a 2-door, rear wheel drive, family-style mid-size or full-size car designed for four or more passengers. Sold at an affordable price, muscle cars are intended for street use and occasional drag racing.

Of course there are exceptions like the buick t type and those 4-door impala SSs.

But that definition also leaves out muscle cars from other countries, such as Australia and South Africa.

Also, I may be wrong, but when they were initially making muscle cars in the mid-60s like the Pontiac GTO, they were considered upscale performance versions of cars like the Catalina, which were already top of the line models. So Muscle Cars were sort of getting their start from luxury models, and all the highly sought-after muscle cars, such as the Shelby Mustang and the Camaro Z/28, were far from being affordable.

What many car critics list as today's true muscle cars, such as the GT350, ZL1 and 392 SRT, are in the $50,000 range, luxury car territory, and as some have pointed out, close to the range the C63 AMG starts at.

That the original Muscle Car formula when the term was coined, however the muscle car has long since evolved from the '60s/early '70s ideology.
