Question: when I installed my exhaust the first o2 sensor (and from what I understand is the most important one) installed just fine and doesn't throw any code or anything like that. I've run into the common problem that I can't run the 2nd o2 sensor into the bung on the exhaust downpipe without an extension. I also imagine if I get that extension I'll probably need a defouler since the cat is delete. So for the sake of cheapness and easiness I just plugged the o2 sensor in and tucked it away.
The CEL went away and it runs fine. Occasionally it'll pop back on, but that happens only like once a week so I just reset the CEL and go. Is there any thing that doing this could potentially cause issue.
Also,i read that having the second o2 sensor isn't really necessary and it just is there to kind of check that a cat is there. It doesn't mess with any a/f mixture stuff. But, when the CEL is on and it reads 2nd Bay o2 sensor I notice worse gas mileage.

This was even weight with tools, tires and all that too. I've seen third gen get sub-ton, but that's shaving off lots of weight.
The lightest is the stripped Prelude S 2WS and the heaviest is the Si 4WS, the INX 4WS and the SiStates was the heaviest, plus it was longer and wider.

You know the answer. An MX-6 would be more competitive to the third gen though. No to the MX-3.
>>14039318
Tons.
Senpai, I need some suspension help.
First:
Anyone have experience with BC Racing coilovers and RS-R? I'm looking at both right now. The BC Racing used to be around 1300 but are now 995, which is a really attractive price. I haven't seen much on them, but what I did see seemed to be positive. Couldn't find much on the RS-R coilovers. They run around 1600.
Second:
I'm looking to get the suspension more neutral. Currently set up to understeer like most vehicles. Front springs are 3.5 kg/mm 3.0 kg/mm rear. The weight distribution is 59/41 for the vehicle. What should I be looking for as far as spring rates? I've heard to that FF should have stiffer back springs. I've also seen others do the same rates as front and back. Is something around 5 kg/mm going to be uncomfortable for DD?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It begins soon. May or may not replace the clutch. I have zero clutch problems so may just change the bearing and save the clutch for a later day.
>>14039447
Ayy did you go to the meet? I wanted to go but I'll have to try for next month.
>suspension worth more than what I paid for my car
I need to start saving up for mine. I need it.
>>14039447
5 kg/mm would probably make the rear far to stiff to DD comfortably. Honda's double wishbone with FF is best to have a more stiff rear suspension, one of the best things I invested in for the Prelude was a 20mm ASR in the rear, but I never got around to springs.
However, if you go more stiff on the springs in the rear, it will be less bias to understeer, however your neutral feel might be left behind.
>>14039501
Hmm, the BC Racing come 4 kg/5 kg. Would the physics be different with torsion rear vs double wishbone?
>>14039471
I'm so tired today. I just got back home yesterday so I've been doing normie shit all day. Gonna have to go to the next one.
>>14039418
God damn you're the worst
You just want someone else to buy a third gen
I doubt you've even seen an mx3, let alone drive one
>>14039586
You'd want to go less stiff on a torsion rear than a wishbone rear. Equal rates would be better on that setup, but a 4 kg on the front and a 4.5 kg would probably be my preferred setup.

Well shit even the KL would be better than the K8. Actually, the MX-3 is extremely easy to swap, so kudos to Mazda on that Lego factor. Not a fan of the gearbox, it was like stirring a bowl of stir fry oil with a wooden spoon and the thing had no power.

>>14047609
I bought a used one from weebland, had it resurfaced and weighed. The stock Integra flywheel is twenty pounds and this one I have now is twelve.
>>14047626
Yeah I suspected that, when I swapped in my 9lbs the car felt a lot more alive
>>14047599
Man I should have taken a pic of the moment we took the trans off the engine. The input shaft bearing wasn't even connected to anything just dangling inside the flywheel. It was the source of all the noises I've had since the day I bought the car. It came out in pieces.
>>14047626
Noob question but do you rev freely and faster with a lighter flywheel?
>>14047648
Rate of RPM change will increase.
>>14047632
I would have gone lighter than that, probably ten pounds, but I got this flywheel from a buddy for stupid cheap. Eight less pounds feels extremely nice. I suppose I could have gained WHP from it, but I have no idea. Not going to bother dynoing the car until I do a CRVTEC.
/hg/ needs to be sponsored by HV
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2LattuIhnA
>>14047636
Input shaft bearings suck. The one that came in my current flywheel had been lodged in there for quite awhile and took a good half hour to beat all the way out.
>>14047648
Yes. The downfall is inertia loss.
>>14047661
I don't understand, your revs will be faster when you blip the throttle?
>>14047662
>Inertia loss
Oh man, what's that?
>>14047676
Well, a lighter weight flywheel will not have as much momentum as a heavier flywheel, therefore it will feel like you loose low end torque.
Now, when you go to take off with a lighter flywheel it feels like you've lost the lower end torque because of how you engage the clutch and take off. It requires more revs to take off smoother. I have a twelve pound flywheel, so it's not as noticeable as an eight or nine pound. On a B series, that is.
>>14047662
Yeah my uncle was using one of those real old Snap On specialty tools to get all of it out but even that didn't cut it. He got the flywheel out the next day and got it out finally. It was the whole reason it was a two night job instead of one. Car just feels amazing now.
>>14047713
The one thing I regret from my clutch replacement was not changing the rear main... It started to weep after I had everything back together.
Don't hoon the thing until it's broken in, you'll burn that thing to shreds.
>>14047727
Yeah I'll try to contain the Shingo for now. Lucky I rack up miles fast so it should be broken in in like a week. How many miles should I do to consider it broken in? I took the long way home so that's about 95 miles.
>>14047752
500-750 city miles. That took me awhile and shifting economically for awhile sucked. It sounds ludicrous, but that's what 90% recommend to prolong the life of an OE replacement clutch.
I had to pull the trans twice. One for the clutch job and the second was for the throwout I forgot to replace. It went out about 100 miles in.
>>14047773
I should be able to knock those miles out real quick. Two weeks at the most. All depends on how many long distance deliveries I get. Think it'll hit around 250, 800 miles.
Require advice.

Look into a CRVTEC swap, its been done a thousand times and since you already have the block and transmission it should be fairly inexpensive.

>>14056288

>>14056347
The Fit/Jazz is probably the closest thing to the EG hatch that Honda will ever make again. Basically, the Fit took the spot in the subcompact class the Civic used to have (and dominate) before it (the civic) became overweight.
>fwd
Ayy. Let me get in that collage son.
>>14054282
It is double wishbone. The CRX, Civic and Integra share the trailing arm set up. The coilover, upper control arm and lower control arm not only classify it as double wishbone, but it also functions as double wishbone as well.
To add, this is an advantage for disc swaps on the CRX; the Integras all have discs so they're easier to find.
>>14056555
So if I'm looking for new rear pads or rotors I can just tell VatoZone my car is an Si, right? I might as well always say Si since I have very little CX stuff at this point.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bL_T4Lr0uu8
>>14056879
If the Si had rear discs and they are the same size rotor and caliper there shouldn't be an issue, but you should really look at getting stuff from rockauto, it's much cheaper. My front brakes were going to be $250 at vatozone, and they're only $120 on rockauto.

yes NA. degreed skunk2 pro 2 cams, 12/1 CP pistons, eagle rods, arp2000 rod studs and head studs, skunk2 pro intake, skunk2 alpha throttle body FID 900cc injectors. made that on pump gas. Car should make 300 on e85. you can make 225ish on stock everything (minus injectors) if you want to put it on "kill" and use full b16b head. Still pretty reliable even then.

>>14058608
>I got about $6k for a car.
5th gen Preludes cost about that much. The challenge will be finding a clean one. Also, manual only, because the auto trans is terrible (this also applies to Civics and Accords of the same era).
Base is better if you plan on modding in the future, SH is better if staying stock.

Depends on how much power you want, I'm not a fan of swapping when you can do 'a few bolt-ons'
Then if you're still unhappy with the power, at least for an accord, swap an H in, or forced induction.

>>14060567
Its both lol trans and motor. Don't be optimistic though. My bro's Mustang has 260hp from the factory and dyno'ed at 216whp due to drivetrain loss. Don't be surprised if your civic makes less than 118whp.
