nah, while i agree that the animation has gone to shit, i think that stage one was the most repetitive and boring since it was always the same:

The show either really had to end in stage 3 or keep going, but i really think by that point the show became "too new" for it to be considered a classic anyways. Proof of this its the end scene where the show just tells you "LOOK, THIS IS THE NEW GT86, ITS BETTER, GO BUY IT!".

When I was ~5 years old we did a 3000+ mile road trip in the thing. I was lucky enough to have a gameboy color and pokemon blue.

The entire premise of Takumi vs Shinji fight was a bit odd. Making Takumi struggle (or even worse, to lose) to someone who is basically his 1st stage self nullified any development Takumi had as a driver. There shouldn't have been a way Shinji would have kept up with Takumi given Takumi had the better version of the AE86 (better power, and according to 3rd stage Ryosuke, cornering potential, due to the racing engine plus the roll cage and carbon hood modifications).

The better ending would be making Takumi face someone like God Hand that actually made him lose in terms of techniques. Heck, I wouldn't have a problem if they had a rematch. Shinji is that bad of an opponent to Takumi.

I love Initial D but I do however think that each stage of it relies on takumi "loosing but not really" to much. When he was up against the EVO and the motor blew, and then the suspension busted with god hand, and the animal with the EG. I watch all types of racing. I've been watching racing and participating in it since I was a kid. The one shitposting is you.

endurance racing is boring for 90% of the race because they are "taking it easy", "long race", saving fuel, saving tires. All the drama is in strategy. Which is fine, I like it, but it's not action packed.

Conversely, sprint racing, all the drama is in the actual racing. They aren't saving fuel, they aren't saving tires, and they need to get to the front quick and stay there. Obviously, sprint races are much more aggressive. They can't even be compared.
